Summary: Reminiscent of The Great Brain at the Academy
Review: The Sorcerer's Stone brought back memories of reading The Great Brain at the Academy as a boy. The "boarding school" setting of both and people sneaking around getting into mischief caused this connection for me. Neither book causes great intellectual stimulation, but both are enjoyable. The Sorcerer's Stone is not a literary masterpiece, but it is definitely a good read.

The value of the book lies in its appeal to kids. Hopefully more kids will be reading because of J. K. Rowling's books. Maybe the children that read her books will find themselves to be more than what they seem to be, just as Harry Potter found out that he was more than a simple boy.

Summary: Sorcerer's Stone - an enchanting read?
Review: The sorcerer's Stone is the debuet of the fantasticaly imaginative 'Harry Potter' series. As I live in England, I read the 'Philosiphers Stone' but I'm sure it's pretty much the same. The sorcerer's Stone is about a 10yr old boy called Harry Potter (in case you didn't know), a usual, boring sounding name....... but Harry is not an ordinary boring boy....... and his strangeness goes deeper than a lightening shaped scar.... The real talent by J.K Rowling is that she manages to break the usual stream of 'Fairy Tales' involving witches and wizards etc. Instead of being bored by a mundane novel involving totaly unbelievable blue-eyed fairies and wicked witches, you find yourself being swept up in a fast-moveing, detailed world where the idea of sudenly finding out you have magical powers seems completely normal. In fact, after reading this book you have to blink and re-adjust to reality. J.K Rowling manages to create a character who is so lifelike you find yourself feeling sorry for Harry as he falls headfirst into a dangerous adventure on his first term at the strangely named 'Hogwarts' school for wizards.........

Summary: TSS is very cool!
Review: The Sorcerers Stone (TSS) is a very cool book. The Dursleys are a bunch of stupid muggles who should not treat Harry like they do. If I was Harry, once I am grown up, I'd turn them into a bunch of frogs! I think the Mirror of Erised is a pretty cool idea. The Sorcerers Stone is also a very cool idea.

Summary: Sarah reviews Sorceror's Stone
Review: The Sorceror's Stone is are a must read for people who enjoy books in the adventure genre. It isn't a hard book to read, so I recommend it for readers around the ages of eight and older.I personally enjoyed the book even though it gave a false perception of witches and wizards,never-the-less I did not find the book harmful. The beginning is a bit slow but I promise after the second chapter it gets alot more interesting. It starts out with a Cinderella-like beginning when the reader figures out that there's something special about Harry and he's being constantly punished for it,(like Harry having to sleep in the cupboard.)But unlike the beginning there's a happy ending that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Summary: Not the Best of 'em-but need to read
Review: The stories of Harry Potter are definitely some of the most original and creative stories I've read. This first novel introduces the ideas and characters very well yet once you've read the other books of the series, you will see how this is certainly not the best. When I finished this book (as well as the second one-The Chamber of Secrets) I thought that it was a very well writen children's story. It's almost like a fairy tale. It's not until later that it changes a bit to show that there actually are some serious issues in this fantasy world. I would definitely recomend this book but just know that if you aren't that impressed with it (or the next one), keep going. It gets better than this.

Summary: Very entertaining and pleasant read
Review: The story (now 3 stories) of Harry Potter and friends are really fun to read, and can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. If you like these, you SHOULD NOT MISS OUT on reading the 5 book series of Taran the Pig-keeper (The Book Of Three, etc) by LLoyd Alexander. It is truly a 5 star series.

Summary: J.K. rowling writes a very gratifying and adventurous book.
Review: The story is about a young boy name Harry Potter who lives with his Uncle and Aunt, the Dursleys. Life for Harry Potter has always been miserable especially growing up in a horrible envionment iwth cruel treatment until one day on his 11th birthday, he discovers something the Dursleys been keeping away from him all his life. Harry finds out that he is not a normal boy after all and is actually a wizard in fact. So Harry goes off to The Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he learns everything that takes him to be a wizard. The story is filled with mystical clues and eventually Harry finds out his true identity and destiny. This story is very entertaining, and I find it to be very unpredictable, because it's nonstop excitement. Rowling creates suspense by using characters and plots she creates with images that proves a good story is made from a good imagination. I highly recommend this book and the Harry Potter series for all ages.

Summary: Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone
Review: The story is about how Harry Potter first goes to Hogwarts. There, he mets two great5 friends. They were Hermoine Granger and Ron Weasley. He also met his arch rival, Draco Malfoy. Most of all, he met Voldemort, the guy who killed Harry's parents and gave him the lightning scar. He wanted to take the Sorcerer's Stone but fortunatly, Ron, Harry, and Hermoine stopped Voldemort from taking the Elixer of Life.
I read this book because it is really exciting. When I read the back of the book I got interested in it. I also read this book because it is a best selling book. I read this book on account of that J. K. Rowling is my favorite author. It was also fantasy and adventure, which I like to read. That is why I read this book.
My favorite part of the book is when Harry, Ron, and Hermoine play giant Wizard's Chess. It was when they were trying to get to Voldemort and the Sorcerer's Stone. They had to play when to get through. Ron was good at wizard's chess, so he was in command. Then, Ron made a bold and daring move. He let himself get eaten to get a checkmate.

Review: The story is well written especially as if it is through the eyes of an 11-year old. The story is wordy at times and I found it slow to read. The story is enjoyable, but I do not understand the fanatical behavior that it prompted in the public. I certainly would not have been on lines at midnight to have purchase any of the books. It is good but not great.
