Rating: Summary: Muggles won't understand... Review: Tired of all the heap about this series? So was I until I picked it up...and couldn't put it down. Not only is this book well written, creative, and funny, it is downright captivating. It gives children--and adults--a chance to escape the boundaries and norms of reality and to an enchanted world purely designed to enhance the imagination. As a Christian...I love this book, and it no more promotes witchcraft and magic more than Disney does. If it promotes anything, it is encouraging people to read.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter is not only for kids! Review: To all the readers out there.... I know that the Harry Potter's books have been categorized as "books for children". It has been a while since my husband and I (33 and 31), have had so much fun reading a book. We would like to recommend all adults to read these books and pass them on! you'll have lots of fun!
Rating: Summary: XXXtraordinary Review: To be able to write a book that people like is quite a feat in itself. To be able to write a book that people enjoy, love, and read over and over again is accomplished by very few authors. I first read this book last year when I was 16, a friend of mine (13) had told me that it was the best book she had ever read. Of course, being the 'all mature 16 year old' I didnt think that I would really enjoy a book that a 13 year old girl had liked. However, she leant me the book and I was unable to put it down. I eventually finished it at around midnight of that first day, and then read it again soon after. If you are reading this reveiw and you havent read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, READ IT NOW. It is a book that will satisfy all agegroups. The other day I was on the London Underground for about ten minutes and saw no less than five people all reading a Harry Potter. How often have you seen this? There are only two other books that render the reader unable to put the book down willingly, and they are the sequals. If you get through the first chapter and have no desire to read further, then you are one in a billion.
Rating: Summary: Not bad Review: To be honest, I didn't think this book was all that wonderful. I feel kind of left out because I don't see what all the fuss is about. It has some memorable characters, particularly Hagrid, but some of the others seemed kind of bland, even in a world of magic. The parts with the Dursleys were funny, but the rest of it lacked the same level of humor. Rowling has been very inventive in creating this world, but so have a lot of other authors.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter transcends any age group!!!!!!!!! Review: To be quite honest I had expected very little when I first picked up Harry Potter. I am much to sophisticated and think too much for myself to go along with the masses, and more importantly when they are masses of children. But Harry Potter is really really good! I'm a 20 year college student and I was blown back with this book. The story is masterful, I honestly could not put the book down after I started. The book is also extremely well written, I'm amazed that this is still mainly considered a children's book. I think that is will be just as interesting to a middle-aged person as to a 12 year old. The book is also great because it brings back all the great feelings of childhood. Now after reading this book I cannot wait to read the next and also to see the movie. I cannot believe this but I actually consider myself a fan of Harry Potter. If someone would have told me that a few week ago I would have laughed in their face. So if you were like me and never gave Harry Potter a chance you might want to reconsider.

Rating: Summary: Fantasies, What a Joke Review: To me it was just another imaginary story inside a fairy tale cover. I detested fantasies, anything made up. If it's not realistic, why read it! That was my impression of Harry Potter before I read it. Harry Potter is an unrealistic book (fantasy book, but I don't like to call it that) which is unlike any other book I've read. I loved it! Every description of every character is permanently imprinted in your mind. One page of the book and all those characters come to life in your imagination. Harry, the rejected nephew of the Dursley's all of a sudden finds out about his second world of wizards, witches, and monsters. You will be struck, like an oncoming car with his adventures and challenges. I recommend this book to any one willing to read it. It's a great read.
Rating: Summary: From a 14-yr-old reader Review: TO PARENTS WHO ARE CONSIDERING THESE BOOKS FOR THEIR KIDS ANDDECIDED TO CHECK THEM OUT B/C OF All THE HYPE ABOUT THEM: Hello! Ijust want to let you know that I am writing this in part to counteractall the bad press written about these books. I have read some of the articles warning people off these books. All I can say is that they must not have read them. The kid reading the book doesn't think of the spells as "witchcraft" or "black magic". The Houses Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin aren't looked at as being "cultism" or "clannish". What I thought was "Cool, they've all got kind of a home base. They belong there. It's their turf." Ask almost any kid who has read a Harry Potter book what they thought about it, and unless they were raised by parents who have the views of a Puritan, they'll give you a smile and say they loved it. Look at this from a kid's point of view..... a book about a kid, with tyrants as the authority figures, (the Dursely's, not the teachers) who escapes and has adventures at a way-cool school where you learn MAGIC and not dumb math and language, where you play a sport involving six balls and flying broomsticks. Sounds great, huh? :)
Rating: Summary: believe in magic Review: To put it simply, this book is amazing for children and adults alike. The characters are so interesting and the entire wizarding world is so wonderfully creative. J.K. Rowling is an extremely gifted story-teller, always leaving the reader craving for even more. You'll be hooked right from the beginning!
