Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Note to the Christian Reader Review: I started reading this book to my daughter book before it became controversial in Christian circles and I was drawn into the story. I have now read every book in the series. This book is well worth the acclaim it has received. I know that many Christians have heard terrible things about this book, but they are untrue. I found this book to he a touching story about a little boy to whom I greatly relate. I understand that there is magic and wizardry in the book, but I personally found it no more objectionable than what I found in Tolkein or C.S. Lewis. Although the book does not have the Christian symbolism of "Lord of The Rings" or "Chronicles of Narnia," it still is a great story of a boy who is shunned for being different and overcomes adversity. A good lesson for anyone. If you are a Christian parent, read this book and judge for yourself after having read it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: better and better. Review: I started reading this book when I came home from school one day. I read to page 74 by the time the night was over. I really liked it and if you were to ask me what I would rate it after the first two days it would have got 4 stars. But as the book went on it became better and better. I espeicaly liked the last two chapters. 5 stars from me.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: First Time Reader, Long Time Admirer Review: I started reading this insightful novel while staying at a friend's house. I couldn't get to sleep, and while it gave me something to do, it certainly didn't help my sleeping problem: I couldn't put it down! Harry Potter and his friends are mature beyond their years, but they are still able to enjoy an exciting and magical childhood. Harry and his friends are never generic or boring: you'll find no static characters here! Appropriate for all ages, this novel captivates the young audience and the experienced audience alike. I can't wait to read on in the series!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent Review: I started reading this to my six year-old son about a month ago. It was slow going, mainly because of his attention span. But he's been enjoying it, nevertheless. As I was reading it to him, I became enthralled with the adventure and wound up reading the book by myself. It was a great, fast-paced read that brought out the child in me.Like everybody else, I've been hearing the controversy. Yes, there are some situations in the story that might scare small children. Pick up a book of fairy talesor, better yet, turn on the TV. The cartoons and kids' shows are much more violent and graphic than anything in this book. The Harry Potter series is destined to be a classic for many generations.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Literary Phenomenon Review: I started this book and thought it was boring but I started reading more and I got hooked! I love the enchanting imagination of J.K. Rowling. This book is breathtaking in its literary achievements. It is in so many languages that I've never even heard of some of them. Also, it has been read by almost every kid of America. It's not only a children's book though. Almost all of my friends who are Harry Potter fans have had their parents and older brothers and sisters read it too. There are very few books that can reach out to that big of an audience. I would definitely recommend this book for ages 10 and up.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This book captures you and pulls you into Harry's world. Review: I started this book and was instintly absorbed. It captured my imagination and I was suddenly sneaking around in Hogwarts, avoiding Miss Norris, or playing the flute for Fluffy. This book will intrest anyone from the second grade to someone well into retirement. J.K. Rowling did an exquisite job of animating everyone. This is my all-time favorite book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: fantastic, unputdownable story--100 stars! Review: I started this book at the library where I work and I couldn't put it down. It made me giddy with delight through the thrill of discovery. With bits of Roald Dahl, Norton Juster and L. Frank Baum and a large dose of her own wit and wisdom, J.K. Rowling has created the kind of book both kids and adults can read and love together. It's a children's book for grown-ups! No, it's a grown-ups' book for children! It's both, it's neither, it's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great book, much to my surprise Review: I started this book cause i was bored. Simple as that. I'm 14,and my little brother read the series, so i decided to give it a whirl(I was really bored). 10 pages in I was hooked. The book is a real page-turner, and in one day i finished the first and am now, at 10 PM, 65 pages into the second book. Take my advice and, regardless of your age, read the books
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Surprising, adventurous, and amazingly creative! Review: I started this book thinking,"The sooner I get this done, the sooner I'll get started on a new book report!" I ws completely wrong. This book was worth every penny they spent making it. It's one of the best fantasy books out there. Everything came together wonderfully.I know it probably wasn't scary to most people, but I found myself getting a little bit spooked in some parts. The best parts about this book were all of the details, such as,the character's names, all of the magical aspects, the names of all of the candy, the suspense created towards the end,and the way the story comes together. Let's face it. If most people tried to come up with all of the creatures, names, foods, magic classes, games, and mysteries and put them together into one story, and of course make the story make sense, they would be ready to jump out a window! Although this book, and the rest of the series isn't supposed to be a mystery type novel, the plot does seem to come together that way. This is a book for all ages. One thing to keep in mind. The books start to get thicker, and thicker.Don't they? The latest(Goblet of Fire) is all the way up to about 735? pages long. If you have a kid who doesn't mind sticking with a long book,I recommend you give this one a shot.Because, trust me if you start this series(this book)you're going to want to continue it to the finish!
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Surprisingly unoriginal and rather boring I'm shocked to say Review: I started to read Harry Potter with great enthusiasm having heard (as we all have) great things about it. It was a surprise to me that this first book is actually rather badly written, quite boring and surprisingly derivative. It wouldn't take a fantasy fan long to come up with a list of the sources of most of the ideas in the book. How anyone can call it original is beyond me. Maybe I've just read too much of the much superior source stuff (like Roald Dahl and Terry Pratchett). However I can understand its appeal as its blends Enid Blyton and Adrian Mole into the cauldron of fantasy ficton and therein lies its only shred of originality. However I've been told the books get better so I'm reserving final judgement until I complete them all...
