Summary: Incredibly fun and full of adventure for all ages!
Review: The debut novel, and what a debut!! The title of my novel is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone...if anyone can explain to me why that is please email me. J.K. Rowling did a wonderful job of letting Harry into my heart and feel I was rooting for his every move. He is an incredible character as are the rest of the characters! Can't wait to read more!

Summary: The best will always be the best
Review: The English have always been, over the last 150 years, the best and most creative writers of children’s books, and Rowling, in this case, is the latest child of this long and rich line. This book is the story of a young teenager who is a wizard by birth and is taken to a wizards’ school to learn the trade. The adventures are the best I have ever read on the subject. It completely regenerates the art of wizardry and the literature that comes from it. It is a whole and complete world with real families, real children, real brothers and sisters, friends and fiends. But moreover it is a world deeply possessed by the fight between two different types of magic : the clean and respectable line that is the official one, and the dark line that is trying to take over. This dark line even has its spies and servants in the other line and the fight is always to the finish and death is the stake. The child, Harry Potter, is a brilliant naive and courageous child that has the guts to oppose the dark forces and to defeat them with the help of a brilliant wizard who is working in the wings. But what is most beautiful is that those kids are real kids, with all the interests and the passions of children. It is a mirror of our world that really teaches courage, truthfulness, resistance against bad forces and the need to only rely on real strong convictions and not on vain rules coming from a society that only tries to regulate the chaos we live in and are only able to let the door open for dark forces to take over....Dr Jacques COULARDEAU, Paris Universities II and IX.

Summary: The First Time Is Always The Best
Review: The first book in J.K. Rowling's popular series of books is still the best of the lot. Young orphan Harry Potter is whisked away from his evil aunt and uncle's home to Hogwarts School For Magic. While at Hogwarts Harry becomes a wizard in training and learns about his mysterious past. The idea of a put upon child finding out he suddenly has powers others do not is strong stuff for the imagination. Many children feel powerless, and I think this is one of the reasons why children enjoy Harry Potter so much. Children are able to instantly identify with poor put upon Harry who finds out he has a wonderful secret life some place far away from home. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, like all the books in the series, reminds me of a Hardy Boys novel in that each episode is a mystery which must be solved by a child protagonist with very little help from adults. Of course the mystery element is guaranteed to keep the reader turning the pages long after their bed time has expired. I would guess that in years to come Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone will take it's rightful place on the shelf next to the likes of works by authors such as C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien.

Summary: Mystical Tale of Triumph!
Review: The first book in the "Harry Potter" saga is splendidly written. It feels like a cross between dream and imagination. Harry Potter is orphaned and sent to live with his aunt and uncle who do not appreciate Harry's unique person. He does not learn the feeling of true happiness until he goes to Hogwarts' school of wizardry where he meets other kids just like him. The story continues to blossom with the introduction of Quidditch, sort of like basketball on brooms! Harry is a natural player and is admired by his peers. And amidst this, Harry starts to uncover a mystery that may have something to do with his past. J.K. Rowling has created an exceptional character. This is a book not to be missed.

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a wonderful book!
Review: The first book in the Harry Potter series is a great book to get two of: one for the kid(s) and one for the parent(s) so they won't have to beg their kids to update them on where they are in the book. Young Harry Potter is an 11-year old with a serious problem: after ten years being the stomping block for his deplorable aunt, uncle, and cousin, he finds out that he's a wizard! Not just any wizard, he's known throughout the wizard world as the one person to survive a direct encounter with the supremely evil bad guy wizard, Voldemort (pardon, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named). Everyone seems to know this but him. I checked this book out from the library before I even knew about all the fuss it had created. I have always had a yen for fantasy and I loved it! I have read it three times now and am trying desperately to get my little brother into it. It appeals to both kids and adults like every great work of children's literature or filmaking, and the good news is: there are plenty left to go!

Summary: Literary magic for present day readers
Review: The first book in the Harry Potter series starts off a little childish in style, but quickly pulls you in and takes hold. The characters of Harry, Ron, and Hermoine emerge as the likeable trio of stars, who are pitted against the evil Lord Voldemort as he struggles to regain strength and power. It follows Harry through his first year at Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as well as on many misadventures along the way. The novel is certainly different enough from the movie to keep the attention and wonder of someone who has already seen the movie, yet it adds elements and adventures that were not filmed. This is absolutely one of the best novels I've read, up there with Tolkein and Bradbury. Check this one out, and don't fear the hype. It's simple yet interesting, and fantastic read that you'll tear right through!

Summary: THIS BOOK WAS GREAT FROM BEGINNING TO END
Review: The first book in the series was great! It was interesting throughout, from when they found out about Harry's magical powers, to the point where they tried to stop Voldemort from geting the Sorceror's Stone.

Summary: Pretty good book
Review: the first book is more like a long introduction (with a plot) to the second third and fourth books. I thought the ending was kind of rushed but it is still worth a 5 star rating to me.

Summary: The Harry Potter Original Is Great
Review: The first book is such a good book. Although I haven't read the other books, this one is a very good novel. The book has a lot of twists, and although these twists move along very quickly, the story stays interesting throughout the whole story, and that matters the most. A terrific book that can be read by children and adults alike. Highly recommended.
