Summary: Books the Whole Family Will Enjoy and Share
Review: I am a 47 year old professional and a very avid reader. What makes the Harry Potter books so remarkable and enjoyable is that they capture the imagination of all ages. I have read all three books and two of my daughters are currently fighting over who gets to read "The Prisoner" next. We have two copies of each book so everyone can have a chance at reading them. And we thoroughly enjoy discussing our favorite scenes, characters, names and places. It is a rare experience when you can be reading a book that you know will be a classic for decades to come. Everyone who enjoys reading will LOVE these books

Summary: Wow...Was I Surprised!!
Review: I am a 51 year old man, and I would never have believed that I would love what are classified as Children's Books. To say I was delightfully surprised would be an understatement. I had actually purchased the audio tapes, which by the way, the narrator was also the "evil villian" in Pete's Dragon, and his abilities gave the story a depth that you miss by simply reading the book. Well, my family and I were on a long vacation trip by car, and as soon as we could, we purchased the remaining books on tape and listened to them (Book 4 after we returned home). We were "convoying" with another couple, and as soon as we would stop somewhere, we would give them the tapes we finished and they would listen to them. Later we purchased the books and read them, and being able to recall the voices the narrator used on tape was enjoyable. If you saw the movie, it was great if you read the book (though not even close to the depth of the book). Bottom line is, get this book and see what I mean. Obviously, you could read the books in any order (the author attempts to fill you in about things that happened in the other books as needed), and I believe Book 4 to be the best of the group (and also the longest), but I recommend reading them as they were intended. I truly can't see you going wrong purchasing this book.

Summary: Not just for children
Review: I am a 57 year old software professional I bought the unabridged book on tape read by Jim Dale to entertain me during my long commute to and from work. I quickly became charmed, amused, and totally involved in this delightful story and found myself sitting in the garage not wanting to go in the house until the chapter was finished. You will laugh out loud at some of the droll throw away comments by characters in this book.

Summary: Harry Potter the WORST Book I have ever read
Review: I am a 5th grade student at Waldron Mercy Academy.
I dialike Harry Pottere and the Socerer's Stone because there is no ACTION until the very end of the story.
The setting is mostly in the UK and a school where Harry goes. You will read about the "school" in the story.
The characters are: Harry, Harry's Aunt, Uncle, Harry's cousin Dudley, Ron, Herminoie, Hagrid, Malfoy, Dubeldor, Proffeser Magonagal, and Proffeser Shape.

Summary:

Harry Potter lived under the stepes of his Aunt, Uncle and cousin
Dudley's house. One the day of Dudley's birthday something happened to Harry that he never new he could do. Soon enough Harry received a letter form a magical place. His Uncle does not what him to go so his Uncle took the letter a way from him. Then all of the sudden MILLIONS and MILLIONS of letters came swarming in like a hive of angry bees.
Harry catches one and read it as soon as he could. I guess you will have to read the book to find out what really happens to Harry.

This book did not keep me interested all the way through. To tell you the truth at one point in the beginning I even fell asleep. I really did not care for this book.

Summary: What a super, original story.
Review: I am a 63-year old grandma. I sent the book to my 9 and 10 year old grandsons in Tacoma about a month ago. Today, I called, and they are upset because they have read the book three times already and want me to hurry up and buy the next book - which I did, of course. When they got the book, they said they didn't think they would like it, but instead can't put it down. It has made the rounds through their school. I bought it just to see what all the fuss was about, and was delighted at the way the story developed. Can't wait myself to read the next one.

Summary: incredibly creative and fun!
Review: I am a 6th grade teacher of many years, and am reading the 1st one to my class. Never have I had them so excited for me to read... a terrible sin if I do not read! One reluctant reader 6th grade boy, came up to me and said, "I had to stay up reading under my covers with a flashlight (remember doing that?) last night to Finish Harry Potter!!! He was so excited! He bought the second book at our book sale, with his own money, hardback and all, and could not wait to start it! I would say 75% of my class went out and bought it after I started reading, and they still want to hear me read it again! Never in all my 23 years of teaching have I seen this love for a book and character. There is a little of each of us in this book I think! SO how can people out there be fighting to take it off the shelves of schools???

Summary: One of the best books I've ever read!
Review: I am a 6th grader and I liked this book because there was always something interesting going on and it made me want to keep reading. I would recomend this book for any level of reading and give it five stars. I thought that the author used good topics to write this story. She also developed the characters in such a way that you could feel empathy with the characters. It was amazing how the author could get you so absorbed in her writing.

Summary: A great read for children or adults
Review: I am a 72 year old retired nursing professor. I bought the book for my grandchildren. Before I sent it to them I decided to read it. I sat up late two nights savoring it. The fantasy content is not as important as the feelings. The book describes the emotions of children entering a new school, making friends, dealing with school bullies and unfair teachers--in short, dealing with life. The fantasy will keep the kids reading, but the lessons they will learn have far more importance in their every day lives.

Summary: The next three books are much better
Review: I am a big Harry Potter fan but I almost gave up on the whole series while reading this book. I found it to be very boring and slow moving. I have talked to many other people who are into the series as well and they agree that this book is not that great. It was these same people that a year after reading this book got me to pick up the second one and realize how good this series really gets. This book is good for explanation and history but not great entertainment. I do agree that this is a great series just not this particular book.
