Rating: Summary: Magic Makers Review: This book is long, but extremely good. Harry Potter has a three book long series, so far. Each book has around three hundred pages. I loved this book because I just love stuff like magic, mysteries, secrets, and sports.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely fantastic Review: This book is more proof that age ranges don't matter. I am a teenager who could not understand the craze over Harry Potter, so naturally I checked it out of the library. The book collected dust for a few days until I was in bed on Christmas Day, with a miserable cold. I planned to glance through the book before falling asleep. Didn't happen.I was swept up into the world of Harry Potter. I played Quidditch, avoided nasty professors, dined in the Great Hall, and screamed aloud when Voldemort appeared. I don't want to give too much away, but this is basically the story of Harry Potter, a boy who finds out on his eleventh birthday that he is a wizard. He goes on to have plenty of adventures at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, escaping his evil Muggle foster family. What I love about this book is that even though we're dealing with wizards, broomsticks, and magic, we can still relate to the story. The characters are really no different from us. Full of plot twists, memorable characters, and plenty of magic, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone will be loved for many years. I finished the entire book the same day I started. Sleep was forgotten until the book was finished at 11 pm. Just five more minutes, mom, I swear I'm not tired, I just have to finish these last few pages. Needless to say, I will be reading the other Harry Potter books shortly.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter 1 Review: This book is my all time favorite. In this book they talk about a boy named Harry Potter that is raised by his mean aunti and uncle (the Dursleys). But Harry Potter is actually a wizard. When he was a little boy Lord Voldemort killed his parents and also tried to kill Harry too but didn't succeed. He was gave to his only relatives the Dursleys to be raised (note his mother is a muggle, which is a human). When he grew older he finds out that he is actually a wizard and gets sent to hogwarts, which is a wizarding school. He goes to Diagon Ally to but school supplies and all that, with Hagrid (a big fellow that is very helpful from Hogwarts). During the school year he finds out that he is very good at quidditch, which is just a sport in the wizarding world. He meets two very nice and helpful friends there, also all three of them were sent to Gryffindor which is one of the 4 places to go for teaching. But evil strikes and Lord Voldemort is behind it. Harry find out that he's trying ti steat the Sorceror's Stone, which is believed to give you eternal life. So he sets out to find the Sorceror's Stone and try to defend it from Voldemort. It has drama, action, wierdness, plus it's hilarious. In this book you will descover exitement in every corner. This book truly has everything you want in a book.
Rating: Summary: Despite the Hype, I enjoyed being a kid again! Review: This book is not for scholars. It is a easy, fast read. You could even say that it was a little predictable. But, that is cynicism talking. To those adults that are reading this book and being disappointed because it isnt realistic, try and remember when you were a child. The good guys won and evil had its limits, remember? Enjoy this book, it may help you get in touch with an aspect of your personality that you forgot existed!
Rating: Summary: great Review: This book is NOT just for kids. It has plenty of humor that adults would get. this was one of the most entertaining books i've ever read. I am now a great fan of Quidditch. (read the book to find out what it is)
Rating: Summary: The book that started it all!!! Review: This book is not my favorite but it is wonderful. I can find no fault with it what-so-ever! I loved it. The only reason I rate the 3rd and 2nd books higher is that we already know the characters by then so the story comes along faster and easier because we don't have to explain so many things. But that is no fault of this book. Unique fiction for older children that adults can fully enjoy and look forward too?!? I cannot believe she did it, but she has kept it up for 5 books now and I cannot wait for the final 2. :)
Rating: Summary: This is a wonderful read for all ages Review: This book is not to be missed. I read it to our 12 and 10 year old and we couldn't wait to get onto each chapter and find out what happens next. The characters are so real and the descriptions of all the places make you feel like you're right there! Bring on more Harry Potter books!!!
Rating: Summary: I can't see what everybody sees in it! Review: This book is not what I would call a masterpiece in my view. Why is this book better than "A Wrinkle in Time" or "The Hobbit"? Why don't I see 900-something 5 star reviews on real books? Could somebody answer this for me? Is it just because this book is popular? Why aren't the other good books? I gave this book 1 star for effort and another for a, well, amusing story. About the sequels, take books like "Goosebumps." Way too many sequels, BAD BOOKS. Rushed authors, BAD BOOKS. I predict #3 will be yet another BAD BOOK. Though I can't see how this was a STUPENDOUSLY WONDERFUL FABULOUS book either.
Rating: Summary: A Spellbounding Story Review: This book is now one of my favorites. It was hard to put down this action-packed book! The story line and plot were very original. It amazes me that someone could think up such an amazing story. I can't wait to read the upcoming books. Everyone I know loves this book! If I could I would go to Hogwarts. Congradulations to J.K. Rowlings for writing this wonderful novel!
