Summary: I can't belive some people!!
Review: Okk, i am a big Harry Potter and Pokemon fan, i know some people think both are evil ::starts crying::

Yeah, the Harry Potter series contains magic, but it's kinda like a normal person's life + a little twist. I think it wasn't good that Harry was treated so poorly. things do get a lot more exciting though! read, it's a must!!

Summary: Where was this book when I was a kid? :)
Review: On Friday, I went to purchase the first Harry Potter book, intending to preview it and decide whether it would be appropriate for my seven year old. By Sunday, I had bought and read all four books in the series, and my seven year old had yet to read page one. It's fabulous!

Last night, I finally began to read it to my daughter. Every time we reached the end of a chapter, she begged and begged "Oh, Mom, PLEASE read ONE MORE?". This is the first "no pictures" book that has held her attention, and I predict many more evenings spent reading together. :)

Summary: Magical adventure for every age
Review: On his 11th birthday, Harry Potter learns from the giant Rubeus Hagrid that he is a wizard -- and a famous one for that matter. He happens to be the only person who ever survived an attack by the evil wizard Lord Voldemort. But Harry didn't just survive -- he also weakened the wizard so much that he seems to have vanished forever. Soon Harry enters a whole new magic world far away from the dreary life he led before with the Dursleys, his uncle, aunt, and cousin, who are Muggles -- non-magic people. At Hogwarts, a school of witchcraft and wizardry, he finally finds true friends -- Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger among others --, but also meets Draco Malfoy, who soon becomes his arch enemy. Harry and his friends are sorted into Gryffindor, one of the four school houses, the others being Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin.

During his first year at Hogwarts, Harry doesn't just learn basic wizardry, he also becomes a successful Seeker, a position in Quidditch, a game played by two of teams of seven players flying around on brooms. Harry's most exciting adventure is yet to come though -- he finds out that the Sorcerer's Stone, promising its owner gold and eternal life, is hidden in the school and in danger of being stolen -- but by whom and why?

In her childhood, J. K. Rowlings obviously read books by the British author Enid Blyton, who wrote many stories about children in boarding schools. Readers familiar with the work of both authors will find certain similarities, but Rowlings' managed to give the old plot idea a new twist -- she invented a truly wonderful magic world. Her rich details and lively prose pull the reader into Harry's world right from the start. It's no wonder that this magical adventure with its universal message of friendship, loyalty, and courage appeals to a lot of readers of every age. "Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone" is a book to be enjoyed again and again.

Summary: A young adult book that's better than most adult fiction
Review: On the recommendation of a friend who also writes young adult fiction, I purchased Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for my 11-year-old nephew, a self-proclaimed geek. He raved about it, couldn't put it down, annoyed his parents (and grandparents!) by reading passages aloud and insisting on recounting plot points, and refused to go outside to play until he had finished it. (Since he lives in a remote part of upstate N.Y., the later may have been prudence rather than fascination.) I, meanwhile, had somehow managed to end up with an extra copy of the book. Bored with my book club's selection for the January meeting, I picked up Harry Potter and began to read. I, too, couldn't put it down and stayed up until 2:00 a.m. to finish it. It is terrific, I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good story with strong characterizations, and I've already ordered the sequel from Amazon.uk.co!

Summary: A Decent Read, but not a "Classic"
Review: Once again, I was rather dissapointed from this book after the incredible hype it and the series has been getting (and the fact that the first three are holding the NYTBS list).

It is a good book, I will not deny that. It is fun, it has an upbeat style, and it gives good messages. But it is not the genre-changing novel I was expecting from the rave reviews it was getting.

There are thousands of great books put out each year, many of which are fantasy, and many of which are better than this piece. Nothing touches the classics (Lewis, Tolkein, Bahm, etc.), but even some of the recent children's fantasy has more appeal to me as an adult while still remaining fun and gripping for children. In particular I'm thinking of the Redwall series of books.

Anyway, I'll wrap this up before I ramble too long. It is a good book, and I commend Rowling on her obvious grasp of what people want. But it just isn't the kind of book that redefines the way I view children's fantasy. I strike a lot of it up to good timing, a lot of it to good publicity, and a lot of it to the fact that the American people just don't read anything non-mainstream.

Cheers.

Summary: Excellent book for all ages
Review: Once I believed that Harry Potter books were solely for children. Then I found out differently and read it myself. I do not even enjoy reading and found this book to be one I couldn't put down!

Summary: THE BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ! A MUST HAVE!
Review: Once I started reading it, I just got so addicted to it I jus can't put it down. It makes you to believe in the magic within, into the world of wizards and witches, into Hogwarts, and most of all, into Harry Potter's world. Full of imagination, this book is, the story twist into mysterious plots and the author reveal them in such a way....You'll just admire it. Before I read this book, I never know Fatasy books can be so great. And this book, I've got to admit, is the best book I've ever come across to read.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone is not only a must read for children, but also for adults, too. I'm sure they'll enjoy it too, even if through a different point of view.

Summary: Reader from Florida
Review: Once in a great while a writer will create a work that is truly captivating to most who read. The Harry Potter series is a magnificent blend of action, drama, suspense, and suprise. I loved every minute spent reading the three novels. It is important to note, however, that if you are a very concrete person, have a difficult time separating fantasy from reality, or are devoutly religous then you probably will not like this series. Otherwise, please give them a read to encourage more quality works of fantasy literature to be published for parents and children to share in.

Summary: You will not able to put "Harry Potter" down
Review: Once, you pick up this book and start to read it, you will not be able to put it down. It's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone by J.K Rowling.
The main character, of course, is Harry Potter. He is an orphan because his parents died when Harry was a Baby. He lives with his aunt's family and he feels unhappy with his life because his aunt's family treats him so badly. However, his dull life has been changed after he attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizarchy.
This book is attractive to me because the plot is ingenious. At the beginning of the story, the writer shows that Harry is an orphan that lacking care, love and respect, but he is clever and does nothing wrong. It lets people sympathize with his unfortunate experiences. For example, his family do not allow him to read his letters. When Harry is in Hogwarts, he can finally show his wit potentials and bravery. His life at Hogwarts is so exciting and adventurous.
Harry Potter likes your friend. When you read the story seriously, you will enjoy the plot. It makes you share Harry's happiness and anxiety. When you feel alone , the book can bring you into a beautiful story world.
I highly recommendthe serial Harry Potter's novel to you. If you have read it before, good, you will agree with what i saying. If you haven't read this novel, read it, you will love it so much and find a lot of in it.
