Rating: Summary: about time Review: It's about time we had a new children's fantasy series. I am a Sci Fi fan and remember when my children would get hooked on a series. It's great that kids now have something to read that deals with good and evil and ordinary problems that kids have. I loved it and bought it for my grandchildren.
Rating: Summary: IT MAKES ME WANT TO BE A WIZARD Review: It's about wizards and witches. They all go to a school called Hogworts. Do you know what happens next? His enemy is Malfoy. His best friend is Ron. I really love this book, because it has a lot of action in it. I recommend this book to wizards and witches around the world.
Rating: Summary: A Teacher's Dream Review: It's as plain as this...(bad reviews with the good)...anytime there is a book that gets kids reading, especially as entertaining as this one, its a good thing. This book has great characters that are unmistakably distinctive. You won't get lost along the way, because she weaves a great mysterious tale of adventure and magic. Fabulous twists and turns will keep you engaged and spellbound. IT IS WITHOUT QUESTION WORTH EVERY WORD THAT'S IN IT. By the way don't just stop at one, go ahead and get all three (so far).
Rating: Summary: I finally read it Review: It's been a long time since a fiction book kept me up all night reading, but I just could not put it down. Ms. Rowling is one of the most imaginitive children's writers I have read in years. I can see why this series is so popular. What I can't see, though, is why there is such a contorversy. I think if Ms. Rowling had claimed to be a Christian and sold it on Christian bookstore shelves the "Christian" community would have embraced it whole-heartedly as great entertainment. They have done the same with the Rings books. Harry is much more interesting, and less offensive, than the Tim LaHaye or Frank Peretti books or, quite frankly, any recent so-called "Christian" fiction. I would much prefer my children read this series than anything out there passing itself off as Christian these days. At least it is well written and does not deliberately distort doctrine. (Oh, and there's no "mushy-gushy" stuff. I can't stand all that romantic dribble in the "Christian" fiction. Worse than Sweet Valley High, ew!)
Rating: Summary: Magic and Wizards--Just like Us! Review: It's been a while since I've read a book of fantasy and after reading the first Harry Potter book, I realized how much I'd missed it. Magic wands, flying broomsticks, potions, dragons, messenger owls--and much more--are present to enchant the reader whether old or young. The young Harry, magician unaware, is a charming and somewhat pitiable young man who comes into his own in the world of wizards as well as the world of humans. His instinctive notions of what is right and wrong make him an immediate favorite with his fellow students at Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft, although he invokes the jealousy and derision of a certain evil element group. In the world of wizards and witches that Harry joins we find all the joys and sorrows, foibles and follies that exist in the human world. The only real difference is that their differences are settled with spells and magic as well as common sense and good moral character. Overall, this is a story of the battle between good and evil, with virtuous and kindly wizards poised against dastardly villians. And what a pleasure it is to get lost in a different world where magic and myth join to not only teach a lesson but to entertain us royally. I haven't had as much fun reading since The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. This is a book for children--and adults of all ages. Go quickly and get the first so that you can start the next ones!
Rating: Summary: This book is really awsome. Review: It's cool because Harry killed You-know-who when he was a kid.Later on he gets invited to Hogwarts for wizards and everyone knows him.And Harry and his friends find out about the sorcerers stone and they wanted it but something is guarding it.
Rating: Summary: An engaging story Review: It's easy to see why young readers would be caught up in this story. The characters are well developed and the story line moves along at a good pace. It's also easy to see why readers are empowered by Harry's tale - he is rescued from his mean and uncaring aunt, uncle and cousin in a triumph of good overcoming bad. Harry is wisked away to a wonderful life (though not without its problems) that leaves his dreadful relatives in the dust, and his supporters cheering.
Rating: Summary: It's a great and exciting book! Review: It's exciting, and surprising,a little funny but a very well written book. The characters were amusing and I liked their colour houses which were Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. I would recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Best bookI've read. Review: It's Great.People going in and out of pictures is a great laugh! It is a mixture of comey, mystery, and exitment.
