Rating: Summary: Dreadfully Dissapointing Review: I was very dissapointed in Harry Potter. With all the rage about it. It was an okay book, don't get me wrong, but it just wasn't as thrilling as I'd expected. I found the story to move along far too slowly. It took forever just to get to the point!
Rating: Summary: A magical journey for all ages! Review: I was very sceptical as I listened to all the hype about this series. Not being one for 'fads,' I paid little attention to this one. However, I took my little sister to see the movie, and I was very impressed, and was inspired to give the book a try. I did, and to my amazement I couldn't put it down! I started reading the first book Tuesday night... it's Monday, and I finished the third book this afternoon! I absolutally love them. I recomend everyone, whether interested in fantasty (which I am not) books, or not, pick up a copy and give it a try, I guarantee anyone with an imagination will appreciate this series! Bravo Rowling!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Review: I was very skeptical about all this Harry Potter stuff at the start. Actually I really thought it was the biggest load of crap i'd ever heard. But I went along with my parents to see the movie, just so i could tell my friends how bad it was. It turned out to be really good, one of the most entertaining things i've ever seen. So I borrowed the Sorcerer's Stone off my friends little brother (which made me feel sorta foolish). But in the end, I finished the book in 2 days, and it was so entertaining I didn't even want to stop to sleep. Now I'm going to buy the rest of the books. Such is the magic of Harry Potter. And by the way I really hate that Dudley character, he is the most arrogant idiot ever. The author makes him so real that you wish you were there so you could slug him one.
Rating: Summary: Best book series EVER! Review: I was very skeptical about Harry POtter when the books first became popular. I practically swore I would never read them! But a month or two ago I decided to get a copy and give it a try. Thank God I did! I read it in 3 days. YOu CANNOT put this book down! Rowling's character's are gripping and very real. Harry Potter is for everyone, not just kids. Any of the books are great but it would be best to start with this one. I would recommend these books to ANYONE. I scorn anyone who says the books are stupid, or kids shouldn't be reading them. These will be classics!
Rating: Summary: It lives up to the hype! Review: I was very unsure about what I might think before reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone because of the great reviews and popularity this book has received. I wondered if I would feel the same. I can say that it lives up to the hype! Many books spark the imagination, but this Harry Potter book completely created another world. I kept wanting to read to find out what was going to happen and what other things J.K. Rowling was able to create through her words. It is an amazing escape from everyday life, and a wonderful book in which to immerse yourself. I highly recommend it to readers of all ages.
Rating: Summary: Rediscovering good books.... Review: I was warned not to read this book that it was bad. I decided to find out on my own. They were wrong! I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves a great yarn with magic and children being a big part of it. My daughter loves it too! There is nothing bad about it! Buy it! You will not be sorry!
Rating: Summary: I have been sucked up into the world of Harrry Potter Review: I was watching The Rosie O'Donnel show when I heard about this book. It sounded good so I bought it. So far it has been hard to put it down. I'm on page 60 and am so excited to read the others. You feel as if you are right there with Harry expieriencing his adventures. This magical world has just the perfect amount of spunk, imagination and mystery to it. I praise the Author for writing such magical books.
Rating: Summary: J. K. Rowling Review: I was watching this talk show one day and J. K. Rowling was there. This was apparently one of her first interviews. Might have been her first flight to the states. She was on the Rosie Odonnell (sp) show. Rosie loved the book and was ranting on (in a good way) about how this book is a classic in the making. On how she was on the edge of her chair with every word. Rosie even read this book to her children. After I heard J. K. Rowling talk. After she explained how poor she was and how she just had a dream of writing something. How she sent this book to publishers, each one an original because she couldn't afford to get them copied. This lady has real vision and I admire this. After hearing her speak, I decided that I had to read this book. I LOVE THIS BOOK! It's a good read for all ages who know how to day dream when they read. I'm not going to get into the story of the book because I am a firm believer that you should read something without knowing anything. It's more exciting that way. Just trust me and read the book. Oh, email me when you finished the book and tell me how you like it. :-) chris@gigglecam.com
Rating: Summary: For adults, too Review: I was wondering what all the fuss was about so I bought this book. Usually when I think of children's fantasy I think of C.S. Lewis and Madeleine L'Engle (who are wonderful), but they're not funny. Rowling, on the other hand, is hilarious. I laughed on nearly every page. The one boy pulling a fat old sleeping rat out of his pocket ("His name is Scabbers. He's worlthless.") ...that's one in a long line of funny scenes. Now I think I'll have to read the whole series.
