Rating: Summary: Full of Adventure and Imagination but too scarry for kids! Review: I haven't enjoyed a series of books so much in years. These books are fabulous and I can't rave enough about them. But my eight year old daughter would have been better off to have not read them until she was at least a couple of years older. Each book is scarrier than the first and really too much for children whose favorites include stories like Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory or The American Girls series. It's only my opinion, but these books should really be marketed to teenagers and older. My eight year old who is suddenly afraid of the dark and bathrooms, would most definetely agree with me.
Rating: Summary: A Book For All Ages Review: I haven't even finished this book and I think it is fantastic. I ordered the other 2 Harry Potter books yesterday. These books are definitely ageless. At 36, I'm really enjoying reading this book at the same time that my 10 year old is also reading it, and we discuss the book at dinner.
Rating: Summary: A REALLY GREAT BOOK!!!!!!!! Review: I haven't even gotten to the middle of the book and its already one of my favorites!!!! Mrs. Rowling is a really great author.
Rating: Summary: Marvelous! Extraordinary! Fresh! Review: I haven't finished reading it yet but it is so good, and here we go. I give the book five stars. It is a fantastic book. Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone is different from any other book. It is exciting and wonderful. It has a lot of different characters and some weird and funny names. When I saw the book my teacher said it was selling fast and very popular. I wanted it because she said it was popular and everybody wanted it. When I got the book and started to read it, I started to get into the book. The beginning couple of lines were great! So after that I couldn't stop reading it. It was like I was inside the book. I didn't even hear anything around me! This is one of my favorite books. I hope there are more books out in libraries like Harry Potter And The Sorcerers Stone. I am very glad I'm reading this book because it's just extraordinary. The part I liked best in the story was when Hagrid busted in on Harry's muggle family and was about to hang him on his umbrella because Uncle Vernon didn't tell Harry the truth about his family. I liked that because that's what Mr. Dursley deserved because he didn't treat Harry like he was supposed to be treated.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant Review: I havent been lost in a book like this since I was a child. Every detail is painted with living breathing imagination. You can hear the voices of the characters speak and see their faces full of expresion and character. I picked up the book to look at the cover - 150 pgs later my reality resumed - I had to go to work - As I worked I wished for the reality of Harry Potter. I have not looked forward for a moment of silence to escape into a book for some time - tonight I do. Some life hunh? but at least its not as bad as Harrys was with his Aunt and Uncle. Maybe an owl will bring me a note? I doubt it - but there always is hope.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter- the best book! Review: I havent ever read much, couple of books. When I got this book for christmas I thinked "Oh, this book is for kids, I wont read this!" But when I read couple pages, I couldnt stop... Harry Potter is the first book I value, so all, YOU haveto READ Harry Potter! Its the best book.
Rating: Summary: Holy Cow Review: I heard about how J.K.Rowling had to type up each and every copy of this book with her typewriter when sending it to possibly interested publishers because she couldn't afford photocopies. Definitley no walk in the park, but what a fairytale story as possibly the most succesfull children's book ever. I LOVED this book, and that is no understatement, and I literally couldn't put it down. If it weren't for my obligations, I would have happily read it in one sitting. If you haven't bought it yet, I don't know what planet you're living on - buy it, and all those to come - take your phone off the hook, cancel all your appointments, and be ready for the most excellent adventure. Soon you too will be scratching the days off your calendar for the next release. And if, by some miracle, J.K.Rowling happens to be reading this (or anyone who has specific contacts to her), I ask you "Why stop at seven?" Keep going after his graduation PLEASE. Looking forward to the next Harry.
Rating: Summary: 28 Year Old Reader, and I couldn't put them down Review: I heard about the "Harry Potter Craze," and I figured just another kid's book. I fealt that there was no way that it could measure up to some of the classics that I grew up with. From the Chronicles of Narnia to the BFG to the Hardy Boys, I was then and still am now a very avid reader. I read on a wide variety of subjects, but I never returned to the young adult genres that I grew up with.My fiance bought this book for our 3 year old to read when he gets older, and I sat down and read it in one evening. I couldn't put it down. The language used by Ms Rowling just flowed and drew me in to where I was watching the story play out in my mind and really was hoping that Harry would succeed in all that he does. The story is pretty original, by how it is brought to life by Ms Rowling is extraordinary. The concrete world evoked by her worlds reminds me a lot of the world created by Piers Anthony in his Xanth series of novels. The Sorceror's Stone is an excellent book, I've already bought book 2, and plan on going back and buying every one of the books in hardcover. I highly recommend this book to all people, both the young and the young at heart. Also, when you start to read this book allow yourself a few hours where you don't have to do anything as you will not want to put this book down
Rating: Summary: A must read for any adventure lover. Review: I heard about the Harry Potter series on the morning news. I love to read and thought I would give it a try. I am glad that I did. I could not put the book down and I am 25 years old. The characters and the plot pull even the most seasoned reader in to a read full of fun. There a renewed wonderment at life as one reads. This is a happy book with wonderous suspense. It is a great change from the average book offered to the adult reading market. I highly recommend and am going to keep on reading this series. Kudos to the author.
