Rating: Summary: Avid Writer and Reader of Fantasy Says: "NO!" Review: Every so often, I stumble across a book that really leaves a lasting impression on me. Every so often, I read a book and exclaim 'Wow! I'd never be able to do that.' This is not one of those books. Rowling has succeeded in creating a vivid imaginary world filled with magic and suspence, but she's failed to deliver feeling to the world she made. What's more, I find myself sourly dissapointed with the lack of originality. The 'magic school' has been done before. And it has been done better. Unfortunatly, I couldn't relate to any of the characters, didn't find any ideas that really sparked my imagination.Read fantasy filled with imagery and meaning. Not a two-demensional story about a boy who finds out he's a wizard. Worth the money? This book isn't worth a penny. Borrow it from a friend, go to the library. You know what, while you're there, forget about Harry Potter - it's a waste of time. Pick up some truly fun, thought-provoking, and imaginative works. Explore the worlds of Narnia (C.S Lewis), Westermark (Llyod Alexander), and Earth two hundred years into the future (Ender's Game: Battle SCHOOL, anyone? Orson Scott Card).
Rating: Summary: Great reading. Review: Everybody knows these books inside and out, so I'll just talk about my first time reading it. I was probably around 16 or 17 years old, and I had heard about Harry Potter and how the book was fast becoming a huge phenomenon, but I had no idea why: I'd never any of the stories. This was around the time "Goblet of Fire" was about to be released and there was huge anticipation for it. I decided that perhaps I will read the book to see what the huge deal was about it. I found it at the library and I took it home with me. At around 10 pm, I started reading it. I kept reading and was stunned to see that it was 3 am when I finished: uh-oh, I have school in a few hours! Nevertheless, that first read had a great impression on me and I read the book again over the following few days a little slower to absorb the new magical world that J.K. Rowling had created: Diagon Alley, Gringotts Bank and of course Hogwarts. I found Harry to be an inherently and genuinely good hero: willing to risk his life for his friends, never letting his fame get to his head. It's also a treat seeing how much foreshadowing is in the first book for the next six to follow (the Mirror of Erised showing Ron with the Quidditch Cup -- might he be Head Boy in book 7??). Great comic relief at spots and smart dialogue, with a hero standing for all that is good make this an entertaining and moral read. Recommended for all ages.
Rating: Summary: Just don't miss it! Review: Everyone knows the plot of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone" - one day, on his 11th birthday, Harry finds out he's son of a couple of wizards, and that he's enrolled to study at a school of magic...and so forth and so on. But if you never read this book, then do it quickly. I reccomend it for all ages - in my family, for example, I had to beg to my father (aged 52) to give me my book back. So there you can imagine all the tricks that JK Rowling can do to you. Just do not miss it!
Rating: Summary: HALLELUJAH!!!! A book for any type of reader Review: Everyone loves Harry Potter. I, who prefer realistic fiction, love Harry Potter. My best friend, who likes authors the like of Ray Brdbury, loves Harry Potter. My friend from camp, who likes books about serious subjects, loves Harry Potter. Another friend from camp, who doesn't really like reading, loves Harry Potter. In fact, ALL my friends from camp love Harry Potter. My friend who needs things to read loves Harry Potter. My aunt, who works at a Barnes and Nobles, loves Harry Potter. EVERYONE LOVES HARRY POTTER! Some people say it's too simple. PLEASE!!! Ms. Rowlings has invented Wizard Candy (Every flavor beans, Chocolate Frogs) Wizard clothing (The sorting Hat) Wizard spells (WinGARRRdium LeviOSa) Wizard words (Muggle, Squib) Wizard sports (Quidditch) Wizard Inventions (Floo powder) Wizard Wands (Yew, Unicorn hair, 9 1/2 inches, nice and whippy) Wizard tricks (The giant checkerboard, black and purple fire) Wizard dorms (Slytherin, Gryffindor) and of course, Wizard villains (VOLDEMORT). And they say the books are SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@#$%^&*()_-+=+-_)(*&^%$#@!!!! Also, one person said how this book makes fun of overweight people because Dudley is turned into a pig. I read the book carefully and a lot and it never occured to me once that that was because Dudley was fat! He simply acts quite pig like! And he(Dudley)makes fun of Harry for being skinny! And the hero has glasses! No stereotypes there! Also, Ron and ?Harry's best friend is a girl. As a girl whose best friend is a boy, I appreciate that. Also, i think the story of how the author read the book is pretty amazing! She was in welfare and wrote iton one of those yellow pads at a coffee shop. Then, boom! I'd guess she's not on welfare anymore. PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND ALSO, MS ROWLING? PLEASE WRITE MORE THAN 7!

Rating: Summary: This is the best book!!! Review: Everyone should read "Harry Potter and The Sorceror's Stone". It is so good. It's about a boy named Harry whose parents were killed, and has lived with his Aunt and Uncle and horrible cousin Dudley, since he was a baby. Harry gets lots of mysterious letters that somehow find there way into the house. His uncle won't let him read them, so he knows nothing about them until a giant comes to rescue him. The giant takes him to Hogwart's school for Wizardry and Witchcraft. He learns how to play Quiditch, and makes a few friends, and a few enomies. Harry Potter has to save the Sorceror's Stone. READ THIS BOOK!!!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Book Review Review: Everyone should read the book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone by J.K. Rowling because it displays imagination and fantasy. In the book Harry find's what his destiny is and where he really comes from, a world of wizardry. He gets to challenge evil and confront his fears with the help of his great friends Ron and Hermione. Some people think this book is a bad influence and goes against the Bible because of spells and witchcraft. Harry Potter makes the right decisions and stands for what he believes in. Harry is a celebrity in the wizard world but not in the muggle world. The Dursley's, the only family he has left is ashamed of him. They treat Harry very badly, one example is he lives under the stairs most of his life and gets all the left overs of Dudley's. Just like any ordinary child, Harry also struggles in his classes on spells and potions. He also come's across great friends, one quote from the book that displays this is "It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends". Reading Harry Potter is not only a learning experience but it's enjoyable to read and children are choosing to read rather than to play video games.
