Summary: About the whole Left Behind Series
Review: I can only say to those who criticize the "LB" series as not being scripturally accurate, that it is a fictionalized account according to their interpretation of the Bible and specifically the book of Revelations. However, if after reading the series (any of it) anyone thinks about what might happen and starts to read the Bible and look to God for answers, then fiction or not, it was worth the read. I have thoroughly enjoyed the books and they have caused me to study my Bible from time to time to see if I concur with what they write. Every one of the books is worth the time it takes to read it.

Summary: I thought this was supposed to be a novel
Review: There is a fair amount of sermonizing in the previous books, but it was excessive in this last one. I relize that these books serve a dual purpose (witnessing & entertainment?), but there was so much talking that this book dragged and was very anticlimactic. I am very disappointed with this series's conclusion.

Summary: Looks like people are already choosing sides...
Review: Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins have done an excellent job writing this series in an accurate respectable way. It is written for broad audience and is average reading level, so no...it is not classic literature but an enjoyable read, like a good old time TV serial. The plots are good, the Biblical teaching excellent, and they paint as good a picture I've read on what the Tribulation might be like. The authors did a super job not over-speculating for what Jesus might say when He returns. We're not supposed to put words in God's mouth as He tells clearly has told us. His Word is eternal, so why wouldn't Jesus quote himself? It made sense to me. I would have liked them to stretch a little more and tell us more about those who returned with Jesus, but I guess once again, they chose not to go far with that.I think some reviewers here have missed many points in these books out of blindness, pure ignorance, and some for pure hatred. From some of the reviews I've read here tonight, it's scary...but pretty easy to tell who among this group would take the mark and who wouldn't.

Summary: A Glorious Ending to a Beautiful Series
Review: After twelve wonderful and moving books, the "Left Behind" series has come to an end and authors Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins have most definitely saved the best for last with this wonderful final installment. In this book, the whereabouts of Buck and Rayford are unknown, and the remnants of believers are facing Antichrist Nicolae Carpathia's huge Global Community army near Jerusalem. Their mission: to destroy the remaining believers on earth and set up Carpathia's reign. However, God has another plan for Nicolae and his army. God sends his son Jesus to destroy Carpathia and his army while setting up his thousand year reign on earth. The most special part of this book for me was when Jesus appeared in the clouds on his white horse along with all of the angels and prophets. The "voice" of Jesus seemed to leap off the pages. Jenkins' "voice" of Jesus and the resulting death of the G.C. soldiers at merely hearing His voice was extremely captivating to me as a reader. The vivid descriptions of Carpathia's and Satan's destruction was awe-inspiring as well. I've read other reviews of this series by people who claim that the writing and storyline has slowed down with each new book in the series, but that cannot be said about "Glorious Appearing". In my opinion, this book is the best of the series. The writing is excellent, and the "voice" of Jesus makes the book that much better. LaHaye and Jenkins did their best work with this book. Having read each book in this series, I'm sorry that its now over, but I've learned much more about the Rapture, Tribulation, and Resurrection from reading this series. The image I will remember most from this book occurs in the last three pages when Rayford, his family, and the rest of the Tribulation Force is reunited. I can almost feel their joy and excitement. I highly recommend this fine book. You'll surely be drawn in just as I was.

Summary: Buying into the Culture of Fear
Review: Please do not read these books & further brainwash yourselves. These books are all based on the fear of death and whether or not you will achieve eternal bliss. How about instead of praying for the end of the world, you sit back and enjoy life as it is. The fact that these types of books are shaping our country's foreign policy is disgusting. No wonder we are killing ourselves off.

Summary: A Major dissapointment and very badly written
Review: I've read all of the Left Behind books in order and since the beginning. Thus, I've been waiting each year for a new book to come out. I have noticed each one getting more and more boring as Jenkins and LaHaye merely provide "filler" in order to span the series further out. Some could say it is probably just to make more money. However, the writers claim they are trying to convert many to Christianity though these books, which is a good cause, EXCEPT for the fact that a lot of the teachings and interpretations in these books, especially in this one, are very hateful and often very subjective and extreme. Add to the fact that in GA, the characters are all so one-dimensional. The main characters are no longer like their old selves. You could basically swap there names, like someone else here said, and never notice. It's like the writers simply forgot who their characters were. When Jesus finally comes he has no personality whatsoever. Instead they quote Bible versus that we've already read, and He merely continues to explain who He is. Add to the fact they never describe the man, they just say "Oh look, Jesus appeared." If you want a better Glorious Appearing, try the Christ Clone Trilogy, which is a amuch better series, and you get everything in just 3 great books. I seriously reccommend this trilogy. But back to the review, I really was dissapointed with the book. This was supposed to be such a great fulfilling end to the series, but we only get a couple pages of all of the characters we met and enjoyed (which they all killed off) from the past books, and they don't even really talk. it's more like "Oh look, there's that one guy, and there's that one girl. Oh look, it's David Hassid and Ken Ritz! It is Albie!" However, that's it. Not even a "hello." It was an absolute disaster and they could have done a lot better. Go buy the three books in the Christ Clone Trilogy. They are cheap and you can get them all together here on Amazon with free shipping.

Summary: Kill Mankind, Vol. 12...
Review: Unfortunately for LaHaye and Jenkins, they don't have the literary sensibilities of a Quentin Tarantino. This book and the gore and violence in it illustrate the mindset of this type of fundamentalist Christian (LaHaye) yet again. In the guise of "righteousness" naked retribution and vicarious thrills and gory violence are allowed. It is no less exploitative than Kill Bill Vol. I, only Tarantino's above board and honest, and simply doing a homage to other filmakers. LaHaye and Jenkins, though, are only in it to milk their readers.

Summary: Best for Last
Review: I have waited a long time. I have read a lot of pages. I have thumbed through every book with an eagerness that of a child at Christmas. Book 12, in my opinion, has been well worth the wait. So much happens in the last few chapters, that the soul gets overwhelmed. Nice job men! You made this journey well worth the trip...now I wished they could have done this back in the 70s with the movies: "A Theif In The Night," and "A Distant Thunder," ...oh well!

Summary: I can't even bring myself to finish the book.....
Review: I couldn't wait for this to come out...bought it the first day. I'm now on page 240 (I struggled even getting this far) and can't bring myself to finish it. From my perception of Jesus in the Bible, He talked little but said a lot. This book "quotes" Jesus with no reference to scripture (i.e. the "quotes" are what they thinks he will say - which I have a problem with anyway) - and, so far Jesus has talked a lot but hasn't 'said' anything. What a disappointment....

Summary: This isn't a Jesus I particularly want back
Review: I read the other books on "know your enemy" grounds (and they were enjoyably bad), but this is one of the worst GD things I've read, and I mean that literally. At some point in Ch. 2, the authors crossed the line where whoever did the Biblical translation they used can sue for plagiarism. I thought libertarian SF was bad w/ the "As you know...." speeches cluttering the dialog. Ugh. This is L&J getting revenge against everyone who ever doubted them, like a kid on a playground warning that his big brother will beat you up if he doesn't get his way. Example: with the unbelievers dead, the US finally and really becomes "a Christian nation." Want a head rush? Alternate reading Juan Cole's reports about Iraq and L&J's account of the small band of believers fighting off the World Unity Army at Armageddon. Wrap the result in an atmosphere of "OHMIGOD THIS IS OUR LAST CHANCE TO SHOVE OUR BELIEFS DOWN THE THROATS OF OUR READERS!!!" desperation. And the alternating descriptions of gutted nonbelievers and God's love and mercy are priceless, for you fans cognative dissonance.
