Rating: Summary: Predictable to say the least... Review: Yes we have all heard this scenario before...Boy is shunned from his family and all of a sudden becomes a hero. It seemed to roll over way too fast from his home life to Hogwort's and all of a sudden he's like everyone else. I don't know about you but after practically JUST finding out I'm a wizard and coming accross hundreds of hundreds of kids just like me in another realm would feel a bit overwhelming. My sister made me read the book and I didn't even finish it was that bad. Maybe it should mainly be for kids...it's just not my style of books. The movie however is a lot better then this piece of literature. I was captivated and moved by the effects and storyline (which seemed to intertwine well with each other)...not to mention the incredible quittage match (eat ur heart out, George Lucas!!). I enjoyed the Chronicals of Narnia very much as a little kid but this is just down-right un-original and ethically disturbing as well. I wonder under all the lying and deciet, trickery and witchcraft that goes on in the story what the author's points of view are on life and what her ethical values are (or if she has any?) on life. So if you're under 13 and want a book to read and are into the fantasy scene I would only slightly reccomend this. Otherwise pick up the classics "The Chronicals of Narnia" and see the breath-taking movie. Now that would be 5 stars! Sorry kids...it just didn't live up to the hype.
Rating: Summary: A 27 year old reader Review: Yes, I am 27 years old, and I have to admit I enjoyed every page of this book! It's excellent, fun reading! It's definitely a guilty pleasure! I can't wait to read the next one!
Rating: Summary: This Book's Better Than The Movie! Review: Yes, it sounds cliche, but did I enjoy the book much more than the film it recently inspired. The film had a great deal going for it -- it contained talented actors and artful and elaborate settings -- but, in the interest of time, the filmmakers cut out many of Rowling's beautifully crafted subplots and characters, and they didn't sufficiently develop what remained. I left the theatre feeling rushed, feeling as though these were not quite the same people and experiences I grew to care about while reading the novel. I think you'd be well-served to save the price of theatre admission and buy yourself (or someone else) the book, instead.

Rating: Summary: LOVED IT! Review: You can not imagine what a good fantasy book is until you've read the Harry Potter books. It made me stay up till midnight reading because it was so suspenseful. I'm a big fan of fantasy books and Harry Potter is by far the BEST I've read. I can't wait for the 4th book to come out! I guarantee that people of ANY age would absolutely love this book! You may think that a magical school for witches and wizards that has magical creatures and such could never be realistic...but the author(Rowling), puts in great descriptions and characters and there are surprises almost every time you turn the page. This book made me BEG my parents for the other 2 and I(very excitedly) recieved them at Christmas. I got started the next day. You may think this book is just for little kids but I've been reading some of these reviews and there're quite a few adults who gave this book high ratings. If you were to get this book, you would probably fly through the chapters not being able to wait for what's happening next. All of these questions started to build up in my mind in every one of these books. It's a great book...period.
