Rating: Summary: I am rating the Teaching Guide, not the book! Review: This teaching guide is very poor. It has very little reproducible material, is not suitable for higher middle level (grades 7 and 8) and gives a cursory sweep through the story adding little that I hadn't thought of myself. I hope others come out with better guides, since this one is doing me absolutely no good. Even the project ideas were dull and unimaginative. Librarians and teachers: Don't waste your money on this one!

Rating: Summary: the magical speal for all readers Review: this very book has casts its speal on not just the readers but the whole world.
Rating: Summary: It's a page turner. Review: This was a fun book and is a wonderful story for younger readers. Beyond the 'good' versus 'evil' core, there are many Aesopian morality lessons throughout. That's good. What I find great is that J. K. Rowling takes the younger readers on a special journey. She frees their minds to think with creativity and flare. I think that's what most teen books lack. Rowling has a rich imagination. She packed loads of funny, thrilling, and suspenseful situations into this already classic book. But in doing that, the book thins out. It's not nearly as rich and full and deep as I think it could have been. As I was reading, I could almost see the book outline she was writing from. There is no situation where you wonder if Harry is going to make it out okay or if he's going to be affected in a profound way, as in by a great loss. It seemed to be a paint-by-number plot. Rowling's major characters, though cute, are the least imaginitive part of the book. They're generic--cookie cutter characters on a great ride. I wanted to know and care more for Harry's best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, but there was little to hold onto. Maybe they'll be developed more as the series progresses. As far as grabbing the reader, Rowling is truly gifted. She has great pacing and ends every page with a 'hook', to make the reader want to see what is on the other side. This is a good beginning to the Potter series, I just hope she enriches the reading experience to the deeper degree I believe is attainable.
Rating: Summary: A Grand Book Review: this was a great book to read. I enjoyed every second I read it. I felt like i was in the middle of everything that was happening. The movie doesn't even compare to the Book. And if any one is looking for a book that they could read over and over again I would recomend the first harry potter and same with all the other harry potters
Rating: Summary: Great read. I couldn't put it down Review: This was a great book. My father bought it for me, and I had some spare time so I started reading it one night. By the end of the next morning I had finished it. The plot was absorbing, the characters amusing and the whole wizard community amazing. I have already ordered Prisoner of Azkaban and look foward to reading it.
Rating: Summary: Enchanting! A great 1st book! Review: This was a great book. The story was a little slow in the beginning, but picked up after about 20 pages. I am 23 years old and I thoroughly enjoyed the story from (mid)beginning to end! A great book for all people of all ages!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone Review: This was a great book.I especially liked all the magic and enchantment, all of the fantasy and the story was incredible. J.K. Rowling is a witty and suffisticated writter her stories are incredible. The way she came up with such a fine sport as Quidittch is just so marvelous and ingenious.I also saw the movie it was great but I still think the book was better. The movie was good and all but it didn't present the magic, action, and the world of Harry Potter well.So in conclusion the book was very exciting and entertaining.
