Rating: Summary: A Good Starting Place for Mr. Potter Review: I have come to love Harry Potter and the magical community of Hogwarts. I think that J.K. Rowling has written one of the most entertaining series of books that I have seen in a long time. "The Socerer's Stone" is a good place to start the series, but you do not have to start out here. Rowling has a good repetition of the important events in the previous books so you could start anywhere in the series. "The Socerer's Stone" was a solid start for the series. However, I have found that the books only get better as they progress. This is a rare event with sequels. After reading all of the books, I only wish I weren't a muggle (a non-magical person). If you start reading these books, your imagination and interest will take over and you won't want to stop until you see Harry through all of his adventures. I would highly recommend these books for anyone who cares to see the world as a young wizard does.
Rating: Summary: I was blown away by this book! Review: I have easily read more than a thousand books in my 30 years-- classics and Pulitzer Prize winners, mostly-- and I do not remember being so taken by a character as I am by Harry Potter. J.K. Rowling has created a masterpiece that would recommend without hesitation to anyone of any age.
Rating: Summary: Enchanting story! Review: I have fallen in love with Harry Potter! He's a charming sort of hero -- the lost, brainy sort of fellow, surrounded by people who can't appreciate his abilities, but who manages to find his own kind and use his talents to save the day. This book is very funny, written with a definite British sort of humor. I am pleased to know that so many children are growing up with this book. It's not "dumbed down" like many popular children's books (particularly for this age group) are today. My 9 year old son had gotten bored with Goosebumps and the like, and he was really ready to move on. From the first page in this book he was saying, "Mom, this is really funny!" The first chapter was a bit slow, I thought, but the story really picked up after that. I finished this book myself and went right out to buy #2 in the series. I can recommend this one for any child -- or adult -- who who likes imaginative, funny stories, and doesn't mind a bit of the absurd.
Rating: Summary: J.K. Rowling is brilliant! Review: I have fallen in love with JK Rowling's imagination and style. Her books are a wonderful way to escape to another world. Harry Potter is the adventurer in all of us! I can't wait for #4!
Rating: Summary: Adults Will Love Harry Potter Review: I have fell in love with the Harry Potter series. Rarely do I come across books that stretch my imagination like the Potter series has done. As an adult, you sometimes get so caught up in the "real world" that you forget how to just let go and allow your mind to carry you away to regions you've long fogotten. The Harry Potter books have done that for me. The Sorcerer's Stone is an excellent book. The story is great and you really feel like you are there with Harry and his friends. I think this book is great and will hook you for the next books in the series.
Rating: Summary: Everyone should read Harry Potters Adventures Review: I have first read about H.P in the internet. And I read, that it had been banished from schools in Amerika. Although I am from Austria I decided to read the book in english (just in case the translators didn't do a good job). All the bad things that are said about this book are absolutely wrong and out of the context. The book is as well suitable for kids and adults (I am 23) - the adventures are fantastic and bounding. I read the book within a few days. And everyone should read the book of the little wizard and his friends. Especially for kids the book is great, because it lets phantasy flow into a world of being glued to a TV all day or playing PC-games. Read it, you'll love it!
Rating: Summary: I found this book to be a well written tale for all ages! Review: I have found Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone to be, without a doubt, one of the best books I've ever read. It is extremely well written and I found that it pulled me in as soon as I began reading. I think that the author gives a clear, yet exiting and adventurous storyline, that takes many unexpected twists and turns that keeps the reader pinned to their seat. I would recomend this book to people of all ages!
Rating: Summary: Best book since Wizard of Oz Review: I have had enough birthdays to have fond memories of the Wizard of Oz. This book captures that imagination and innocence of one of the great books of all time. Took me a while to read it as I thought it was for the young folks. Can hardly wait for the rest. Potter and friends are a treasure to be applauded forever. Congratulations J.K. Rowling
Rating: Summary: What a Magical Ride! Review: I have had this book on the shelf to read for a while and finally picked it up and read it. Let me say from the minute I picked it up I didn't want to put it down. It was truely a book for all ages, and thoroughly well written. I can't wait to read the rest of the series, I am hooked now and there is no stopping me. I can't wait to have children to read these stories to.
Rating: Summary: An AWESOME read for any age Review: I have heard the book was out-of-this world. I didn't quiet believe it. I just finished the book in the wee hours of the morning. It is an amazing book! I can not wait to get to the store to buy #2. Oh, by the way I am 32. If I had this book when I was younger I would have read a lot more than I did (and I read tons!!)
