Rowling has created a page-turning story. From the first chapter, the reader gets drawn into Harry's life. In this book the characters have been so well developed that at the end of the story you feel like you personally know them. J.K. Rowling's imagination creates fanciful animals and objects, that make the wizarding world sound like something that we've missed out on. This fast moving and adventurous story won't let you put it down! Is it magic?
Rating: Summary: A book for all ages, all places, ALL THE TIME! Review: Absolutely enchanting! Miss Rowling has again, drawn us into the world where dark spirits lurk, and broomsticks take us on a wild ride. In all my 14 years, this is probably the book I would most likely read when feeling down or lonely. Miss Rowling pulls off comedy, fantasy, and suspense quite nicely!
Rating: Summary: First Rate! Review: Absolutely positively wonderful. It's books like these that encourage children to read. A hearty thanks to J.K. Rowling. Simply fantastic. We're so looking forward to the next Harry Potter book!
Rating: Summary: This book was okay. Review: ACTUALLY THIS BOOK WAS GREAT, I ONLY GAVE IT ONE STAR SO YOU WOULD READ IT. tHE PLOT WAS EXCELLANT, HOWEVER i WISH A CHARACTER LIKE pROFESSOR lUPIN OR sIRIUS bLACK REMAINED. ALSO I THOUGHT THE VULNERABLE hARRY pOTTER THEME DUIRING THE qUIDITCH MATCH WAS POINTLESS. iT WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER IF HE HAD LOST A MATCH DO TO HIS OWN FAULT, NOT THE dEMENTORS. lASLY i THINKA NEW CHARACTER SHOULD BE ADDED, CALL ME A ROMANTIC BUT SOMEONE WHO HAS A CRUSH ON hERMIONE, AND SOMETHING LIKE A DANCE, WOULD BE PERFECT FOR ONE OF THE MANY hOGWARTS SOCIAL EVENTS. i MEAN wITCHES AND wIZARDS HAVE EMOTIOND TOO RRIGHT?
Rating: Summary: Five stars is positvely the right rating for this book!!! Review: Actually, it's too bad that there is not a ten rating, because this book would definitely deserve it! Both books were fascinating. In the second book, for instance, Hagrid was totally innocent, but still he was taken away. But after a process, he was still innocent. Without Harry Potter there would be no story. When will it be translated? All my friends in Germany want to read it. SO READ IT!!!
Rating: Summary: The Adam Olufs Review Review: Adam J. Olufs March 7, 2003 The Prisoner of Azkaban - by: J.K. Rowling ISBN 0-590-35342-X. J. K. Rowling wrote a book about an 11-year old boy named Harry Potter. The book is titled The Prisoner of Azkaban. It is a fantasy book. Which takes place in Europe. The main characters in this book are Harry Potter, Ron Weasly and Hermionie Granger. However, there is a new member to the group, an escaped murderer by the name of Serious Black. The man looks gruff but has a soft spot for Harry Potter because Serious Black is Harry Potter's Godfather. Serious Black has been accused of a murder he never committed. Can Harry Potter discover the truth behind the accusation before Serious Black faces a horrible fate? An important quote is, " Harry, I am your Godfather". A minor but important character is Professor Dumbledor. He helped Harry Potter save Serious Black from being executed. There are three main events. The first one is when Harry Potter first met Serious Black. The second event is when Harry Potter comes to trust Serious Black. The third and final event is when Harry Potter saves Serious Black from being executed. Serious Black is a tall Caucasian with dark hair, dark eyebrows and a hooked nose. He has muscular arms and a bearded face. He always has a stern look. This book was a page-turner because it kept you wondering what would happen next. It wasn't hard to concentrate on the story because it was interesting. I didn't make a connection to the book in any way because I am not magical. I did enjoy this genre because I have a fascination with magic. I did enjoy the style of writing because I do enjoy reading fantasy books. There was one surprise in the story it is when Serious Black tells Harry Potter he is his Godfather. Not all the chapters ended in a cliffhanger however, some did. One example is when Serious Black breaks into the Gryffindor Common Room. I found it very easy to concentrate on this book. It was not at all boring. I found it very suspenseful. The book kept me on the subject because I wanted to see what was on the next page. The plot was somewhat unbelievable because it was too much like star wars. I think young and old readers would enjoy this book because it keeps the reader reading. I usually do not enjoy reading chapter books however, I found it hard to put this book down.
Rating: Summary: Another magical Harry Potter tale... Review: After devouring the first two Harry Potter books in one voracious gulp, I was thrilled to find yet another book in the series to start on. I was not at all disappointed. The story was just as wonderful as the first two, if not better. In this chapter of the Harry Potter series, Harry returns to Hogwarts for a third year, only to find a rude surprise waiting for him. Apparently, Sirius Black (the heir to Lord Voldemort's evil throne) is after him! Harry, although somewhat protected within the school's walls, is not safe from Black's evil curse. The story unfolds as Harry makes a few odd discoveries, with a little help from an unexpected source! I highly recommend "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" to anyone searching for a good read, especially fans of the Harry Potter series!
Rating: Summary: A Magical Tale Review: After every summer a boy named Harry Potter returns to a school called Hogwarts in which he is taught wizardy. Throughout the duration of the summer Harry is sent to his Aunt's and Uncle's house. Harry despises this time with his relatives because it is almost as if they make an effort to make the time Harry spends with them a living nightmare. While in his third year at Hogwarts he encounters a big problem. It seems that a man by the name of Sirius Black, a man who escaped from the prison of Azkaban, where only the worst criminals go, is on the loose and in search of Harry. Sirius was put in the jail because he supposedly killed thirteen people including a man by the name of Peter Pettigrew and Harry's parents. Later, Sirius catches up with Harry. Harry as well as everyone else at Hogwarts soon finds out that Sirius is actually good and it was not him who killed all those people it was actually Peter Pettigrew who set up Sirius and commited all those murders himself. I also would recommend this book. This book is very interesting and leaves you on the edge of your seat thorughout the entire book. This book would appeal to any age group. No matter what that be, as long as you enjoy an adventurous book you will enjoy this novel. You should definatley consider reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Rating: Summary: Still good... Review: After having read Book 1 and 2, I kept on to Book 3, which's certainly better than Book 2. But (this's why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars) I enjoyed Book 1 the most so far. In Book 3 the action, which led to the main plot of the story started out much sooner than Book 2. The details seem to be a lot in this book that I got lost some time after putting it down for a day or two. Nevertheless, overall the author's imagination and creativity still abound...as always.
Rating: Summary: This should be awesome reading. Review: After having read many of the reviews, I know my nine year old son, and myself, will love the Harry Potter series, which my sister-in-law has promised to give him as a holiday gift. I have recently started to reread classic and new children's literature, and am excited about the prospect of reading the Harry Potter books.
