Rating: Summary: Animagus or things are not what they seem Review: This book can be read on many levels. On one level, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is a story of the triumph of truth as well as a sense that things are not what they appear to be - at least on the surface - that is.The story unfolds with Harry back at 4 Privet Drive, trying to read "A History of Magic" as he once again gets into trouble with his Muggle relations. Ron Weasley decides to try to use the phone - that is where all the trouble starts. By the way, it is also Harry's birthday. A visit by Aunt Marge proves to be more than Harry can handle and he runs away. He runs away and is rescued by the Knight Bus and is taken safely to Diagon Alley, where he meets up with Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge. Just in the nick of time too - Sirius Black has escaped from Azkaban and is apparently, after Harry. Harry spends the remainder of what is his summer holiday in Diagon Alley and is told to come back to the Leaky Cauldron by sundown. He is safe around all the other Wizards in Diagon Alley where he meets Hermione Granger and Ron. Hermione finds a new friend in Crookshanks (her new pet cat) who just happens to attack Scabbers (Ron's pet rat) as they are shopping for an elixer to pump Scabbers up. Harry gets his first sight of a Firebolt - who after having lost his Nimbus 2000 in the last book, Harry is in desperate need of a new broom - the Firebolt being the coolio of all brooms..... From there, Harry takes the train to Hogwarts and along the way meets Prof. Lupin who saves him from the dreaded Dementors by conjuring up a Patronus - Harry faints at the sight of a Dementor and never hears the end of it from Draco Malfoy. Harry's time at Hogwarts includes meeting the magical Hippogriff Buckbeak, not to mention Divination. Harry learns to ward off Dementors with the help of Prof. Lupin and the Patronus. Moreover, Fred and George add to Harry's already extensive back of tricks (the Partonus, the Invisibility Cloak, etc.) with the Marauder Map, allowing harry to see all the goings on at Hogwarts and to find all kinds of secret passages. In the meantime, Harry and team manage to win the Quidditch Cup and consequently, the House Champiionship for Griffindor. Moving along, Sirius Black is vilified from the get go. the reason the Dementors are ever present in Hogswart to begin with. The action is slow at the start and this is really where we see the best of Rowling, where the use of apparent downtime is really a whole setup. For what is an unexpected climax, when the 3 out fo the 4 creators of the Marauder Map get together, the story of the Animagus (or is it Deus Ex Machina) unfolds and the ending is explosive. We see justice being done as those who need vindication are vindicate and everyone is set free - or are they? to what extent are we free anyway? Oh well, that is a topic for Philosophers to discuss - but this is great place to start..... I can't betray the ending - but I will say that is where is really all comes together and what was once in the darkness come to light. A subplot that I really enjoyed was the rescue effected in the end with the most unlikely players (some all too familiar really) and how they went about doing it. It really explains the whole Hermione thing.... Nothing bad can be really said about this book - it is murder mystery cum lights show. Up to this writing, it is the most developed Harry Potter book in the series. However, Book 4 holds more complexity is still, for me, the best book in the series. However, a caveat, you will not understand the intricate twists and turns of Book 4 without first having read this one. Moreover, where else can the remedy for depression be to Wolf (no pun intended) a whole block of chocolate after a Dementor sighting. A heart warming scene is when Dumbledore speaks to Harry of his father's nickname - Prongs. Darker and more sinister than the previous 2 books, it is by far the best ending of the 3 and does not disappoint. A rowling classic and a great transition to Book 4. I can't wait for the first movie!...
Rating: Summary: The most exciting Harry Potter book yet! Review: This book continues with J. K. Rowling’s incredibly imaginative world of Harry Potter. This is Harry’s third year at Hogwarts, and once again he is in for exciting adventure. A mysterious prisoner who was involved with the incidents surrounding the death of Harry’s parents has escaped the wizard prison of ‘Azkaban’ and is headed to Hogwarts! All the headmaster’s are in fear of Harry’s life, and the frightening Azkaban guards called ‘Dementors’ are guarding the school on all sides as the school year begins. Harry and his friends not only get entangled with the mystery, but unravel it to an incredible exciting ending. This book has a whole host of interesting new characters that are added making the story grow as Potter does with each new addition. Simply fantastic. This is by far the most complex of the books in this series, and I found it very entertaining. Harry encounters werewolves, Hippogriffs and all sorts of new magic he has not experienced yet! Hogwarts changes with every year of Harry's attendance, and every year a bigger adventure than the last! If you are not a Harry Potter fan by this point in the story, this book will definitely handle that! An exciting enjoyable adventure! This series is the best that has come along in a long time.

Rating: Summary: The Third Year Review: This book details Harry's third year at Hogwarts. A dangerous wizard has escaped Azkaban and everyone thinks he's after Harry. Because of the added security to protect Harry, there aren't as many late night adventures in this novel. We are introduced to new and interesting creatures that once again make you marvel at the author's creativity. There is a mystery needing unraveling in this novel, too. It's very funny. Mostly, it's just good to be in the company of Harry, Ron, and Hermoine again.

Rating: Summary: wonderful use of language for a children's book Review: This book exceeded our expectations. The first two were very good, but the third one had some wonderful twists in it. I can't wait for the next one to be finished.
Rating: Summary: JK Rowling gets better with every book Review: This book had all the things that made the Harry Potter series so wonderful- great characters, mystery, suspense, and humor. In this book, we learn more about Harry Potter's past, particularly the last days of his parent's lives. Very exciting, humorous, and suspensful, I only wish I'd read it slower. And the ending was wonderful, if you haven't read it, you're going to be so surprised! But then, surprise is another element JK Rowling loves to use, and she uses it well.
Rating: Summary: Masterful Review: This book had my sons and I riveted night after night as I read it to them. Rowlings sets up quite a scenario and very vivid characters, the Dementors are especially frightening. Harry's situation with the Dursley's couldn't be more dreary. There's also his escape from them and the feeling of fear for the unknown odyssey that awaits him. And of course the real story of Sirius Black, who he is and why he's looking for Harry... The author is particularly masterful at creating a "series" of books that stands quite admirably on their own. Get this book read it and savor it and the other 3!
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: This book had the most clever story out of all the books I have ever read! If you decide to read the Harry Potter series , start from the first , and be prepared for a smart surprising story that constantly keeps you guessing , but you will never guess right , because this story takes turns that would LITERALLY be impossible to guess! I don't know how Rowling does it but she manages to pull it off each time . I am 13 years old but please dont get that idea that it is a happy go lucky little kid book because its definitely not !
Rating: Summary: God father! Review: This book Harry notice that he has a god father, and his god father happens to betray his parents. Harry notice that he isn't safe, so he has to stay inside the Hogwart castle until Black is capture. Harry Potter books are getting more exciting each time! Great book that is.
