Rating: Summary: Great first book Review: This was a great first Harry Potter Book. A must-read in order to read the rest of the books. I love JK Rowling's style- so easy to read and fun. A great book for adults and kids.
Rating: Summary: A really great book. Review: This was a really great book. I can't wait to read the thrid one
Rating: Summary: Great book, but it did have one major flaw Review: This was a really really great book, except for one thing. Why did the wizards always have to make sure the muggles didn't know they existed? The only thing the book had to say on the subject was, that the muggles would always be asking them for things! That was a pretty lame excuse. However, I did think it was a very fun read, and, I am anxiously waiting the next book.
Rating: Summary: The second-best book I've ever read! Review: This was a terrific book, second only to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban!
Rating: Summary: Delightful - Except for ........... Review: This was a very delightful book even for an adult. It caught my interest right away and once I started it I had to hurry and finish it. However, I do have one issue that struck me and I must say I was not very pleased. Being basically a "children's" book, she used the word "damn". Now, I know that it was NOT necessary to have this type of language in this book. If I were to let a child that I know read it, I would have to scratch through that word or any of those type of words she may use in future books.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This was a very well written book. The language was colorful and described the funny and whimsical characters to a "T", and the hilarious escapades of Harry Potter and his friends are catch you off guard. The vile characters like Dudley remind the average person of certain people they know, and the story has the old fairy tale guidelines interwoven in the plot. Overall his is a wonderful book to read to kids of all ages, in fact I happen to know some twenty year olds that can't put this book down! :-)
Rating: Summary: I was enthralled from the first page to the last. Review: This was a wonderful book about a boy named Harry Potter who finds out he is a wizard and must discover the Sorcerer's Stone before it falls into the clutches of the evil wizard Voldemort. You will LOVE this book.
Rating: Summary: I loved it. It was full of adventure and surprise. Review: This was a wonderful book. I enjoyed every minute. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers's Stone was the best book I have ever read!
Rating: Summary: Lovely Debut Novel Review: This was a wonderful first novel, and I think that Rowland has done the world a good deed in getting kids to read. This series is not just for children, as anyone who has read it will tell you.Harry Potter, just for anyone who's been living under a rock, is a browbeaten 12-year old kid who was raised by his aunt and uncle after his parents were supposedly killed in a car crash. Shortly after his 12th birthday, he is informed that his parents were a witch and a wizard, they didn't die in a car crash (they were murdered by the most feared dark wizard ever), he's going to a school for magic, and there's a whole world out there he never knew about. It would take far too long to explain the whole story in one review, so I suggest you go out and read the book. This is a book that has universal appeal; written simply enough for kids but with a plot to grip adults as well. Other people have compared it to the Chronicles of Narnia, but I believe it is better than that. You can actually believe Harry Potter is a kid with his own problems and worries--I never could get involved in the Narnia Chronicles, they were too stilted to be real people. Rent it at the library if you want to read before you buy, but I can almost guarantee that you would not find your money ill-spent.
