Rating: Summary: Better than the first... Review: This series lies to us...its not for kids. There are things that I have to go back and re-read because I either missed or didn't focus on enough, and this happens every time I read them. The Dursleys are more horrible than before, which is hard to imagine. Lockhart is an insufferable fool who got what he deserved. Snape is just as mean and nasty as before, and of course there's Dumbledore right in the middle of things. I want just one teacher like him...
Rating: Summary: Worthwhile reading for children AND adults Review: This series of books has to be some of the most inventive and entertaining reading for "children" since Roald Dahl. This series is just incredible. Anything that gets kids interested in reading is great in my book. People who are uptight about the subject matter need to relax, and remember -- it doesn't matter WHAT your kids are reading, if you've given them a sound basis for morals, and beliefs. It's called, "Fantasy" folks, not "Reality." The important thing is that they're reading. I heartily recommend this series, and can't wait for my grandson to get old enough to appreciate this series. Lucky him, he'll get to read the entire series in one go, and not have to wait like me for each book.
Rating: Summary: WOW. Review: This series of books is great. I hate to read but love to read these. I usually spend atleast 1 month reading other books but only spend 1 or 2 days reading these. I am not going to give any of the book away because it is such a great book and you can't live without it.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter encourages children to read- adults too! Review: This series was bought for my 11 year old daughter and we had discussions about it for days. For Christmas she received a set of audio tapes of Book 1 (Harry Potter and the Sourcer's Stone) which I listened to on a long distance drive. I confess, I am hooked on this delightful series. Upon my return, I read the remaining two books in the same amount of days.Any writing(s) that encourage children and adults to read is to be blessed in this day and age. Buy these charming books for your children, but make sure to take the time to enjoy this read as well.
Rating: Summary: Repeat Review: This story seems to be largely a repeat of the first book. Not enough new information is revealed about the world of HP (although the flying car is just cool). Also, things seems to happen a little too conveniently (like how NO ONE is killed by the Basilisk, all being next to light refracting/reflecting devices of some sort) If you like HP, read it; but don't expect the freshness of the first book. I'm personally more interested in the later books, as they were much more engaging to the reader.
Rating: Summary: Better than the first! Review: This story starts late in the summer at the Dursley's.It is the summerin whichhis second year at Hogwarts. He was stuck up in his room whenhe meets a house elf named Dobby. Dobby warns him not to go back to Hogwarts because if he did, he would be in danger. Unlike the first book, this one doesn't take a long time for the story to get exciting. At the school, there was writing on the wall, saying about openening the Chamber of Secrets, and people were being Petrefied, or being turned into stone. In this story you will meet Ron's little sister Ginny, and how Harry was able to talk to the snake at the zoo in the first book. This is the best book I've ever read, and I think you would like to read it too. If you were a fan of Harry Potter and the Sourcerer's Stone, you will love this one.
Rating: Summary: Pretty good, not as good as the first one Review: This was a amusing book, but Harry is a bad character. He is kinda dorky, and so are his friends. The Sorcerer's Stone was good, but Harry constantly breaking rules, being suspected of anything posible, and always being the hero can get pretty old. He always narowly misses getting expelled by being rewarded. He is always the hero, earning anything he wants. TWO books of it gets real boring, FAST!!!!
Rating: Summary: OK, So now I can turn my '91 Astro into owl..... Review: This was a better book that the first book. In fact, I told my daughter to read this one first, which you can do because the author goes to great lengths to reexplain anything that is mentioned from the first book (which is fairly annoying if you did read the first book). This book had nearly the same plot as the first, just different scenery. I like the lead characters. I can't really get a good mental picture of Ron other than his red hair. The author just doesn't describe him like she does the other characters, you just know him by his actions. So, after my first two years at Hogwarts I can now turn my '91 Astro into a owl. I'm on my way the the Jaguar... On to year three.
Rating: Summary: A big disapointment ... Review: This was a big disapointment for me. When I read the first 3 chapters I almost fell asleep it was so boring despite how many things happend. Jk. Rowling definetly made a big mistake on this book. It was absolutely horrible! I didn't even finish the whole book ... Later I was tempted to finish the book because I wanted to read the third one. I finished it ... um ... I just want to say it was pretty good at the end but the beginning ... could make you fall asleep. :) Overall: Once you get past the first couple of chapters you'll fnd the excitement. Read only if you want to read the rest of the series.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK WAS AWESOME! Review: This was a fun-filled book with lots of action. I think this book really brings out what the wizard world would be like. My favorite part of the book was when Harry was in the Chamber of Secrets. There he escapes from the powers of Lord Voldemort for the third time. I would recommend this book to people who like exciting and action-packed books
