Summary: Our dreams, his reality.
Review: In terms of H. Potter, I'm in love. I began it last night, and spent my entire day today reading the first book. I have only a chapter or so left, and plan on replying to all my e-mail as quickly as possible so as to be able to return to H. Potter and find out about the Sorcerer's Stone. (Interesting note for the American edition ): The Sorcerer's Stone is not historically accurate. The alchemist stone/myth was known as the Philosopher's Stone, and did not necessarilly produce the elixir of life. That was another alchemist invention/dream. J.K.Rowling, being totally correct, must have thought that "Philosopher" does not convey both the sense of mystery and of witchcraft adequate for such an establishment as Hogwart. "Sorcerer" was a better choice, despite the slight artistic freedom she took with it.) My strong affection for the book stems from two primary sources: 1) I was looking for exactly such a book. I was ready for some reading which requires no analysis, yet liberates and stimulates my imaginative senses. This leas to source 2) I feel like a kid again when I read it. I have willfully suspended all belief in reality for an alternative reality, which is so fantastic in every sense, to the point at which shivers race through my body as I read. There is nothing more pleasurable than a book which makes you laugh, makes you angry and stimulates your imagination all at once.    The other part of the book I enjoy because, on one level, I fell as though I can relate. Strip the book of all it's potions and fantastical make-believe and what you have is the story of the underdog not only overcoming all, but by having the fantasies he dare not dream be fulfilled. What kid, as they are feeling the brunt of some bully, or of some stress, doesn't dream he could perform magic? What kid doesn't at some point look at something and try to make it move? What kid has not felt the emotional brunt of the world and wished to be liberated? Wished to be a kid? Harry embodies all of this. Through him, not only I, but everyone who has read it and liked it, has found a little piece of what the dreamed fulfilled within it's pages. To put it simply, Harry Potter is so wonderful becuase a little bit of him exists within us all. We all dream, we all imagine. For him, it's merely his reality.

Summary: It really surprised me...
Review: In the beginning, I loathed Harry Potter with every fiber of my being. At the mention of his name i would run away screaming.I couldn't understand how so many of my friends in high school loved this book. My friend eventually forced me to read the book knowing that I would like it. Needless to say, I loved it. the story is wonderfully told with as many twists and turns as any mystery book I have ever read. The characters trials and tribulations were real, even if the plot was not. I'm a lover of fantasy books and this, admittedly, was one of the most incredible fantasy stories I have ever read. I;m glad that my friend forced this book down my throat, and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. For all of those who don't want to read this book because it is for 'children', don't overlook this beautiful story. I felt that way too, but I am glad I read it and recommend this book to any fantasy lover, regardless of age.

Summary: Harry Potter vs. Hogwarts
Review: In the book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling, Harry was just a boy. He had no signifacance in his life at all. He lived with a Muggle family, the Dursleys. They hated him; to them he was nothing. Little did they know that Harry would be leaving them for a whole new world. As time went by Harry had started to recieve letters from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Soon after came Hagrid, the keeper of the keys. Hagrid took Harry even after all Mr. Dursleys complaints to where he would get his school supplies. When he returned, Hagrid gave Harry a ticket for platform nine and three-quarters. As strange as it sounded, Harry got there the next day with the help of the Dursley family. As soon as they reach Hogwarts the adventures began. First, they have to be sorted into houses they will be in, each first years sit under the cap and she screams out their house. Harry is as nervous as anyone, "GRYFFINDOR" the hat shouts. Harry goes through every thing from flying too high, to making it onto the Quidditch team, to seeing his family in The Mirror of Erised, and then from going into the forbidden forest to find out the mystery of the Unicorn's death. But he major adventure for Harry, Ron and Hermione will be to find the Sorcerer's Stone before Vold...OOPS! I mean you'll have to find out for yourself. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy books. It is always hard for me to find a book I can enjoy, but this one hit the spot. It has a great narrative hook that will grab you and pull you into Hogwarts as Harry, Ron and Hermione. Once you pick it up you can't put it down. Each chapter has it's own adventures. I can't wair to read the rest of Rowling's books. But remember, watch our for Vold.... OOPS! I almost gave the secret away again.

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling
Review: In the movie Forest Gump there is the quote, "Mama always said, 'Life is like a box of chocolates, ya never know whatch ya gunna get." This book is a wonderful example of that quote; each time you turn the page you don't know what's coming.
Harry thinks that he is a normal boy whose parents happened to die in a car crash. He is now living with his aunt, uncle, and cousin. When Harry finds out that he is really a wizard, his world is turned upside down. He begins to learn all the different tricks that he never knew before, like how to get into Diagon Alley and Platform 9 3/4. There are so many things that Harry doesn't know and finds quite surprising when he reaches Hogwarts School of WitchCraft and Wizardy. Harry also learns to play Quidditch, a game like hockey played in the air, and becomes the youngest player for the house teams in years.
This mystery draws you in farther and farther as you read. It is an exciting adventure you'll never forget and cherish for a lifetime. The sequels, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire are as good as the first. If you enjoyed these, just remember that there are more to come.

Summary: Harry Potters wonderful world of Magic
Review: In the novel, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerors Stone", Harry Potter is portrayed as a young magician, who has wonderful powers. He has to stay with his evil aunt and uncle and spoiled cousin, "Dudley." Harry has to sleep in the basement with all the rats and rodents running around 24-7. One day, Harry gets an unexpected letter from Hagird, the friendly giant. It stated," We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at the Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry. Of course Mr. Dursely wasn't too pleased. He wasn't going to pay for Harry to go to a school where a "crackpot" taught him magic tricks. This was the start of many letters to come. Day by day, night by night, they constantly came. So they decided to leave. First, they went to a hotel about a mile away. They kept coming. They then went to a small hut on an island. They constantly came. In the middle of the nigh, they heard a loud banging in the middle of the night. Who else could it be, but Hagrid. He has come to take Harry school shopping. As Harry goes to the school of Hogwarts, he meets some great friends. Some were friendly, and some were mean. Like Voldemort. He and Harry batter it all throughout his time at Hogwarts. Voldemort, is very jealous of Harry and tries his hardest to get him in trouble. You must buy this wonderful book to read the ending. I recommend this book to the child who is very interested in wonderful fantasies, about monsters and hidden dragons. It will amaze you.
