Rating: Summary: ...Check this out! Review: Harry Potter, as a media phenomenon is pretty impressive by now: millions of books sold; total sales represent a hugely lopsided portion of Scholastic's annual income; J.K. Rowling rocketing from virtually homeless to the 3rd most wealthy woman in England - it's a bit much to accept.I picked up the book because I liked the illustration on the cover, but as I read a few pages, I found my imagination moving faster and faster - there is so much to imagine and experience in these books, that it's difficult to not spill out the entire plot in one sentence....This is a great read for both kids and adults for a number of reasons: the plot is very inventive, intricate, and well-crafted; The characters are fully developed and ring very true, in the tradition of Roald Dahl or Beverly Cleary; and the settings and imagery consistently set your imagination ablaze with activity. When a kid begs you something that's part of the latest craze, as an adult one tends to simply dismiss the object out of hand, thinking that the desire for that thing will be quickly replaced by something just as vapid - don't fall into this trap with Harry Potter. Getting a kid interested in reading is a reward enough, but I would encourage parents to read the books also (in order, please) to be able to talk about this wonderful world with their kids. It'll be an experience that you'll never regret.
Rating: Summary: Come to Hogwarts with Harry Potter! Review: Harry Potter, having his parents killed by an evil wizard, comes to live at 4 Privet Drive unprepared for a horrible life with his mother's sister and her family. Treated like mud, harry is forced to sleep in the cupboared under the stairs. Then, on Harry's 11th birthday, he recieves a letter, but it is quickly taken away by Uncle Vernon, who heard Harry's spoiled cousin call, "Dad! Harry's got something!" Each day, more letters showed up for Harry, but Harry never got to touch one. Then finally, a kind giant comes to Harry's Aunt and Uncle to straighten things out. It turns out, that Harry is a wizard, and is asked to go to a witch and wizardy school called Hogwarts. The candy is extraordinary, the picture's move, and he makes a great friend. The fun could never stop! Especially with Quidditch. Harry never thought his life could be so fun.

An exelent book with plenty of imagination. It is full of exictement and a very good plot. I think J.K. Rowling should be and will be remembered along with many other great authors. Rating: Summary: Magical Review: Harry potter, not your typical, average kid you might have thought him to be. Harry lives with his aunt and uncle, who mistreat him very harshly, after his parents were killed. Harry's bedroom is under the stairs. He is almost like a house servant to his aunt, uncle, and pig-like cousin, but all that changes when letters arrive for Harry to take him to a mystical new place. Harry was made to think he was nothing but it turns out he is a big somebody. The new school he goes to, Hogswarts, is the part of the book where the magic starts. He finds out how his parents died, who did it, and finds the sorcerer's stone! This book is one I highly recommend. It's for people of all ages. Harry Potter takes you through an original, suspenseful, and entertaining journey. I haven't seen the movie yet but when I do I'll certainly compare it to the excellent book of wonders.
Rating: Summary: Paranormal Candyland Review: Harry Potter, orphaned when he was a mere babe and surrounded by strange occurrences, is unaware that he's a special child, the offspring of two wizards. He lives with his Muggle (non-magical) uncle, aunt and their spoiled son, who abuse him because of his aunt's extreme jealousy of her sister. Then he gets an invitation to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry; but even though he's amongst his own kind Harry's life is still far from easy. He must face an old enemy who tried to take his life once and succeeded in ending his parents' lives. The fame of his surviving that first encounter creates an atmosphere of both admiration and prejudice. Harry struggles to find himself in all this. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a paranormal Candyland taking the reader on an often-hilarious often-frightening romp through myth and legend. J.K. Rowling weaves and exquisite story, making the bizarre and unusual seem ordinary and mundane in the lives of these school children without sacrificing suspense. Sorcerer's Stone is a must read that should fit onto anyone's reading list even those of us well past our childhood.

