Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Rocks! Review: A friend of mine encouraged us to read the story of Harry Potter. Ever since picking up the first book, I have not been able to put it down. In fact, she has not only read the books, she has listened to the books on tape around 4 times. These books truly are entertaining and I am very excited and not sure how I will wait until book 5 comes out. Thanks so much, JK. You are the best!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter:a book well worth reading Review: A friend of mine has been trying for months to get me to read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, but I refused to read it, insisting it wasn't the type of book I would would enjoy. Afterall, witches and wizards were just some of those things that can't happen and I never really liked books about the "impossible." However we made a deal where she would take me to our favorite restaurant if I'd read Harry Potter. So, I unhappily began reading the first chapter, half expecting to find that the book was a good book after all. But, it seemed a rather slow start that was boring. Same thing with the second chapter. Somehow I managed to get to the fourth chapter and I was surprised to find that somewhere along the line I'd gotten interested in the story. I read on, growing more and more interested as I read. The characters that seemed so dull and boring at first were now blooming into real characters! I found myself changing some opinions I started with. Hermione had seemed like such a know-it-all type of person at the beginning and by the end I was starting to like her. Her vast knowledge really helped Harry and Ron. Hagrid turmed out to be a friend to Harry and his friends. The story had a marvelous ending that only a brillant author like Joanna Rowling could have created to be fitting to this exceptional story. Some people have written reviews saying that Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone doesn't live up to all the hype surrounding it. That's simply not true. Harry Potter may very well someday be a classic, like Charlette's Web and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Besides knowing that this book really was great, I know one more thing. I got the better end of the deal with my friend: Now I will get to go to the restaurant AND have had the opportunity to read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. :o)
Rating: Summary: Great book for all ages Review: A friend recommended this book to me. I am glad he did. Once I began reading, I couldn't stop. I have always been a fan of movies and books that contained magic. This book is easy to read but very intresting. The characters are great too. As a college student, I could find each one of my professors in the teachers at Hogwarts. I could also see a majority of my friends in the students at Hogwarts.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: A friend sent me this book for my recent 23rd birthday - almost every adult I know has read the series, so I decided to give it a try - I loved it! It brought back so many memories of my childhood and made me want to re-read all those lovely stories that shaped my childhood. It was so nice to free my imagination again - something we often forget to do as adults. What a marvelous vacation from humdrum reality! I can't wait to read the other books in the series!
Rating: Summary: Fun and Imaginative Review: A fun book for adults as well as children. Clever and enjoyable, with enough mystery to keep it going. The mixture of humor and magic remind me of John Bellairs' books. I would advise readers of one to check out the other.
Rating: Summary: A FUNNY AND MAGICAL BOOK Review: A funny and magical book, Harry Potter is so good I can't stop reading this great book. It is filled with lot's of good detail. Harry Potter is a boy who was stuck in a closet for ten years, but one day he found out he was a wizard. P.S. Tons of great characters are in this book.

Rating: Summary: I'm an Adult and I absolutely adored this story Review: A gift to my son for Christmas, the cover of the book attracted my son's attention immediately. He is 7 and tried to read on his own, but found some of the names too hard to figure out. He asked me to read aloud to him, so, of course, I began the book over, and read to him from the beginning. Now, He will not go to bed at night without me reading this book to him. I am so pleased that he is enjoying the book, but what surprised me even more than his excitment over this book was the fact that I couldn't put it down! I finished the book and have begun to read it again, and I am still reading nightly to my son, continuing from where he can last remember before falling asleep. This is a book that simply awakes the imagination. I can't wait to read Year 2!
Rating: Summary: Hooray, for Harry Potter! Review: A good fun read! I haven't had this much fun since "STAR WARS." (If the movie can catch even a fourth of the magic it should be a big hit!) This book has a lot of wisdom and entertainment for both kids and adults and bridges a gap for the generations, like a good Disney movie only better! I like a a lot of the insights and philosophies that the book gives through the use of a great story and characters, one of the biggest being (for me) that 1.)things are not always as they appear to be and 2.) pure evil and take on many forms. I can't read the rest in the series it sounds like they are also fun and well thought out. Harry Potter is ther hero for the kid in all of us!
