Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Book 3) Review: (Previously Posted) This series is the best I've ever read, and Harry Potter's latest year at Hogwarts is no disappointment. The powerful dark wizard, Sirius Black, has escaped from the magical prison Azkaban, and he's after Harry! But Harry and his best friends(Ron and Hermione) don't know the whole story. Harry learns the secrets behind what happened the night Voldemort failed to destroy him. And really...why DOES Professor Snape hate him? All the old characters return, along with the introduction of new ones, for another terrific book. Enjoying a well-deserved stint at the top of various selling lists, the story is intelligent, thrilling, and laugh out loud humorous. I am a 14 year old high school student, but when I began to hear all about Harry, I just had to purchase all three books for myself--using my own money! But it was well worth it. I read all three books over and over. They will keep readers of all ages entertained with their intriguing plots. Other children's authors I enjoy are Roald Dahl, Louis Sachar, Mark Twain, C.S. Lewis, and E.B. White.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Review: *I love this book!* I recently bought the whole book set of Harry Potter. I've read all of the books except book 4. I think the third book is the best one! It kept my interest and it was exciting! This is a great book to read, and that's why I'm recommending it to you..... I hope you like it!!
Rating: Summary: A great improvement over Volume 2. . . Review: . . .and frankly, better than Volume 1 as well.I was quite honest about my disappointment concerning "Chamber of Secrets". To me, it seemed to be little more than a knock-off of "Sorcerer's Stone". However, this title represented a refreshing change. Although some elements remained the same with the previous two stories (a goofy episode with the Dursleys, another new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, etc.) there was a great deal new: new information about Harry's parents and his godfather; new coursework at Hogwort's (and I'm increasingly convinced that there is an underlying tone of satire in some of this material); and new places to explore. To me, the biggest flaws included minor (but annoying) continuity checks between this volume and the previous two, and the sudden revelation concerning Scabbers the Rat. Sorry, but this seemed contrived to me. Overall, though, while freely admitting that this series does not rise to the standard of "high literature", as a homeschooling parent, I find that I can't agree with the dire condemnations leveled at this series by some sources. The works are so obviously fantasy, that only one dealing in complete unreality could fail to see it. The question still remains as to whether the concerned homeschooling parent wishes their children to delve into fantasy -- but these books seem relatively harmless.
Rating: Summary: Casts A Magic Spell Over Readers..... Review: .........Young and old readers will adore this trio of charming books. I do wish the author had explained (perhaps she will in future books) why Harry's parents were murdered (when other, better wizards were flying around). Did they know something? Was their magic getting stronger? Was it, er, Harry himself who ultimately killed them by his own untapped powers? I shall stay tuned until the 4th book. Meanwhile, do yourself (and every kid you know) a favor and read these books. While you are waiting for the next one to hit the shelves, do yourself an even bigger favor and READ another book. (I do wish Amazon would post a much larger "if you like this book..." for all Henry addicts. We can't get enough!)
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Review: ... Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is about a young orphan who is a wizard. Harry is special because the Dark Lord killed his parents but he alone survived the attack. Fellow wizards know this young celebrity all over the world. He gets a letter to return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. That year Harry finds out he has a Godfather "Sirius Black" who is looking for him. Harry also finds out that Sirius is wanted to go to Azkaban, the wizard jail for murdering innocent people. Now everyone thinks that Sirius wants to kill Harry but they also know that he will be safe inside the walls of Hogwarts which are highly protected this year. "Did Sirius really kill people?" Harry wondered. When Sirius sends Harry a Quidditch broom for his birthday Harry knows there is something fishy going on. Read this book to figure out if Sirius is innocent or guilty and if Harry stays out of trouble or puts his life in danger. I give this book ten stars. It is my favorite Harry Potter book out of all the others. ..
Rating: Summary: The Epic Harry Potter Book Yet! Review: ...Book three in the Harry Potter Series is the most epic and compelling one thus far. The thing that's great about the series is that things that show up in one book that in unimportant show up in the next, or even two books after, as an important thing. The entire Harry Potter Series is a must have when they ALL are written and released. But don't get the games. The movies, go ahead, those are fine, but no matter what, you must get these books.
Rating: Summary: An Exciting Adventure Review: ...Harry Potter is the one series of books that I really got into. I didn't really like reading until I picked up this up from a friend. After reading the first and second book, I couldn't stop. Harry Potter has finished his second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and can't weight to start his third year. It starts out with Harry inflating Aunt Marge, a visitor of the Dursley's. Fearing that he would get punished from the Dursley's and the people who work at the Ministry of Magic, he packed his belongings, grabbed Hedwig, and headed out to the streets. While thinking where he was going to go in the pitch-black street, a triple-decker bus appeared out of nowhere and picked him up. I was brought to a place called "The Leaky Cauldron" and decided to stay at the hotel on top of the bar. Since he was worried about getting in trouble from the Ministry of Magic, he didn't really do anything until Ron and Hermione showed up to stay at the inn also. Ron Weasley's dad told him about Serious Black, an escaped prisoner from Azkaban, and how he was after him.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Book 3 Review: ...I liked this book because everything is exciting. There was no part of the book that was boring. The author- J.K. Rowling- makes the person that is reading the book never stop reading. You just get involved in it easily. That's how the book affected me, but it may be boring to others. I have read the first 2 books also. They were both good. I need one more book to go and i will finish the series. I recommend young adults to read the Harry Potter series.
Rating: Summary: Harry is in SIRRUS Trouble Review: ...It's the Harry Potter books that everyone is raving about. These magical books are so inspiring to everyone who reads them. These books by J.K. Rowling take you into a world you've never been in before. I'm not just talking about all the books I'm talking about one particular book of the great series. I'm talking about book number 3, The Prisoner of Azkaban. This is a great story. Its adventurous, mysterious, and so much more. J.K. Rowling puts this story in a way that nobody else can. She shows you a side of reality and a side of fantasy. Her accomplishments are amazing. In this story Harry Potters life is threatened by the notorious Sirrus Black. Black has escaped from Azkaban Prison after being there for twelve years for killing 13 people with one curse. He is rumored to be the heir of the 'Evil Lord Voldemort'. At night when Black was asleep in Azkaban Prison the guards would hear him say, 'He's at Hogwarts 'he's at Hogwarts'. Harry Potters life is in great danger but he can't do anything about it. This book has so many strengths. The story line, the adventure, and everything else you can think of. For this book there is only 1 weakness. The only weakness is that the book is 435 pages. Even though the book is long it captures you attention from beginning to end. Almost every person I know has at least read one of the Harry Potter books. The author is an excellent author. The books are top notch and they have won the *#1 New York Times Bestsellers*. This book is for any reader young and old. This one particular book is the one I rave about and recommend it to anyone that loves to read.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter 3 Review: ...This Book is another great work done by Mrs. Rowling. All the old characters return, along with the introduction of new ones. I am 13-year-old student, but when I began to hear all about Harry, I just had to purchase all four books for myself--using my own money! But it was well worth it. I read the last two books over & over again. The Harry Potter series is the best !!! Out of all the books this is my favourite. I would recommend this book for anyone who likes Adventure, Mystery, & fantasy, this book's got it all. I still have got the 4th book to read, I hope it's as exciting as this one. As soon as the 5th on comes out I am going to buy it & I am definitely going to see the movie. What can I say, I AM A HARRY POTTER FREAK.
