Summary: Amazingly creative
Review: I bought this book thinking that I needed to see what the book-buying craze was all about...and now I am part of that craze. As a children's novel, I couldn't figure out what the big deal was, but having read the first book and currently reading the second, I can honestly say that this is some of the most creative and fun reading I have ever done. Harry's story and the characters around him are wonderful for all ages. These books will be classics some day, I am sure.

Summary: The best book ever
Review: I bought this book to pass the time on a long flight and I have never been so happy I bought the second one too!!! I don't care if this is a childrens book, I LOVE it!!!! It captured me from the first page and I was so hooked I went out and bought the last two in hardcover the next week! I am waiting impatiently for the next one and I promise I will be one of those people in line in the middle of the night to get one if I have too.

Summary: Magical, indeed!
Review: I bought this first book in the Harry Potter series mostly to see what all the fuss was about over on Beliefnet. I was pleasantly surprised - this book transported me back to my own childhood long since past, and I was completely absorbed in this little fantasy for the day or two that it occupied my time and attention. The characters were well developed, and I couldn't help feeling one way or another about each of them. I gave the book to my daughter-in-law once I was finished with it, and she also devoured it in a couple of days - after which she loaned it to my other daughter-in-law. Since then, we've all read the 2nd and 3rd books, and are eagerly awaiting the paperback edition of the 4th book in the series. I highly recommend it, regardless of your age.

Summary: The best book ever
Review: I can not believe how fabulous the Harry Potter series is. I am certainly not the same age as the average reader and yet I find myself so addicted to these books. I can hardly wait for the next one!

Summary: Kudos to the promoter, not the author
Review: I can quickly name five to ten other far superior children's fantasy series. Credit should go to the publisher and publicist for selling this book. The language is flat. The characters very predictable. Where's the tension, emotion? I was relieved to see the abridged version of this and the two sequels for sale on CD. Clearly this shows that people really don't enjoy reading these books and are too afraid to speak up. If they listen to the CD's they will know enough about the characters, plot, etc to converse with others so they don't seem so of the loop. Has Ms. Rowling ever developed a paragraph longer than 6 sentences? Perfect for today's short attention span.

Summary: A Book for young children
Review: i can see how this book would appeal to young children Its the type that first got me interested in reading fantasy. The reviews here blow the book entirely out of proportion. I can understand how 4th graders would enjoy this book, but people older than that? The characters are naive in addition to being underdeveloped. Every single thing in the plot of this book has been taken from something else. Do you want real fantasy? Try J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman or Piers Anthony. Any one of their books is twenty times better than this one.

Summary: This book was da bomb!
Review: I can't believe how good this book was! It was great how Rowling can capture my imagination.

Summary: This book was awesome!!!!!!!!
Review: I can't believe how good this book was. I will read it over and over. My old favorite book was "The Last of the Really Great Wangdoodles." After I read this I knew nothing would top it. Anyone who likes this sort of stuff about witchcraft and wizardry definatly needs to read this book

Summary: I am 10 again! Hip, hip hurray for J.K. Rowling!
Review: I can't believe I am just now reading Harry Potter. I haven't had this kind of exhilirating reading experience since I was a child and read of Narnia, E. Eager's books or any of the other great children's books that stay with you for the rest of your life. I knew from the first page that this book would live up to its reputation and it did, a rare thing these days. Thank you Ms. Rowling for Harry Potter and his adventures. I can't wait to get the next one and the next... I am 38 year old woman who jumped back to childhood with this fun adventure! I can't wait to share this with my two year old son.
