Rating: Summary: Great for adults as well! Review: I have gotten no less than five people totally hooked on these books - and they've all been over 21. I teach young people, but none of them needed convincing! I have done much reading in my life, but never have I come across a modern day story with such great heros! If kids today try to emulate Harry - we're all safe! Harry and his friends set a great example of courage, loyalness and the desire for good to triumph over evil. Not to mention that J.K. Rowling has developed the most facinating setting for a story we've seen in... well, actually, I've never read a fictional book this interesting! I'm counting the days 'til the fifth one!
Rating: Summary: Excellant Reading! Review: I have just finished reading Prisoner of Azkaban for the 2nd time. I thought it would be a good idea to reread the first 3 Harry Potter books in anticipation of the 4th (to refresh my memory). I cannot tell you how much I LOVE these books. My husband thinks I'm crazy because I go on and on about them constantly. This one was my favorite (although I love them all). I loved the humor and suspense. The turn of events with Sirius Black was outstanding. I have been reading the reviews of the 4th book and cannot wait to receive my copy. Until then I will keep reading the reviews because I cannot get enough. I highly recommend this book for adults. I am 31 and cannot put them down (to the dismay of my husband and young son). I can't wait until my 1 year old is old enough to experience this wonderful story. In my opinion, J K Rowling is a genius.
Rating: Summary: These books are a must for any teacher!! Review: I have just finished reading the first book to my students. They loved it so much that half the class now has the first book and the second so that they can read along with me. As a teacher I have seen my student's creativity grow and their wanting to write their own versions of the stories. Thanks for giving these characters such a human like quality that makes my students love to READ~!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Rules! Review: I have just finished the book Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban a few days ago. This was the best book out of all the other Harry Potter books. Those were good too. The word describing everything makes me feel as if I was there. This book was very good, exciting, magical, and a little bit scary or creepy. The book was perfect and a little bit sad, too. I really liked thid book. Harry Potter was the main character in this book. He had character traits you wouldn't believe. His character traits are nice, brave, kind, popular, and powerful. The most amazing part was that Harry Potter has magical powers and he's a wizard. Harry Potter also has some powerful enemy's. I still don't know why they try to kill him. I think that because he did nothing to them. Harry Potter also has some very nice friends and teachers. This one of the best book I have ever read. One thing is that one thing leads to another. Everything that happens relates to another. For example Ron's rat, Scabbers, was in the first book, but also in the third book he becomes very important. This book is truly amazing. Also a very surprising thing will happen at the end of the book. You would never guess what it is. In this book, near the end, somebody will tell a story about what really happen. After you read that you would understand everything. Sometimes when I read it I can picture that part in my head because it was described so well. You should read the first and second book before reading this one or you'll don't understand. When I was reading it I couldn'lt put it down. It was so good I finished it in three days! I would recommand this book to everybody, mostly to people who like fantasy and believe in magic. Just to tell you, "it's a wonderful book!".
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Review: I have just finished this book and so far it is my favorite in the series! I have never read anything anywhere near as imaginative as this series and I cannot wait to read the others. If you are considering not reading these because they are for children, then you are depriving yourself of these treasures! I am 28 yrs old and started the first book to see what all the fuss was about. Now, I can't wait to get the entire series in hardcover. I love to read and have laughed and cried through many books, but I have never burst out into a cheering fit while reading like I did with this book! I hope whatever your age you will indulge in these fantastic stories! Everyone I know who has read the series feels the same way no matter what their age. You will love them!
Rating: Summary: A thought to think Review: I have just returned from a short holiday in which I read Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban. And, like everyone else, I was gripped completely and loved the book thoroughly. I do, however, not want to praise the book here. It is great, nothing to argue. But when I had finished it, I wondered why every interesting and charismatic person acting in the Potter stories so far had been male. All through my childhood I lacked female role-models. All I had was Pippi Longstocking, and besides it was all Robin Hood and Peter Pan and so on. Shouldn't today's girls get a little more? I do not mind Harry being a boy and Hermione has by now developed into a character for girls to identify with, but could there not at some point appear an interesting AND powerful female character? Or even more? There are lots of charismatic, powerful MALE characters in the Potter Books. I love the books, and with so many children reading them, the idea that the female characters could be portrayed as just as important and great and then even powerful as the male ones is so thrilling and important to me that I have to share it. If you see it like I do, why not add a review sharing my opinion?
Rating: Summary: What can I say that thousands of others haven't already? Review: I have just spent an hour scrolling through the reviews for all the Harry Potter books and it is so great to see so many readers out there, of all ages, enjoying these fabulous books. There is no computer game in the world as good as these books. If any kids are reading this review, I reccommend you get hold of 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' and the other books in the Narnia Chronicles, by C.S. Lewis. If you love Harry Potter, you'll love reading the adventures of Edmund, Peter, Susan and Lucy in Narnia. But I can't stop here any longer as reading all these positive reviews. (I am ignoring those ignorant people who had only negative comments to make about Harry as they have obviously missed the point.) I am going to get into my PJs, make a hot chocolate and consume a pack of TimTams (great Aussie choccie biccies) and re-read all my Harry Potters. Its about time. Its been 2 weeks since I read them the first time. I need a fix!
Rating: Summary: I Loved It! Review: I have loved all of the Harry Potter books. But I really liked Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkzban. I can't wait for book 4!
Rating: Summary: Brilliant!!! Review: I have never read a book that has interested me until now! I can't believe how brilliant the stories have been in the last 2 books I have read. It was my friends at work who told me that I would really enjoy it. I cant wait to read the 3rd book.
