Summary: Still haven't bought into the hype?
Review: From the first moment you touch the richly textured cover of this book, you can tell something special is about to happen.

Critics over the have raved about this book, and it is one no collection should be without. Much like Raold Dahl, this is a series that appeals to both young and old readers and can be enjoyed by parents and their children. If you still haven't read the first book after the media hype, pick it up! It doesn't matter who you are. Corporate businessman, high school student, retired grandparent - anyone can read this delighting and enchanting series and escape the real world for just a few hours. I promise this is a purchase you won't forget.

Summary: An amazing adventure!
Review: From the first page, Rowling had me guessing. I had the needed hate for the Dursley's, Snape and Malfoy. I rooted for and loved Harry, Ron and Hermione. And the end, well my gosh, I was shocked and amazed! I can't wait to share this book with my future children

Summary: The door is opened to a wonderful world...
Review: From the first pages of this book to the last, your imagination takes off on a wild ride that you don't ever want to end. The characters and subplots are intriguing, funny, emotional, and everything in between. I originally bought all four of these books for my younger cousin, and I decided to read them to see what all the hype was about. Well, for once, it's the hype doesn't live up to the real thing. The world of Harry and his friends (and enemies) is a world that we would all like to escape to. Having read all four books that are currently out at this moment, this book serves as a more than capable entrance to a land filled with wizards and creature, not to mention Muggles! I would recommend this book to everybody, young and old. I am now a 21 year old medical student that doesn't have that much time to read books other than for their scholastic purpose, but I am more than willing to make an exception for the Harry Potter series. Stop reading this review and start reading this book!

Summary: To all the Bible Thumpers
Review: From the general chorus of acclaim for this book, there were quite a few reviews squealing with anxiety that children will turn towards witchcraft and turn their backs on their good, proper religious training after reading it. If your years of parental guidance in the hopes of raising your children right is threatened by one (or a series of) fantasy book(s), then I ask that you re-examine your relationship with your children. Do they have more respect for your love and guidance, or the fantasy world of a book? If it appears to be the latter case, then you'd better make some more quality time with your kids first so you can avoid end up blaming the Charles Manson bedsheets and ritual pet sacrifices on a children's book.

Summary: Charming, engaging story
Review: From the moment I began reading this book, I could barely put it down. When I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. It's been a long time since I've read a children's book, but as I read this, all the fond memories of my favorite childhood books came flooding back, making me quite giddy.

Harry is an outcast in his own family - he lives with his unloving aunt and uncle and a repulsive cousin, his needs barely taken care of. He doesn't come across as bitter, though. He's accepted his fate. But, on his 11th birthday, things change. He's been accepted at Hogwarts, a school for witches and warlocks and from then on, Harry's life becomes a magical adventure.

This book has everything that attracts many young readers - a hero who overcomes being an outcast; a cast of quirky, loyal friends; some school bullies; a mean teacher; caring, firm adults and of course, an evil villian. Not to mention all the magic and whimsical creatures - unruly ghosts and poltergeists, centaurs, owls, etc.

This story reminds me of several stories from my childhood: Alice in Wonderland, The Magic Talisman, A Wrinkle in Time, and even Star Wars, the movie. Harry struck me as a kind of Luke Skywalker, while his friends Ron and Hermione, were much like Han Solo and Princess Leia. Younger of course.

In my opinion, this deserves no less than 5 stars and I'm keeping my books for my daughter to read when she's older.

Summary: A story for all ages!
Review: From the moment I began to read I was transported to a magical world that you really can believe. Everyone will love the story of the young wizards and witches learning about their craft. The characters jump off the page, and you can almost see Harry flying around on his broomstick. This is a must read, can't put it down book, that moves so quickly the last page comes way too quick and the next volume's too far away to grab! Well-done Joanne Rowling...

Summary: what's the big deal?
Review: From the review this book got, you would think it was the first children's fantasy book ever written. Sure, the author of the Harry Potter books has some inventive additions to the typical fantasy story (Quidditch is one of my favorites, and has enjoyable, if somewhat stereotypical, characters and plots. Nothing, however, that justifies the reviews that this book has been getting. And as for appealing to adults, I can think of several children's fantasy books that would be equally, if not more, appreciated by more mature readers. In summary, read the book, call it excellent and original if you must, but please stop treating it like the best thing that ever happened to children's literature.

Summary: There is nothing else like it!!!
Review: From the very second since I started to read this book I loved it. From the second I woke up to when I went to to bed I couldn't stop thinking about it. Everything that you think won't happen happens. And when you finish it you still want more. That's how I got here, on amazon.com, to get Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets!

Summary: A great book to read to your kids!
Review: Full of outrageous characters, silly twists, great romps, and imaginative craziness! My son, age 10, and I read this together. We BOTH found it a joy to read! On a side note, the book offers some social issues -- "mean" parents, bullies, going to a new school, learning what you're capable of doing -- that my son could identify with, which gave us a few things to talk about. Overall, a delightful book, and a great book to read with your kids!
