Summary: Magical & Wonderful
Review: What a delightful journey through imagination & wonder. It's taken me a long time to break down and read the Potter books but I've just started and I'm entranced. Can't wait to read my way through the rest of them.

Summary: GREAT SERIES
Review: What a delightful series. I inherited the books from my mother. I hadn't planned to read them, I was to save them for my children.

The first book was fun and interesting, but I felt that the ending was a little of a last minute decision and the twist was edited back into the story. I don't think the 9-12 age group would feel this way, but as an adult reading it that's what it seemed like.

I have read all 4 books over a 2 week period, so evidiently they kept my interest. What I have found wonderful is that the story is very well developed from book to book. It builds upon the previous books and the author's plot twists become better developed in each installment.

I have read series novels before and was sadly disappointed when the plot left you hanging very awkwardly. J.K. Rowling tells a wonderful story within each book and when all is done you know an entire portion of Harry Potter's story. At the end of each book, my interest was peaked for the next installment. In other series novels, I felt as though the story was just cut off because the publisher/author hit the desired number of pages for a decent novel. I can't wait until my children are old enough to read these and I'll be happy to see installment number 5.

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Review: What a delightful tale! Immediately after finishing it, I sent it to my 19 and 20 year old knowing that neither would be able to resist. I was right. The 20-year old couldn't put it down. The story is fast-moving, grips the reader from the first chapter, and transforms the reader to the bizarre world of magic. It's wonderful for the avid reader as well as the not-so-advanced reader because the words contained therein are words for which we aren't instructed of the "correct pronunciation" so however one reads it, is exactly correct. I was reminded of "The Phantom Tollbooth," another well-loved story that we've read to and enjoyed with the boys when they were young. Harry Potter is irresistable. It's as though we've all known there existed a parallel world and the author has managed to take us there where we are instantly delightfully swept away in the adventures of these totally lovable characters. This is my definition of a masterpiece! Reading this book to your favorite kid will undoubtedly bring you the finest quality time you can create. Reading this book to yourself will touch the most playful parts of your imagination.

Summary: Galloping Gorgons!
Review: What a great book. For all of you kids who have been told how much everyone loves this book, but haven't read it yet you should. The story is about a boy that gets called to go to a school that teaches whitchcraft and wizardry. Little does Harry know he is a very famous wizard. This story will take you through this young boys adventures becoming a wizard, and maybe even running in "you know who."

Summary: A great start to a great new series!
Review: What a great series! At a very young age, the famouz wizard Harry Potter narrowly escaped death. When You-Know-Who turned to evil, he started to kill the greatest wizards in the land. But for some reason he couldn't kill this boy. And as a result, Harry now has a scar on his forehead in the shape of a lightning bolt. About 12 years later, Harry is living with his muggle parents, Aunt Petunia, Uncle Dursley, and Dudley. One day he receives a letter addressed to him, but Uncle Dursley won't let him read it. Some time later the letters are pouring in by the thousands. What he doesn't know is that these letters are from a place unlike he ever imagined. A place called Hogwarts, a school for wizards. But Uncle Dursley won't pay for him to go, but eventually he sees the light and allows Harry to go, beginning the adventure of his lifetime.

Summary: Superb
Review: What a splendidly imaginative book. Only those with the most closed of minds could rate this book anything less than five stars. Harry Potter an unloved and unwanted child enters a wonderfully exciting world of magic and finds friendship, acceptance, and a sense of self. It is a wonderful book which can teach children the value of self-love and self-worth. Of developing good friendships and accepting those who aren't exactly the same as everyone else. Everyone belongs no matter who you are. Kudos to Rowling for an absolute gem of a book. From a devoted and caring christian Mother who is careful about the materials I allow my children to read, this rates right up there with Charlies & The Chocolate Factory, and The Hobbit. BRAVO!
