Rating: Summary: "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" Review: This book, which is the first in the series, is definitely good enough to earn a five-star rating, but it isn't *as* good as the third and fourth books. However, it is most definitely worth reading. It introduces the reader to Harry Potter, an orphaned eleven-year-old boy. He is forced to live with his abominable relatives, the Dursleys--Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia (who was Harry's mother's sister), and their fat son Dudley, who is a rotten, spoiled brat. Harry can make strange things happen when he is angry or upset, and he finds that he can also communicate with snakes. However, he never attaches any importance to any of these events. One day, a letter arrives for Harry. He is on the verge of opening it when his Uncle Vernon snatches it away from him. Upon reading the letter, Uncle Vernon panicks and doesn't let Harry or Dudley see the contents of the letter. Over the next few days, floods of letters begin to arrive for Harry, but his aunt and uncle prevent him from reading any of them. A day or two before Harry's eleventh birthday, Uncle Vernon finally goes mad and takes the family away from their home on Privet Drive to live in a tiny shack perched on a rock in the middle of the sea, assuming that no letters can reach them there. However, just after midnight on Harry's birthday, a giant named Rubeus Hagrid shows up in the hut and hands Harry a copy of the letter. It is sent from a place called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and informs Harry that he has been accepted to the school. Hagrid informs Harry that he is actually a wizard, and gives him certain startling facts about his past that the Dursleys failed to tell him. At Hogwarts, Harry finds that a horrible figure from his past is coming after him again for the first time in ten years. Worse still, someone in Hogwarts may be helping this evil shadow to come closer and closer to Harry.............. Read on and discover the truth about Harry's past, and meet a host of different characters as Harry learns more about the wizarding world and goes to Hogwarts.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book! Review: This book, with a well-developed plot and very well developed characters, is a must to read. I've never seen such a unique book, and the author's creativity is admirable. I've never seen a book like the ones in the Harry Potter series. It also has a very interesting, unexpected twist, as all harry Potter books do.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Book Review: This charming book is wonderful for children and adults alike. I recommend it for anyone who has a thirst for adventure. When I got this book, I assumed it would be directed more at children and did not anticipate being so captivated. As soon as I finished the book, I turned around and read it again!
Rating: Summary: 5 Stars! Review: This debut novel and the starting book of the Harry Potter 7-part series captivates you and make you read until the last sentence. Many people have banned the Harry Potter series because of the witchcraft and wizardry thing. This is an insult to the Wicca world. I am not a Wicca but I have friends who are Wiccas and I am sure that they feel insulted by it. Some people have no compassion and are so selfish that they can't even think about anything else but themselves. People who ban the series really need to get a life. Anyway, I really loved this first novel by J.K. Rowling. Magical Stuff. I couldn't put it down for a second after I started reading the first page. When Harry discovers he's been lied to by his (really cruel) relatives, Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia, all this years, he also finds out that he's of magical blood. Son of James and Lily Potter, former head prefects of Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry and the victims of Lord Voldemort, the most feared wizard on the Dark Side that even folks are scared to even mention his name. They refer to him as "You Know Who". On the school train, Hogwarts Express, Harry meets his future best friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. He also meets his arch-rival, Draco Malfoy and his two sidekicks, Crabbe and Goyle. All sorts of magical stuff begin to happen the moment Harry steps onto the grounds of the prestigious school, Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This is a book that anyone who loves adventure and magical stuff and not racists should read!
Rating: Summary: Do you believe in magic? Review: This disarming little book sweeps you up and hurtles you along with its hero Harry, a small boy with a tragic past. Fresh and imaginative, the story evokes sympathy and admiration for Harry and his gutsy approach to his problems, some of them life threatening. An enchanting read for all ages.
Rating: Summary: "Harry Potter" is a true page-turner.(Read it!) Review: This exciting book with dazzling adventures is a true page turner making it hard to put down. As Harry Potter discovers, he's a wizard and is taken from his cupboard under the stairs to a magical, wizardy world where he goes to Hogwarts and meets many new friends and goes through many adventures. This book is full of suspense. We guarantee that you will enjoy this extremely, excellent book.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter: Wizard in training Review: This fantastic book features an eleven year old boy, Harry Potter, who lives with his Aunt, Uncle, and spoiled cousin Dudley. Orphaned at infancy, Harry is forced to live with his very ordinary Aunt and Uncle. They bring him up like an ordinary child, never telling him of his hidden magical powers. They never tell him why strange things sometimes happen to him, like accidentally jumping on the school roof, to get away from bullies, when he was only trying to jump on some trash cans. Or when his Aunt Petunia cuts his hair in a terrible way, it grows back in one night. Until one day, when Harry receives a yellow envelope with green ink in the mail. Harry is about to open it, when his uncle snatches it out of his hand and rips it up in pure terror. Harry is soon beset from all sides by the same exact letter, but his uncle rips them all up. Finally, a wizard comes to Harry to take him to a school to learn about wizardry, Harry hidden magical power. And there begin Harry's adventures...

The characters are well developed and the story line has a lot of great twists and turns. I would recommend this book, or any of the Harry Potter stories to anyone in desparate need of a good laugh!
Rating: Summary: Refreshing & Imaginative Review: This first in the series of Harry Potter books is very imaginative and entertaining. Harry Potter is a young wizard temporarily raised in a world of non-wizards. When he reaches a certain age where he can be accepted for the famous wizard school 'Hogwarts', he is sent for by a giant and amusing experiences follow, eventually arriving at the school. The excitement really begins after that point with all sorts of magic potions, spells, charms, witches, wizards, very humorous ghosts, and much more! This book is filled with the imagination that spans several generations of readers, from children on up into adulthood. You can not help but be captured by the writing creativity of J.K. Rowling, as the story grows and grows and grows. You will simply love it! This is by far the most refreshing series of books that has come along in a very long time. Rowling is definitely on to something new and exciting, and I tip my hat to her. The world of Harry Potter is a great place to get lost in imagination. Exciting adventure for one and all!
