Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a book full of magic and adventure. The book begins with the Dursleys, a family who likes to be normal. Mrs. Dursley has a sister whom she never likes to mention. Mrs. Dursley's sister was a witch and her husband was a wizard. The reader soon learns that Mrs. Dursley has a nephew, Harry Potter, who is the same age as her son. Voldemort, a bad wizard, murdered Harry's parents. They lived in a totally different world; a world full of witches and wizards and magic, somewhat different than the world Harry will be encountering. Harry comes to live with the Dursleys because of the death of his parents. The Dursleys are not happy about his presence in their home. Harry begins to receive letters, but he is not able to read them. Mr. Dursley will not let him read the letters because he does not want Harry to know about his parents. The Dursleys are too worried about their reputation to even allow Harry to know the truth about his parents. Along comes Hagrid, the groundkeeper at Hogwarts Academy, a school of magic. He has been sent to fetch Harry and bring him to school at Hogwarts. Once Harry meets Hagrid, his journey has begun. Harry is not aware of this, but he is a legacy in this other world. His name is known by everyone because Voldemort, the powerful and bad wizard did not have the power to kill Harry. The book continues with the adventures of Harry and his friends at Hogwarts. The beginning of the book is like an overview which leads to an encounter with Voldemart in the forest. Voldemort is on a mission to get the Sorcerer's Stone, "the Elixir of Life." Harry's determined to get the Sorcerer's Stone because Voldemort wants it. The reader is taken on a mission/ a game to prevent Voldemort from getting the sorcerer's stone. Harry is able to overcome Voldemort because of his friends' help. Harry's friends, Ron and Hermione, help him with the chess game and the logic puzzle. This allows Harry to advance to the next level of the mission. Essentially, the help of Harry's friends allows him to be victorious over the evil forces. This book is such an adventure. I'm surprised that I enjoyed it so much, since it is a children's book. I suppose that this really is a book for all ages!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter- what it's made out to be? Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a book that everyone will love. I really enjoyed this book because it pulled you into it and you had to keep on reading. I finished this book in 2 days because the details of the story line were so interesting I couldn't put it down. J.K. Rowling is everything that people make her to be. She really has a huge imagination. I like how the book is clear and how she describes each and every character with the tiniest details. This gives you a perfect image of how each character acts and looks. One of my favorite parts of these books is the Quidditch match. I like how you get involved with the game and wish that it were a real sport so could play it too. In fact, during this story, I got almost jealous of those characters. I wanted to be able to do the spells like Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Those 3 get themselves caught in many predicaments throughout this book and somehow they always find a way out. One suggestion I do have is to read the series in order. Things might not make sense to you otherwise. Try to avoid skipping books and chapters because every sentence in it is important. I read the books out of order starting at 2, then reading 3,4, and lastly, 1. Pieces are going back into the puzzle, but a lot less confusion would have taken place if I read them in order. Over all, this series is not a waste of your time, read it and don't miss out. To answer my opening question, yes, this series is named number one because it is the best.
Rating: Summary: A BOOK THAT IS GREAT FOR ALL AGES Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a book that I would recommend for almost everyone who is capable of reading a book of its size. It has characters that readers love, and can believe. The story about a kid who finds out he is a wizard intriges younger readers, while older(and younger) readers can also enjoy the story and its jokes, but will want to read back to find the little clues Joanne Rowling drops about the story's major secret, and read up on some of the history of names etc. These things make the story interesting at mutliple levels.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a book that people of all ages all over the world can enjoy. Even if you are a person who isn't a big one on reading. When I first started the book I wasn't sure if I would enjoy reading it because it was meant for a younger audience, but as I got farther and farther into the book I found myself having troubles putting it down. It starts off with every child's nightmare about growing up not know your parents and living with your horrible relatives. But unlike most children Harry Potter knows something is missing in his life besides his real family, he knows that there is more to him then a scar on his forehead. The only thing is he doesn't know what is missing. The older he gets the more he wonders until around the time of his 13th birthday he starts to get letters in the mail about a school that his uncle will not let him go to because it is a school called Hogwrats school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The reason Harry's uncle Vernon doesn't want him to go is because Harry's parents were wizards and they died by the hands of another wizard that's how Harry got the scar on his forehead. On Harry's 13th birthday he meets a very strange man named Hadgrid. Hadgrid is the grounds keeper at Hogwarts and an old friend of Harry's parents. Hadgrid ends up taking Harry on a little shopping spree to get all of the supplies he will need to attend Hogwarts. When Harry gets to school he makes many new friends and finds out all about himself and his parents. He goes on many adventures and overcomes lots of obstacles. I would definitely recommend any and every one read this book.
Rating: Summary: A trip through the magical side. Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a book that takes a reader through a magical world, lead by wizards and witches. The book draws a reader in by its imaginary world that is full of adventures throughout Harrys young life. When I first heard of this series I thought that it was just for young kids, but after I read the first book I realized it was for everyone. If you are looking for a little fun and excitment in your life, go out and pick up the book. If you havent got caught up in the Harry Potter series, is just a matter of time until you will.
Rating: Summary: Sparks the imagination and teaches lessons! Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a book that will spark the imagination of the child and adult alike! This book and many of the others all have a hidden lesson. Many times you will find as you go through the series that there is a lesson of things not always being what they seem to be. Rowling has fooled me by giving events that are suspicious enough for you to think you know who the "bad" person is in the story, when it is someone else! At the end all the peices are wrapped up, so it is almost a "MYSTERY" book as well!

It may even bring about future writers and their works. As they say, in order to be a writer, you must be a reader.