Rating: Summary: More. . .MORE!¡!¡!¡! Review: Harry Potter. . . .I had heard of him in book reports, went to the library to check him out, and found that there was a waiting list of 32 kids to borrow it. I decided to buy it. At my school's book fair, they had the books for sale. Unfortunatly, they only had the first one in paperback, and I didn't have enough money to buy the 2nd and 3rd in Hardcover. I read the first Harry Potter book in 2 days, finally going to the bathroom, which is the only room in my house that has a lock, to read the final chapters in peace without being bombarded with chores, as it was Saturday. I absolutly loved it. I wanted more. I waited for FIVE months until Christmas, when my Mom had promised to get them for me. I was SO enthralled in them that I read BOTH the second and the third books in 2 days. No kidding. That's fast, even for me. Most books that size take me about 2 or 3, maybe 4 days to read them each. I liked Harry that much. I am very much a critic when it comes to books, and I can't find a single flaw in any of the Harry Potter books. The only thing that's missing is romance, and J.K Rowling has promised that Harry will like somone in the fourth book. The first book I rate 5 out of 5 stars, the second 6 out of 5 and the third 7 out of 5 stars. They're good books. VERY good. All I have to say is I'm very upset that Ms. Roling isn't going to write about Harry after he gets out of Hogwarts. We only have 3 books to go after Harry Potter 4!¡!¡!¡!¡! I don't think I will survive after that, unless I can write them myself!¡!¡!
Rating: Summary: It may not be the Wheel of Time, but it's GREAT! Review: Harry Potter. Normal enough, no? If it was the title, one might think that it's a boring book, about boring things. Can you say "NO?!"? This, the first Harry Potter book, is great. Unlike other books of it's type, such as Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, it is worded simply, without the huge descriptions. It has a wonderful storyline, that doesn't need the many character in other fictional worlds. It, simply put, is one of the best fantasy novels I've been reading for quite a bit! I'm very pleased to say that Harry Potter has a place on my bookshelf.
Rating: Summary: Avid Fantasy Reader Review: Harry Potter. We've all heard it, all been trapped in the craze. Or have we? I must say that I was terribly dissapointed in this book. I may just sound like another person that LOVES to oppose EVERYTHING. But I truly don't think this novel deserves the hype that surrounds it. Don't get me wrong - it is a wonderful childrens' book and introduction to fantasy. Certainly NOT the best, but decent. Why the two stars then? I found that this book lacks the general complexity and 'real' feeling that I love a good fantasy to portray. I'm no forty-year old mother that reads "Lord of the Rings" in her spare time. I'm twelve, and this book really, really, stinks. Give me a break - I fail to find the complexity and exitement in something as bland and over-used as the concept of 'magic school'. Take any random fantasy off the shelf, and there's a 6/10 chance you'll pull out a book about an orphan, mistreated boy/girl that's transported to a time and place where magic abounds, and their new 'talent' is amazingly powerful! Step two - the characters. Horribly two dimensional! Harry and Ron don't really seem to have much character or personality. There's a few Rowling twists and turns to add to the-almost-nothing originality of the story, but other than that...I can't see what's so amazing about this book! The vocabulary is stale (sure, it's made for kids, but they understand a bit more than you think!). The imagery is null. Harry Potter = A ZERO in my book. GOOD BOOKS = Ender's Game, Chronicals of Narnia, Hero and the Crown, Last Book in the Univers (original, if not perfectly written), The High King...ect, ect...
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: Harry Potter...hmm...what can I say; it brings out the imagination of a child. The book was wonderful. I enjoyed it very much with all the action going on at one time. It seemed to me as if there was so much action going on, but yet still you could understand it. The writing style is wonderful, easy to understand and fun to read. Just think when you read Harry Potter you are entering into a dream world of magic and fun. Harry Potter goes through so much excitement at his stay at Hogwarts. He is always trying to see what is going on at this Wizardy school. The book is about how Harry finds out that is beloved parents were wizards before they died, and he has that same power as they do. He goes to Hogwarts a school for wizards and is forced to learn all the magic and powers. His problem that he has to face is that the man that killed his parents, Voldemont, has come back to regain his power and finished where he left off and kill Harry. Only Harry can stop this evil sorcerer, but I am not going to tell you what happened next. Each character brings out a trait of some kind and allows you to relate to him/her. While reading this book have fun, kick back, and relax. Harry Potter will bring out the imagination in a child and an adult and you will enjoy every moment of it.
