Summary: A triumph!!
Review: The story of Harry Potter is fast becoming one of the best-known stories in children's or young adult literature. The stories have caught on like wildfire and Harry's now famous face-- complete with lightning bolt scar and thick, black rimmed glasses with tape-adorn everything from figurines to bookmarks, coffee mugs to tee shirts. It has become a marketing phenomenon unlike anything else seen before.

The REASON for the popularity for Harry and his friends is because the book is excellent. Lousy book characters may make an appearance on the side of the Taco Bell large soda cups, but their time in the limelight is short lived, indeed. Harry Potter is different. In a way that few other books have done, Potter is able to cross the boundaries of age, class, race and gender and be immediately likable to almost everyone who picks the book up. As a school librarian and reading teacher, I have drawn in even the most reluctant readers into reading through the Potter books. I have even had students as young as third grade attacking "Goblet of Fire" with absolute gusto--a book that is roughly the thickness of a telephone directory, weighing in at 734 pages in hardback.

The reason, of course, is because the books are GOOD, each one getting progressively better and a bit more complicated than the last. Ms. Rowling is able to weave minor and major plot twists around and through the main plot of the story with the skill of a master storyteller. This is not easy to do without loosing the reader when the target age for Potter books is usually less than 15 years of age. Perhaps it is BECAUSE of some of these subplots that readers are especially drawn in-- they always somehow merge into one another in wonderful and unexpected ways. If there ever were books that you kept reading just to find out what would happen next, these would be the ones.

With over 3,000 reviews as of this writing, there's little else I can add that hasn't been said before. Harry Potter is a young boy living with his aunt and uncle, the Dersley's, who are perhaps the WORST characters in modern children's literature since Roald Dahl's "The Twits". Harry's aunt and uncle shower affection on their own son, Dudley (who is best described in later works as "a great blithering git"), while ignoring Harry as much as humanly possible. We find out why the no-nonsense aunt & uncle despise Harry so much when a mysterious letter from Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft arrives informing Harry that he is to begin his secondary education there.

It turns out that Harry's parents, powerful wizards, were killed by the most evil wizard in history, Lord Voldemort (often referred to as "you-know-who", so feared is even his name). Voldermort attempted to kill Harry too when Harry was still a baby, but somehow-- though no one yet understands how-- it backfired and all but destroyed Voldermort himself. Meanwhile, years later as Harry joins other students at Hogwarts, there are rumors afoot that Voldermort himself is regaining power and plans to come back to finish what he started and ring in a new age of unparalleled evil.

Filled with fantastic creatures and odd characters, including the lovable giant of a man, Hagrid (who has a penchant for dangerous creatures, such as dragons), "Sorcerer's Stone" is the excellent beginning to a deeply engrossing series. Most people I talk to about this book, child, teen or adult, devour these books and immediately take up the next one. Those who have read all four books in the series are often seen gloomily slouching about, waiting for the next installment (I include myself into this swarthy horde as well).

Riveting, complex and wonderfully entertaining, "Sorcerer's Stone" is sure to delight all ages and tastes. If you've not yet begun on this series, then by all means DO!!

Summary: Harry Potter's Thrilling Life Adventures
Review: The story opens with a magic little boy, Harry Potter, who is left on the steps of his aunt and uncle after the death of his parents by the dark lord, Voldemort. After Harry struggles with life being neglected by his aunt and uncle Harry comes across a deep secret that was being kept from him, for Harry is a magic wizard. Not only is little Harry a wizard he is on his way to Hogwarts, the best school of witchcraft and wizardry in the world. At the school Harry takes in the meaning of what it's like to have friends and learns about his history, past, and parents. Also Harry must overrun many obstacles, his main one staying away from Voldemort. Harry and his friends must keep the great stone from him to insure the wizards' world safety for once Voldemort gets his hands on it the dark lord would be grated immortality. This is a very suspenseful book; it ties you in and forces you to keep turning the pages. One cant help but to read on and find out what happens next, this is definitely a Five star book recommend for everyone of all ages.

