Summary: This is the golden classic
Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone might have been released in 1997, but it's a classic in my eyes. The first book in the Harry Potter series tells of a young, orphaned boy who lives with his aunt and uncle for ten years after his parents death. It starts out Cinderella-ish, young Harry is abused by his hideous Aunt, Uncle and cousin and is forced to live in a cupboard under the stairs and he hasn't had a birthday in eleven years. But now, all that is about to change. On Harry's eleventh birthday, he discovers from a giant named Hagrid that he is a wizard and is destined at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Thus Harry is whisked off to the magnificent world of magic and to the mystical Hogwarts School. The book is full of wonderful and sly humor, memorable characters and a interesting plot. Once Harry arrives at Hogwarts, he's ready to learn the magical arts with his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. When the story unfolds, we find out that Harry's parents were killed by a very evil wizard named Voldemort. But somehow, Harry survived and that's why he's famous. After a bit of chapters, Harry, Ron and Hermione discover about the mysterious Sorcerer's Stone and are trying to discover who's trying to steal it. Harry also meets his archrival, Draco Malfoy. The book is chock full of surprises and plot twists. It's simple but its a classical book. The magic in Rowling's book is a lot different than other magic. It'll sure suck you in.

Summary: It's definetly a page turner!
Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone portrays a young 11-yearold Harry, who has the worst family ever. Dudley Durseley; Harry'sfat and lazy cousin, Petunia Durseley; his bony snappish Aunt, and Vernon Durseley; his huge uncle who hates him and always locks Harry in the stairway closet. In fact, Harry spends every night, wishing he could run away and have a good life. Then, one day Harry receives a letter in the mail from Hogwarts, School of Witches and Wizards, asking him to join them to learn magic. All of a sudden, Harry finds himself in a new world where there's Quidditch; a game involving broomsticks and goal posts, to leg-locking curses. Rowling adds suspense, foreshadowing and good detective working in this book, leaving you on the edge of your seat.

Summary: A book to be read by parent(s) to child(ren)
Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone reads marvelously out loud. My 10 year old son and I read this book together over Christmas vacation, and he would not go to bed without at least 2 chapters a night. Harry turns from a self doubting outcast to a self reliant mage in just one school year, filled with magic, mystery and suspense. J. K. Rowling excels at placing these themes in the 20th century and the disbelieving. We can't wait for the sequel, and we hope Rowling has many more where she envisioned this one.

Summary: Potter
Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Scholastic Press, 309pages,
J.K Rowlings ISBN 0-590-35340-3
This book is the first in a series of 5 books out. J.K Rowlings is a magnificent author to describe every detail. The story is about Harry Potter, a wizard, who is growing up without knowing about his magical powers. When he was a baby both his parents were killed by a powerful sorcerer while protecting Harry. On Harry's 13th birthday he gets a letter from a school called Hogwarts but his evil aunt, uncle, and cousin who he lives with won't allow him to go. He went Hagar to Hogwarts anyways. There he met all the teachers some of which didn't like him. One boy didn't like him either Draco Malfroy. Harry doesn't excel in his class like his teachers had hoped and then strange things started happening. Like a teacher trying to kill Harry during a Quidditch match. Harry finds out that the sorcerer that tried to kill him as a child has taken of a teacher's body and was trying to get the sorcerer's stone to get his body back and kill Harry. Harry foils his plan and drives the sorcerer away and is the hero.
I liked the book it a lot of adventure and never got boring. With all the magic and fights and games they play it's just a great book.

Summary: absoulutley magnificent
Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone The book "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" by J.K. Rowling was fantastic. It captures the imagination right from the beginning, as Harry goes through one adventure after another. It is very fun and easy to read. I found it very difficult to put this book down. Rowling pulls you right into the fascinating magical world of Harry Potter. This book is a must read for all ages. Any chance of leading a normal childhood goes up in flames when Harry's parents are murdered by the evil wizard Lord Volemort. Harry is forced into living with his cruel relatives, the Dursleys. He is always being picked on by his cousin Dudley. Also he is constantly being scolded by his Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia. Hopes of happiness for Harry arise when he receives a letter accepting him to the Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry meets Hagrid, a huge man at least 10 ft tall, and is taken away from the miserable life with the Dursleys. At Hogwarts, Harry befriends a boy named Ron and a know-it-all girl named Hermione. This starts the amazing adventures of Harry Potter. This book as you might have guessed is a fantasy. You should also read "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" and "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" all of which are superb sequels to the 1st Harry Potter.
