His Aunt and uncle didn't like him so when they would take Dudly somewhere they would leave Harry with a sitter so Harry wouldn't ruin Dudlys day. Then one day they had to take Harry with them for Dudlys birthday because the sitter got relly sick. Dudly had a fitt because Harry had to go. So they went to the zoo. Then in the reptiel section the glass in front of the snake vanished and a bowconstrictor came crawling out. Dudly and Mrs.Dursly scremed and Harry just stood there. Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone a review by Pat Review: Have you ever woken up as a baby, on someone's doorstep? This is what happened to Harry Potter. When he was just a baby, an evil wizard killed his parents. Harry defeated the wizard, but he got a scar in the shape of a lightning bolt. He became famous for this event, but strange things were happening to him. Harry is a troubled boy. I like how whenever he gets mad, something bad happens. It is weird. He was running away from Dudley's friends when he came to a dead end and ended up on the roof. Then he found he was a wizard. He was told to go to the train station, to platform #9 ¾. His uncle just dropped him off and he left! That was cruel. Harry asked the lady where the platform was. She said her sons would show him how to go through. Then a boy started running right at the wall! He went right through! I thought that was cool. Harry made it through okay. I thought this scene was cool because no ordinary human could do that. Harry is tall, he wears glasses, and he has black hair. He also has a star on his forehead in the shape of a lightning bolt. He is very good at magic. He also is very smart. Harry meets a professor named Snape. He is as sly as a fox. His is very mean to Harry. Harry is a good boy. He always has his homework done. I think he is a nice person, but sometimes he is mean. I think that Harry has a lot to deal with, like his homework, and everyone mauling him all over the school. He also gets yelled at by Snape. If you want to find out more about Harry, read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
Rating: Summary: I'm 13 years old..... Review: Haven't read it? You should. It's fantastic. J.K. Rowling has taken fantasy and magic-making to a funner level. She weaves wit and humor into intrigue and mystery. My dad ordered from a mail order and I read it twice after he only read it once. I couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: Made me feel young again! Review: Having a middle age crisis? Read Harry Potter! What a delight to escape into such a fun, colorful tale of witches and wizards, spells and secret potions. You'll forget all about house payments and 9-5 and become a kid again! My 11 year old daughter got me turned on to these marvelous books and I couldn't put them down. Anxiously awaiting the third volume!
Rating: Summary: Great for kids and adults alike Review: Having grown up on C.S. Lewis, Lloyd Alexander, and such novelists, I find myself repeatedly thanking my good luck that another such talented writer has appeared on the horizon. Rowling has a way of transcending the barrier between children's fiction and adult fiction. I'm 39 years of age, and an engineer, and I read The Wall Street Journal, but I also highly recommend the Harry Potter series. When I was growing up, my mother read all the Narnia chronicles onto tape for us so that we could listen to them over again. Rowling's Potter series lend themselves perfectly to the same sort of activity; they read beautifully out loud, and they will have the whole family in stitches! Even if you don't read them in order, which is how I've done it, you won't be disappointed. Rowling's imagination and wit have no bounds.
Rating: Summary: HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE Review: Having heard people rave about Harry Potter, I bought 2 copies to give as gifts. One I sent to my 10 year old grandson who was thrilled at getting all three for his birthday. Before sending off the second, I decided to read it. To my surprise, I had trouble putting it down! Harry Potter is a wonderful little boy who, in spite of his relatives is a bright warm boy who has a spirit of adventure and a good heart. I believe the author, a delightful young woman has been able to reach all ages with her books. I finished the first book and had to read the second. The characters jump off the pages and her descriptions of the school and the activities are pure joy to read. A book that is entertaining to all members of the family will only encourage family reading hour. Thank you Ms. Rowling for giving us Harry Potter!
Rating: Summary: What's good for the kids... Review: Having not only read this book, but the other three, I have to say this is one series I'm keeping aside to read to my future kids. It's as wonderful a read for adults as it is for kids and I imagine that it would be a wonderful set of books to read aloud as bedtime stories (one or two chapters a nite). I was sucked in by the very first paragraph and couldn't set it down until I'd read all four books! With the morals lessons and the everyday childhood dramas mixed in with heavy dose of pixie dust, this was an excellent series to share with the kids in my family.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter books are the best Review: Having read this book at least 3 times so far this time, I wanted to take the time to really read this book and get ready to read the next ones again. Harry Potter thinks that his life with the Dursley's is what he will have to live with for the rest of his life. However, when strange things start to happen Harry finds out that his life will never be the same again, for he is a wizard. Harry is taken away to learn more about his background, it is at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that Harry starts to learn the true stories of his life and how he is a wizard. When Harry arrives at Hogwarts, he learns of many new and different things and meets new people, some good some bad. This is where he meets his best friends Ron and Hermione. While at Hogwarts Harry learns how he is a famous person. Harry's time at Hogwarts is mostly spent learning his lessons in Potions, Defense against the Dark, Hierology and of course Quiddich. Nerveless Harry and his friends manage to help Hagrid hatch a dragon's egg, look for a hidden treasure and get in more trouble then they know what to do with. After reading this series many times I always want to reread them again, this is a great series and cannot wait to read more and more about Harry Potter and his life.