Summary: STUPID!
Review: The storyline is pretty good. I do like the idea of a boy who knows nothing of what he is to become and how he will affect many people's lives just by living. But that has been overplayed too much. (Dune, Star Wars, both of which were ten times better.) He has friends with stupid names, teachers with stupid names and a lightning bolt on his forehead. (LOL)

I don't understand the big deal about this book. by people who are for it or against it. No, I don't beleive that Harry is Satan, but I do beleive that this book is average and there should not be a big hype over it.

I did like the ending. Harry, Ron, and Hermione had to use everything that they had learned to face VOLDAMORT! VOLDAMORT! VOLDAMART! (I SAID HIS NAME) It was interesting, but boring.

I'm going to go read my new Harry Harrison book and leave this one to [others].... I give this book, *Imprints a two over Harry's lightning bolt* a two. Have a nice day.

Summary: A tale of an out-of-the-ordinary young boy...
Review: The tale of an out-of-the-ordinary boy with a lightning scar... Ever since Harry was a young boy he always found himself in weird situations. Breaking glass to outragously growing hair overnight! Living with his only remaining relatives, the cruel Dursleys, they locked him in the cupboard whenever strange events would occur. It was always "his" fault. A normal life, right?...until his 11th birthday... all of a sudden he is thrown into a wacky mystical and magical world...of witches and wizards and dragons and creatures of all oddities! A school named "Hogwarts" where wizards "like himself" learn "magic"? And mail by owl? He learns of his past... The fate of you-know-who and his parents? Who is Lord Voldemort? And why is he after Harry? Is Harry really a legend in the wizarding world? This is a charming tale that is sure to bring to delight to readers of all ages! An excellent debut for J. K. Rowling and "Harry Potter"!

Summary: Harry Potter And The Socerer's Stone
Review: The tile of the book is Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling,It is a Fantasy. The book is about a boy named Harry Potter goes to a school by the name of hogwarts to become a great wizard. While attending the school he has great adventures, and doesn't ever relize the great destiny that awaits him. I do not usually read fantasy books but, I was pushed to read this. I loved the book it was interesting, and made me go to a different place every time i picked up the book. It distription of the magicial word amazed me. "You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there.""I think I can tell who the wrong sort are for my self, thanks," he said coolly. This quote tells you what kind of person he is. He doesn't care what others think about him and sometimes that is hard for people to do. The author has bulit his character Harry as a person with strong belifes and values. He also protred him as a chararter with anourmos amount of courage! Harry Potter is a very well rounded character and he has a good heart. I really enjoyed the book yet there were some places that it seemed to go on for awhile but very few parts it did. I would encourage everyone to at least read the frist chapter to get a feel for the book it is something the whole family will love.

Summary: Harry Potter-Mr. Kilts
Review: The title of my book is Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone. It was published in 1997. The main characters are Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Rubius Hagrid, Draco Malfoy and Albus Dumbledor.
A lot of fishy things have happened in Harry's life that he could not explain like the time when he woke up with his hair so messy that his aunt, Petunia Dursley got mad and shaved his head bald. The next day he woke up a with a full head of hair again. This he could could not explain so his aunt and uncle shut him in a cupboard for a week. His cousin Dudley Dursley was not much diferent. Every day Dudley and his gang of pretty much Dudleys beat him up or pelted him with Dudley's old toys.
One day Harry got a letter in the mail but gefore he could read it his uncle snatched it and ripped it up before his eyes. A couple of days later letters shot through the mail slot and Harry's uncle Vernon Dursley nailed up the slot and took Harry away. Then on his birthday a couple of weeks later Hagrid, the game keeper of Hogwarts, came and took Harry off to Hogwarts to learn witchcraft and wizardry. There Harry found friends and adventures and fun. The book is called HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERE'S STONE because towards the end of the book Harry goes looking for Voldermort and the sorcere's stone. Voldermort is a dark wizard who kills good wizards and witches. The sorcere's stone is what to believed a legend but someone created it, it can turn any metal into gold and it can also preduce the elixer of life which can give you everlasting life. The reason why they go together is that in the book Voldermort wants to get it so he can have everlasting life.
On a scale of one to five I would give this book a four. It is a really great book and I suggest you read it. The moral of this story is: never try to hide something that shouldn't be hidden.
