Rating: Summary: A magical tale that willl keep you on the edge of your chair Review: This is the best ever book. It is a thriller, comedy, drama, action, and adventure! It is all about a boy named Harry Potter who is always bullied by his cousin Dudley, and is disliked by his Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon. His parents supposedly died in a "car crash" when he was a baby. Ten years later, on his brother, Dudley's birthday, he goes to the zoo with him, since the woman who was meant to look after him, Mrs. Figg broke her leg. When they were looking at snakes, Dudley and his friend found the biggest one, a boa constricter. Harry starts talking to it! A few weeks before his birthday, he gets mysterious letters addressed to him, but he's not aloud to read them. When he finally does get to read them, he finds out they are from wizards, and before he knows it, he is at Hogwarts School of Whichcraft and Wizardry. You'll have to read on from there!!
Rating: Summary: The best Harry Potter book yet! Review: This is the best Harry Potter book so far. It has the most magic in it so if your like me I like lots of magic. No matter how old you are you will like this book.
Rating: Summary: A fabulous book for children AND adults!!! Review: This is the best magic/fantasy story since The Hobbit! I loved it as much as my children did, if not more. Hooray for Ms. Rowlings, and we hope she writes many, many sequels. This is the kind of book that you absolutely "live in" while reading. Impossible to put down.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Books Review: This is the best series in the world. The writing is very descriptive and the author make the book appear to be written from a 13 year olds point of view. You can feel the excitement during the games or the suspense just as a teacher rounds the corner and they are almost caught. I cannot wait for the rest of the series to come out...these first three books were so good, I read them all in 2 days!
Rating: Summary: And the story continues as well as it started! Review: This is the best series of books I have seen for the entire family to enjoy! How many parents have admitted to reading the books before their children?? I'm one of those parents...and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Thoroughly enjoyable, it teaches morals as well as entertains. Kudos to Ms. Rowling! Worth the buy...your family will enjoy it for years.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Start Review: This is the book that introduced to the world of J.K. Rowling and gave us fiction that can actually be read by the children of today. This realm exists as part of our own and has encouraged students with its classic good vs evil imagery. This book inspires the imagination and takes us on a journey through our own minds. I would hardly call this work "pagan" in any sense. Those who rage against it for being a "manual of the Occult" need to learn more ABOUT the Occult before trying to classify things AS Occult. They also need to stop reading their children tales like Cinderella--which hold many of the same elements.
Rating: Summary: FANTASIA REVISITED! Review: This is the book that started it all! By now you've seen the film. I finally got around to reading this cleverly packaged fast paced fantasy. The next time you see Owls flitting about you, stop and listen. Perhaps you are being summoned to the next meeting of the Hogwarts. The book approaches familiar themes of injustice to fragile, vulnerable children by transforming them into gifted beings. A little "divine intervention" keeps the action sparkling, crisp and "rights" a lot of "wrongs".If you liked both this book and the film, make sure you see "SHREK". It is another action filled fantasy.
Rating: Summary: The Beginning¿ Review: This is the book that started it all, the Harry Potter-mania. In this first novel of the epic series of seven, J.K. Rowling introduces us to the world of Harry Potter and Hogwarts. Basically summed up, this is the story of Harry Potter, a young boy who grew up in an abusive home with his aunt and uncle, not thinking there was anything special about himself but in fact discovers that he is perhaps (to his utter surprise) the most famous wizard of modern times, bound by destiny to the most powerful and evil wizard of all time. The book (and in the fact the rest of the series) follows Harry's adventures with his friends Ron and Hermione and fellow classmates as they make there way through 7 years of wizards school at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, surviving treacherous schoolyard bullies and rivals, an interesting assortment of teachers and classmates and just the pure subtleties of adolescence - all the while battling the forces of evil. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone introduces the story and follows his adventures in his first year of school. Enthralling and funny and very much captivating, Rowling's writing style is refreshing. Like a good mystery and a thriller, Rowling leaves on the edge of your seat as you, along with Harry and his friends, attempt to discover "who-done-it." In this case, Harry and friends uncover a plot by an evil wizard trying to attempt to steal a powerful stone that may very well bring back to power the most evil wizard known to man. As is the case in all of Rowling's books, all is not as it seems. The Harry Potter books have truly achieved a pop culture icon status over the last few years and reading through the books it is easy to see why. They are simply that good. Whether you are a child or an adult, you'll love Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, as well as all the other books in the series. My total read time: 9 hours, 1 night. Total pages: 308. Highest Recommendation
