Rating: Summary: The best book since Narnia Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is the first book in the Harry Potter series. Harry lives with his horrible aunt and uncle the Dursleys until he discovers that he is a wizard. Then he goes to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry and his friends Ron and Hermione must get past all the enchantment to reach the Sorcerer's Stone in time to stop the evil wizard Voldemort from taking the stone which would give him eternal life. In order to try to get the stone, Voldemort took over the body of one of the teachers, because he hadn't got one of his own. I won't tell whether the children stop him, because you should find out for yourself! I especially liked the episode of the flying keys because I thought catching flying keys would be fun. This book is so wonderful that I have read it 4 times.
Rating: Summary: The book that started it all Review: Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone is the first book in the HP series, and is well worth a read. Harry Potter is a young boy living with his evil aunt and uncle along with their son, Dudley, when he discovers that he is a wizard, or at least a wizard-in-training. With his giant friend, Hagrid, Harry travels to Hogwarts, the school for wizards, to learn how to become a wizard. This is a great book for children and adults full of adventure and suspense. There are plenty of great characters from Dumbledore to Snape, Ron to Hermione, and Hagrid to Draco which really add to the story. This is a very enjoyable read that will keep you riveted from the first page all the way to the last. Don't miss Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone.

Rating: Summary: The greatest book I've ever read Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is the greatest book I've ever read. I especially like when he is in between the Purple Flame and the Black Flame and Harry and Hermione have to pick the correct potion to move them forward or backward. I also liked the room with the giant chessmen that you had to play your way across. Fluffy was also a very funny name for a three-headed dog! My favorite chapter was the last chapter, "The Man with Two Faces," because you find out who "you know who" (Voldemort) is.

Rating: Summary: Wonderful. A realistic, scintillating story. Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is wonderful. It is catchy and realistic. You become completely caught up in the adventures of Harry and his friends.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is your classic boarding school story/adventure, with the usual cast of characters. The stern nun-like character (McGonagall), the evil professor (Snape), and the strong but gentle groundskeeper (Hagrid). Think groundskeeper Willie from The Simpsons. In fact, you can cast the rest of the characters that way, too. The mischievous Harry Potter (Bart), his sidekick Ron (Milhouse), the law-abiding Hermione (Lisa), the wimpy Neville (Ralph), and the school bully Malroy (Nelson). There's nothing essentially new about these characters nor the roles they play.
Of course, this doesn't necessarily take away from the story itself, because it is an entertaining story. Unfortunately, the sudden hype and its backlash had somewhat obscured what Harry Potter really is. It's an interesting children's book. It's not the best book ever written (as some seem to suggest), and in retrospect, probably not exactly deserving of all its accolades. In marketing terms, it's a cash cow. Rowling will most likely try her best to complete the "promised" seven books before the interest wears out and/or before the current Potter fans outgrow him. The series will probably be done before 2004, and all seven books will not be turned into movies. Most likely the interest will end at movie 4, if not sooner. She will try to keep her promise of keeping it to seven books, but I doubt she'll stray far from the Harry Potter universe. Most likely, she'll start a new series, and get sick of critics (and readers) endlessly comparing it to Harry Potter, and Harry Potter (or one of the characters) will make a comeback or spin-off, and she'll say: "Well, it's not really the same character..." Just a hunch.
Well, back to the story, I actually did enjoy it. It did keep my interest. I can certainly see why it's so popular with adolescents. It's exciting to see a book have such an impact on a society, even if the book and its impact isn't exactly Goethe and The Sorrows of Young Werther, or Joyce and Ulysses. But any book that can get children to read who otherwise won't deserves some applause.
Rating: Summary: The Little Wizard Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone isn't a good book until Harry arrives to Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardary. Harry's parents were murdered so Harry had too move in with his mean Aunt and Uncle, the Dursleys. The Dursleys had a son named Dudley. Dudley always picked on Harry and made fun of him, but one day Harry got a letter that said he has an invitation to a wonderful place he never thought or dreamed existed. So I think that you should read this book because it's great.
Rating: Summary: a great book Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone made me want to be a wizard too. Harry Potter is so brave and kind I wished I could be like him. Dumbledore seemed to be so wise and nice. I wish I had a teacher like him. It would be cool to play chess the way they did.
