Summary: Best Sci-Fi Available
Review: My mother, a school librarian, received this book as a library donation, and started reading it to make sure the content was appropriate, saying I could read it once she was done. I took a peek at the first page...By the time Mom was done, I was halfway through the book and enjoying every page!

Summary: I have a confession...
Review: My name is Jennifer, I'm almost 25, I read technical papers for a living, but I still run to the mailbox when I get home so I can see if the second book came! The first few chapters I wondered if Rowling had simply edited a Dahl book. But after that the book was simply fabulous. The details were very original and showed an imagination that is almost non-exisitant in a generation of television watchers. Yes, I am proud of my weakness for Harry Potter books!

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Book One)
Review: My name is Jessica and I am a college student majoring in secondary english education. I picked up this book at the urging of my mother and I could not put it down. The story completely captivated me. I also know that it has captivated the many many children that I babysit for. Almost every family I work for has introduced this book into their home and it makes me so happy to see the children sitting down with this book in hand instead of watching television. I have now read all three and am looking forward to the release of the fourth this July with much anticipation.

Summary: Harry Potter the maginifcent
Review: My name is Laura Ahearn and I'm in the 8th grade. I think The Sorcerers Stone was a wonderful book. The author of the first Harry Potter book is J.K. Rowling. This fictional story is about a boy named Harry who realizes he is a wizard. He has many adventures, like when Harry and his new friends Hermonie and Ron meet up with a three-headed dog. (This is also my favorite part in the book.) I would recommend this book because it is a funny tale that everyone can relate to, with trouble, mystery, and magic.

Summary: Excellent book - so is the sequel
Review: My name is Rafe Markham and I am 8 years old. I think Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone (Sorcerers Stone in America) is just about the best book I have ever read. I would say it was the best but I have read another one (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) which is just as good. I think J.K. Rowling is an excellent author. She puts in lots of descriptions and I imagine I am there doing what Harry Potter does. They are truly thrilling books. I can't wait for the third one to come out.

Summary: Wonderful Series
Review: My niece and nephew went crazy over these books. Anxiously awaiting the next book. Great way to get young people to read. Great imagination that catches everyone who reads them and transports them to Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and sorcery.

Summary: Big Hype and Pictures Draw a Crowd
Review: My nine-year old wanted to get a copy of Harry Potter because it was all the rage. I bought the book for him, which was supposed to be written for his grade level. I found he had a terrible time with the names. We ended up buying the cassette, and reading the book a long with the audio tape. This made it much more pleasant to read, but it is not the most economical way to enjoy the story. Next time we may just go for the tape.

Summary: It all starts here!
Review: My parents sent me this book since fantasy is not my younger sister's style. I am thirty years old and I am about to get my degree in physics. I love this book!

J.K. Rowling has an ear for words. She writes delicious puns and fascinating descriptions of events. I particularly enjoy her sense of comic timing and the way she paces a story. In the first and third books of this series, she truly shines! It is no wonder that so many people have caught "Potter-Fever". I have yet to read the fourth book, but there is no doubt that I will get it.

Buy this book for someone who enjoys a little surreality to their day. Buy it for someone who likes a good laugh or a mystery. Buy it for people who remember what it's like to be eleven years old with all the fears, wonder, and awkwardness which came with it. Harry Potter's magic is not simply spells and incantations but the human characteristics which we all share. The occult is not the focus of this book. Yes, odd things happen but it is more about imagination, hard work, and education than witchcraft. Let those who are fear that their children are being warped read this book. Discuss the book with their children. There are no guns, no massacres, no drugs. But there is a lot of good to be found if a person looks.
