Rating: Summary: Quite good Review: I expected more from this book! This was great, but not so great. J.K. Rowling has a lot to learn about writing. This book was great, but I've read better books in my life. But this is still worth for buying.
Rating: Summary: Yeat another review full of glowing praise! Review: I feel a bit silly adding my voice to over 2000 others, but here goes...I am 35 years old and I adored this series. I read all 3 in 24 hours and I now plan to return the books to my sister and rush out to buy my own. Did Rowling read Enid Blyton as a kid? I sure did and I see shades of Mallory Towers in Hogswarts. But even the great EB, wonderful as she wasn't didn't come close the the brilliance of Rowling. I was captured from the first chapter, by the brilliant charaters, the wonderful settings but most of all by the incredible imaginative twists and turns on every page. Buy this book!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter is Simply Delightful Review: I feel sorry for those who couldn't enjoy the Harry Potter books becuase they were concerned about "fat people" and "rule breaking." Mabye they forgot that Harry, Neville, and Herimonie were punished for their night time wandering,(their rule breaking) and were looked down apon by their peers for it. I have read both books multiple times and still can't put it down. I commend J.K.Rawling and can't wait for more books. The characters that she invented are marvalous. The Weasley twins are hilarious, Professor Dumbledor is absolutley noble, Hagrid is loud and laughable and Professor McGonagall is serious yet kind. I also would like to congratulate the illistrator for her wonderous portayals of characters and events.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Review: I feel that any parent would love to read this to there children. I bought the book for my nephew and before I could give it to him I had to see what all the talk was about. Now I have my very own copies. I can't wait to have kids myself. As for the book, there was nothing I wish more for kids to see how Harry Potter can control himself. Him being different and showing respect to his elders and control over magic and friendships. I would recommend it for anyone, no recommeded age should be placed on this book.
Rating: Summary: This is a very good book! Review: I feel that this book is very good because it helps kids with their imigination and I feel that is very important to a childs life. As a teenager I think that it isn't bad. If people don't like this book that don't read it! If you don't want your kids reading these books then tell them to read a different book.
Rating: Summary: What a great book! Review: I fell in love with this book almost from the beginning. I felt as though I was taken back to a time when my imagination was set on auto-pilot and my magical powers, although not fully revealed to me, were much greater then the abilities of my closest friends. J.K. Rowling wrote the greatest bedtime story that I have ever heard and created a world that is almost as well defined as Star Wars. In each page I lived the moments with Harry, Ron, and Hermione (whose exact name pronunciation I did not learn until Book 4 - Its Her-mee-oh-nee, for those who haven't gotten that far yet). Although the adventure has the ability to get old quickly, Ms. Rowling has injected enough reality to keep the story interesting. The characters remain close to life so that young and old can still identify with their triumphs and pitfalls. If Rowling keeps putting them out, I will keep buying them. 5 stars just isn't enough ******!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful, witty, and magical storybook!!!! Review: I felt that this book was a wonderful story.I was in a magical trance as I read this storybook. I am 25 years old, and it took me back to when I was 8. I love all of the magic, trolls, witches, and wizards that are a part of this book. I hope J.W. Rowling will continue writing her stories for a long time to come.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Best Book Ever! Review: I finally decided to read the 1st Harry Potter book because of all of the hype of the 5th book being released. I had heard this book was great, but I wasn't too excited about reading it because i'm not into science fiction involving wizards and magic and such. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a fun, light-hearted read, and I think that is because the Harry Potter books are typically children's books. Of course there were dark moments in this book, but I loved every word of it! The characters were so realistic and believable. This is one of the best books I've ever read, and I can't wait to read the others! I would recommend this book to ANYBODY! :) I couldn't put this book down! It kept my attention the whole way through, and the ending was amazing!
Rating: Summary: Delightful book for both children and adult Review: I finally read this book after hearing about all the hype and promptly finished it within 5 hours. For most adults, it would be a fast but enjoyable read. For children (I intend to give a copy to my niece who hasn't read it), I believe it will be entertaining and enthralling. Kudos to Ms. Rowling for her creativity and imagination that took me into a different world full of surprises and delight. As for those who "condemn" th book because of its violence or supposedly anti-Christian messages, my only answer is "Get a life". If it wasn't for this book, your children probably will be playing Doom and killing Zombies on Playstation. As for all the magic and sorcery, it might be a good first step to teach your kids about "fantasy" and "reality". This is no different from watching Toy Story and telling your kids that it's fiction. I gave the book a 4 stars because I am rating it from the point of an adult. I enjoyed the book but that's it. Great literature, it isn't. But then again, there aren't that many books out there nowadays that can make me read from start to finish in 5 hours....
Rating: Summary: Not just for kids Review: I finally read this book after so many people told me that it was great. I never saw the movie, because I thought that the whole HP thing was for kids, but it's so much more than that! This book was funny and smart and the writing is excellent. I loved it, and I'm going to buy the rest of the series! Too bad I waited so long.
