Summary: Great!
Review: I would like to tell all you people out there that this is the best series of books I have ever read, and believe me,I have read a lot of books! It is imaginative and interesting. It just makes you wish you were there and was one of them. The series is about a boy, after living 10 years with his aunt and uncle,he finds out that he has wizarding blood and is invited to go to Hogwarts, a wizarding school. It tells of his adventures and life at Hogwarts. I HIGHLY recommend this book to people of all ages. It is easy to read but is enjoyable for all ages.

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcers Stone
Review: I would recomend this book to someone else if they like magical fairy tales and like interesting stories. This book was very descriptive of Harry's surroundings and the people around him. I especially liked the part where it described the long game of Quidditch and the way Harry's friend saves him from falling off his broom. I sure hope you'll get a chance to read this amasing book!

Summary: This book was good.
Review: I would recommend this book to all ages. A three year old could understand it, yet an adult could pleasure read it. I enjoyed it so much. I can't wait for the sequel to come out in the US. The book was about a boy who has know idea he's one of the most powerful wizards. He must go to a wizard and witch school, Hogwarts, and must learn spells.

Summary: Wonderful! This book is wonderful!
Review: I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read. It is for everyone! I got the book and read it in two days. Then, I got the second one and read it in one day. Why do we have to wait so long for book #3? JK Rowling takes her place among such literary greats as Roald Dahl and Louis Sachar. My Mother loved this book and my sister, who's into generational sagas loved it too!!! I think this should be mandatory summer reading for grades 4-college! Get it today!!!!!

Summary: refreshing
Review: I would say I'm a muggle and the the story is very mugglish, in the sense that is pretty ordinary escapism. Exactly what one needs after an abysmal day at work. The prose is crystal clear and the story is devoid of complicated plot intricacies. The rare twists are rather twist-friendly and I understand the need for linearity (kids and all). I loved the book. I recommend Jonathan Carroll if you can find it and you'll know what I mean.

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
Review: I would tell anyone who is capable of reading a 300+ page book,to go out and get this. I picked it up, and could NOT put it down. Iread the whole thing in one night, and then could not wait for the next one. Once you have read them you will want to know everything that happens to the lovable Harry, and his friends Ron and Hermione. The author is gifted with words, and has you seeing the Hogwarts School of Wizardry in your minds eye. Run, do not walk to get this book! If you have a child who cannot read it themselves, then read it to them. This book will inspire hours of imaginative play for children everywhere.

Summary: Incredible!
Review: I’m 18 years old and was very sceptical about Harry Potter, believing it would only appeal to children. But I picked it up, read a page, and one page lead to another, and before I knew it I’d finished the first chapter, then the second, and soon enough I’d read the whole book in three hours. I haven’t had a book pull me in like this since Catch-22, which I read five years ago.

Perhaps the most appealing element of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is the character descriptions. JK Rowling positions the reader to respond in certain ways to the characters in the book. Harry Potter is constructed such that he is completely likeable to the reader. He’s a levelheaded, intelligent and grounded boy without ego or pretension. Other characters classifiable as ‘good’ are constructed in the same manner. Harry’s friend Ron is lots of fun with a self-deprecating sense of humour; Dumbledore, the chief wizard, has a bumbling appeal; and Hagrid the Giant is totally warm and lovable. Conversely, Rowling writes the ‘bad’ characters such that she positions the reader to dislike them totally. Characters like Dudley Dursley, the horribly spoilt stepbrother of Harry, or Snape, the terrible Potions Master, inspire hatred from the reader. (...) This is why I loved Harry Potter so much. In the book, I know exactly who I love and who I hate.

The plot rollicks along at a cracking pace. (...)

Ultimately, I loved this book so much I couldn’t put it down. The shops are closed right now (8:30pm Sunday night) but in the morning I’ll be straight down to the bookstore to pick up the second episode in the Harry Potter series. I can’t see how anyone couldn’t like this book! It’s brilliant!

Summary: I succumbed...
Review: I'd been avoiding the Harry Potter series, both because of the unending hype and tripe about the books, but also because, for heaven's sake, it's for children. Why would this appeal to me?

I was even skeptical when my sister pressed her copies of the first and second books on me to borrow. My thought at the time was, "Well, as long as they're here in my hands, I might as well see if they're any good."

Any good? Hello? They're FANTASTIC. I was hooked immediately. The spells and charms are things that every kid (and most adults) wouid love to be able to do (A spell that binds someone's feet together, so they have to hop around? An Anti-Cheating Charm on a pen, so the writer has to be honest? How cool).

I devoured the first book in less than a day. It was funny, intense and realistic (to a degree - they do talk about a lot of magic). Now I have to wait for my sister to get done with her volume 3, or I have to go buy it myself.

I can see why there was so much hype. I know there has also been some negative publicity about these books (from the extreme right-wing types) but really, any books that can get kids this excited about reading are A-OK in my opinion.

Go Gryffindor!

Summary: A great book, not just for kids!
Review: I'd been hearing a lot about the Harry Potter book, but put it in the same box as power rangers and pokemon, and I really didn't pay much attention to it. Then when a 17 year old friend of mine told me how great they were, I just had to give it a try.

I was amazed! It was excellent! I loved this book! Now, I am a high school student and thought (gee, I can't believe I liked this little kid book so much) but once I started asking around, I discovered that many, MANY people I know also read, and love Harry Potter books and as this is the first, most people had read it and agree, it was great!

Just a note I'd like to add. Most of the negative comments I've read about the Harry Potter books are written by adults. Guess what? These books were not written with the intent to please you in mind! So think what you like, but I've seen kids that don't even like to read, pick up one of these books and and really enjoy reading for once, and who are so excited about getting the next book. So leave them alone. And be happy that more children have finally discovered the joy of reading.

Do yourslef a favor, read this book, no matter how old you are, you won't be disappointed.
