Summary: An "older" reader's view
Review: The first book of the series, Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone establishes what might become the most beloved fantasy series since Lord of the Rings. I won't bother recapping the plot at this point since so many others have. Rather, I think it is important to look at how the novel interacts with the reader. Ostensibly aimed at younger readers, it never talks down to the reader nor does it coddle them. It deals with issues timely for its audience such as abandonment, fitting in, and school pressures. Ms. Rowling creates a world that is easy to get lost in yet remains grounded in the real world.

All in all, and excellent beginning.

Summary: Harry Potter rules!!!
Review: The first book was my favorite. I love how JKR presents the characters and how she explains things so thoroughly. I've read each book at least 5 times each and still think the 1st is most definitely the best. The writing style was such that you didnt want to put the book down after you started reading. There is suspense and suprise at the end and that is my idea of a good book.

Summary: This books very surprising the characters just come alive.
Review: The first books in one of the greatest series is no dissapointment. The way Ms.Rowling writes is fascinating and surprising. During the book you feel the pain and anger Harry must feel. You also feel his happiness when he goes to Hogwarts. This book is so good I think I might read it over and over.

Summary: A great read for all ages!!!
Review: The first Harry Potter book is like an introduction to the rest, but its great, anyway.
Its about Harry Potter, who at the age of 11 discovers that he is a WIZARD!
Already famous for surviving The dark Lord's curse,Harry has a delightful year at Hogwarts, but comes to face with none other than Lord Voldemort himself!!!

Summary: Harry Potter, the first is the best!
Review: The first Harry Potter book is my favorite of the series so far. I've only read the first three, and have started the fourth, but still the first is my favorite. I liked "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," the best because when starting to read a series you always pay more attention to the first one you read more. When reading a book for the first time in a series you're meeting the characters for the first time, and really able to visualize the scenery, characters, and really get a feel for the author's writing style. The first book lets you meet Harry, and lets you get a feel for his family, and his friends. When reading the book you start liking the people Harry likes and resenting the people Harry resents. J.K. Rowling is such a wonderful author because she writes so greatly that I'm unable to put the book down. Not only that, but she has a writing style that many people love and respect. I have seen elementary children, highschool, and grandparents all having the same reaction to her books. Being able to write to fit so many different age groups is quite amazing. The book is basically about Harry, and he has to live with his aunt, uncle, and cousin Dudley. They are muggles, which are also humans, anyways they are very mean, and he feels very unwelcome. Harry is a wizard, and on his 11th birthday he finds out he is a wizard and he gets to go to Hogwarts, which is a witches and wizardry school. The book is basically about Harry getting settled in their, and learning about his parents and the evil wizard Voldemort who killed his parents. The reason I was so amazed with this book is because I don't like fantasy books, and that's exactly what this book is, but I ended up not only loving it, but not being able to put it down. I would definately recommend this book to anyone and everybody!

Summary: Children's Literature An Adult Would Be Proud To Read
Review: The first Harry Potter book, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", is a classic example of fiction writing at it's best: we care for the characters, laugh and cry and gasp in all the right places...but most importantly, for this writer, the book has something happening on nearly every page, ends chapters with a cliffhanger, and builds a sensible and reasonable climax (even with an unexpected surprise that totally sets us up throughout the book) that make it the classic example of fine writing that it is -- no matter what your age.

Summary: good, but not amazing
Review: The first Harry Potter is a good book, imaginative and creative. I can see why kids who normally don't like to read enjoy this. However, I'm surprised to hear advanced readers, especially teens and adults, raving about this. I would think they'd enjoy something with more insight and emotional core.

Summary: The best book I've read in ages!
Review: The first Harry Potter was a huge surprise to me. I thought itwas gonna be a nerdy book about unrealistic things, but it wasn't. Itwas da bomb! Read it any age and get a great experience. (Get em all at the same time so u don't have to wait for the conclusions!)
