Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and thhe Socerors Stone Review: I really loved this book. It was so descriptive
Rating: Summary: Too Much Hype Review: I really really liked the book. With that said, I think this book is the best book in the serious as originality of the first book is lost in the subsequent ones. Well, I haven't read the fourth one yet.
Rating: Summary: harry potter is cool Review: I really think that writing a book takes imagination and talent, and J.K. rowling showed all of that and more in "the sorcerers stone", a book about the courage +determination of 11 year old Harry Potter and his friends who attend Hogwarts, a school of magic. When evil wizards decide to steal the sorcerers stone ,its up to Harry Potter to get it back!
Rating: Summary: IT'S THE BEST Review: I really think this book is the best you could ever read. I'm from Mexico and i'm 14 years old, every teenager, and even adults, are reading this book and the other ones of Harry Potter. You will enjoy this book, i'm sure. I'm just waiting for the 5 book!!! IT'S THE BEST, READ IT!!!
Rating: Summary: Not as good as the other 3 Review: I really truly enjoyed this book. But i also found some problems with it. it was slow moving, unexciting and not enough focused on the magic as the others. the book is only bad if compared to the other 3, otherwise it is amazing. i have one more bone to pick, i have always liked the inside designs of the books, but until the fourth one the covers made harry look nothing like i imagined him, it made him look to cartoony. keep up with designs like the fourth one.
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: I really underestimated this book when I first got it at Christmas , but now I love it! It is so well written and it has a kind of comedy mystery mixed up in it . The Ending is very unexpecting it makes you think it is the worst teacher that harry has and you are sure it is him but well i am not gonna give it away . Read this before the second and read the second before the third or it will give it away .
Rating: Summary: Wish it were real (Well, some of it) Review: I really wish I could go to Hogwarts, because I know that I would have a great time! This book compares with no other book that I have read recently, maybe with the the exception of the Jean Shepherd books, but this book is still great. All the time I thought it was really (can't say), but it was really (can't say)! A story with many twists, turns, and adventures, it will surely keep me hooked until the final installment!
Rating: Summary: This is a great book for kids and adults alike!! Review: I received a copy of this book as a (college) graduation gift. I loved the book so much that I have since bought the next two in the series, and am anxiously awaiting the fourth!! Buy this book, not just for your kids, but for yourself too! Young or old, there is something in Harry Potter's adventures for everyone!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter is sensational Review: I received Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for my 19th birthday and I was a little skeptical at first because Harry Potter is written mainly for children. I started reading and as I got further and further into the plot it became harder to put it down. I recommend this book to anyone of any age. If I could give more stars, I would.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable, quick read, but nothing magical Review: I received this book as a gift this past holiday season and put off reading it since it was a "kid's book" (I'm 18 and should know better than categorizing things like that). So I finally decided to read it about a week ago. It was a quick read; I finished it in just over a day with numerous breaks. The characters are likeable, the plot lively, and the author's creativity clear. However, this highly acclaimed book is lacking in several aspects. The style of writing is rather simple. While this can be used purposefully to a good effect (particularly in children's books) I got the sense that Rowling is not capable of more complex style (not that that is necessarily true; just my impression). The characters fall into rather common cookie-cutter school age stereotypes. The plot is rather predictable, and the twist at the end is no big surprise (in spite of its lack of foundation in the rest of the novel). So should kids read this instead of nothing at all? Of course! They'd get a good read out of it. But for superb quality children's *literature*, they should check out the work of Roald Dahl (among others). Good, solid, enjoyable book, but not much more.
