Summary: This book is an excelent fantasy and imagination one
Review: There is not much to be say about this book, you should read it and you will find yourself in a magic world where everything is misterious and interesting

Summary: Don't even try to resist Pottermania
Review: There is something about reading what "everyone" is reading that goes against my grain, so I put off Harry Potter until a couple of weeks ago. Then, in anticipation of the movie, decided to read a little of The Socerer's Stone to get an idea of what all the hoopla was about. At the risk of sound trite, I couldn't put it down. Once I did (which was when I finished it), I immediately worked through book two and then book three. (I've just ordered book four and eagerly await it.)
With more than 3000 other reviews already posted, there is very little I can add except to say to anyone who, like me, thought that they were a little too mature, too old, too well-read, or too emotionally advanced to enjoy Ms. Rowling's creation, "Get on with it! Do it now! Stop depriving yourself!"
These books are a pure unmitigated delight. The allusions to mythology, fairytales, and popular culture are both many and extremely clever. Even someone like me who did not attend a private school, can enjoy the school rivalries and tricks.
Buy this book. Read it. Now! (And then go see the movie.)

Summary: A great book - for adults as well as children
Review: There isn't anything I can say that hasn't been said in the thousands of other reviews of this book, but I will simply add that as an adult, I thought the book was wonderful. I read it in one sitting - that's how great I thought it was. To those who are concerned about their children reading things about witches and warlocks - phhht. Even children know fantasy from fact. This is clearly fantasy.

Summary: Harry harry, he's our man.....
Review: There once was a boy named Harry, who's parents met their demise because of a man of dark arts, but Harry was far to wise.

As a baby, left with a lighning bolt scar and no parents to find retreat, Harry was brought to the muggle world his aunt Petunia and uncle Vernon to meet.

They took him in without love, keeping hatred for him in their courts and all the while unknowing he'd be sent to learn at Hogwarts.

Hagrid, the game keeper, found Harry and helped him collect all his stuff for his very first year at Hogwarts The express came and went in a huff.

This school of wizardry awaited the day for Harry to arrive. He came upon the sorting hat "...to Gryffindor..." with slightest surprise.

He soon met up with two others, both students just like he, Harry and Ron and Hermione, they soon were best buddies those three.

Through the classes of the school year Harry obviously learned a whole lot, yet trouble always found him whether he looked for it or not.

The sorcerer's stone was guarded by a big huge dog with three heads someone was trying to steal it so Harry saved it instead.

I won't give away the story and how the ending came about you should be sure and read it so you definitely do not miss out!

Summary: Perfect book to get kids started reading!
Review: There's just one way to put it. The book is terrific. First chapter is a little hard to get going in. It's hard to understand what's going on, - but as soon as the 2nd chapter gets going - so does the book. I loved it! Got my daughter back to books. She would suddenly not read - now she does! Good for both child and adult. Read it!

Summary: Where about Diana Wynne Jones?
Review: There's no doubt that this first Harry Potter novel isdelightful reading, but have readers noted its worrying similarity toDiana Wynne Jones' novels? Harry Potter seems to be distilled from two Jones novels: Archer's Goon, in which a middle-class English boy learns he is the youngest of a family of squabbling gods, and Eight Days of Luke, in which a boy being raised by horrid relatives who dote on their own fat, cruel son and treat the hero like a male Cinderella wins his freedom with the help of the Norse god Loki.

What's worrying is that if you mixed these two Jones novel together, you'd get...Harry Potter. Have other readers noticed this?

Summary: Join the club!
Review: There's not much original praise to heap on this book, but I wanted to advise those who haven't yet heeded Harry's call-don't wait any longer!

I've had the first two Potter books sitting on my bookshelf for a couple of years, and finally felt compelled to read Book One, 'cause I wanted to read the book before seeing the film. What was I waiting for?! This book is pure, unadulterated, exhilarating fun. I felt like I was eleven years old again. Can't wait to see the movie, and to read books two through four.

Summary: Very readable, entertaining, funny with loads of imagination
Review: There's really only one way to describe this book and the entire series so far - well written entertainment for kids; if you have kids in your life, buy them the whole set of Harry Potter and you too will be their hero soon enough. As a teacher and mother of two avid readers, we were all happily entertained by this book and appreciated the author's fabulous imagination in creating a whole new alternative world to that of the 'Muggins'. Now, I have to make an appointment with my kids to get my hands on the other two books: I can't imagine how any child, boy or girl, would be disappointed with these stories.

Summary: A wonderfully written book!
Review: There's something very soothing about reading the Rowling's series. Harry Potter, an orphan, lived miserably in a cupboard for ten years and suddenly discovered that he's better than the rest. Isn't this what every kid with low self-esteem ever wanted? To be suddenly recognized and appreciated and forget about the harsh reality.

Summary: WOW!
Review: These 3 books were GREAT! If you liked them, you will also like: -any of the Oz books (1-40) -Edward Eager books -E. Nesbit books -Patricia Wrede books
