Rating: Summary: All of the Harry Potter Books Review: I got the books for Christmas. I finished them in three days. I couldn't put them down. I teach third grade so I had heard about these books from my students. I think I may have loved them even more than my students, if that is possible. If you haven't read them, I suggest you get them and see what all the fuss is about.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Rules! Review: I got the first Harry Potter book for Christmas this year, and read it all in a day. I was skeptical of the books before, because they didn't look to interesting, but after reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, I regret the fact that I didn't get into the books earlier. J.K. Rowling does a fantastic job providing strong imagery trhough her choice of words, and this gives the reader no choice but to keep turning the pages. The imagination that Rowling used to create the ideas in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone are awesome!! Every one should pick up a Harry Potter book as soon as possible, no matter how old you are, or what religion you may be! I am a Christian and I found many Christian principles displayed in the novel. Look beyond the magic and see Harry as a self-sacrificing individual with outstanding courage to fight evil.
Rating: Summary: Fun to read with my Mom Review: I got the three-volume set for Christmas, and I already read the first one, and the best part was when he went through all the traps with his friends Hermoine and Ron, and I can't WAIT til we're reading the third book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone over the age of 6, I guess. There is a Scholastic web site on Harry Potter stuff, which includes a neat crossword puzzle, based on all three books, if anyone is interested in exploring the site.
Rating: Summary: Jeez! Review: I got this book as a gift when I had back surgery in July 1999. A family friend gave it to me, and I wasn't sure if I would really like it- I was like, "Well, this looks like a little kid's book... it sounded boring." So I didn't read it right away. Then on the first day of school, all my friends were talking about the "amazing Harry Potter series". So I said, what the heck, and I got out that book I got as a gift and read it. I couldn't put it down, it was so good! It is so adventurous and it tells about a totally normal boy who has an interesting experience with magic. I then went to the bookstore to buy the second book and the third book, and I've probably never read a book faster than I did then... and I read books pretty quickly. If you haven't read these books and are trying to decide if you should, DEFINITELY read them... They were New York Times #1 bestsellers! I can't wait for #4 to come out this July!!!

This book deserves the Five Star rating it has. I certainly hope that Rowling writes the last six as good as the first one.

Rating: Summary: Words cannot describe how good this book is Review: I grew up on fantasy and science fiction, particularly the works of Tolkein, C.S. Lewis, and Jules Verne. So, when I picked up the copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, I was transported back to the enjoyment I felt then. Never have I been so captivated by a novel, save perhaps for the Wheel of Time series. Harry Potter, a ten-year old child in England, has begun to receive letters in massive amounts that seem to follow him wherever he goes. Once he is finally able to open one, he discovers that he is a wizard and has been admitted to one of the most prestigious of all wizarding schools: Hogwarts. After purchasing his equipment (such as the requisite wand), Harry gets on the train, where he meets a new friend...and a new enemy. Little does he know that Voldemort, the dark wizard who killed his parents so long ago and whose powers were destroyed by Harry Potter, controls one of the teachers at Hogwarts and seeks to gain his revenge... Very incredible, and well worth your time.
