Summary: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban
Review: Brian Nielson 5/24/01 period 4/5

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban

The suspension, imagination, and the details is enough to keep a reader gripped onto this book without putting it down. Harry Harry Potter a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is both scared and upset when he finds out that the a prisoner that helped lord Voldemort kill his father and his mother escaped from Askaban. Sirus Black has escaped from Askaban not o be free, but to finish off the Potter family. To find out what happens you have to read this book. I liked this book because when your reading it has you on the edge of your seat. I recommend this book to any one hew can read.

Summary: i could not put it down even if i tried
Review: Buy this book right now it will keep you hanging every minute of the day. I tried to avoid buying it until November, but then I had to see what all the hype was about. I read the first book and I probably read it eight times by now. Then I read the third book and it is way beyond five stars. If you think your money might be wasted you are very wrong. You will enjoy this book so much, you'll think it was the most expensive in the world. The one thing I noticed was different from other children's books was that its plot was different from any other book I have read in my life, and I've probably read at least a thousand. normal children's books are either a mystery a person solves or something happens in the end to make you put it down. Harry Potter boks are different because they leave you hanging for more. You will savor the thought of reading the unreleased book, and if you read it on a weekend, you will not do any of your chores. You will just curl up with the book and read it until midnight. at times I found myself getting up early to read the book over and over. i hope you make the right decision and buy this book.

Summary: By far the Best
Review: By far the best novel of the current four novels available.

Amasing Novel.

Summary: Rowling will have a hard time topping this!
Review: By far, this newest addition to the Harry Potter series offers more to the plotline than any before. Though the mystery aspect (as you may find in Chamber of Secrets) is lost, it still offers amazing twists. Rowling has many skills, one being that it is nearly impossible to guess who-done-it. In this chapter to the saga, she proves that she still has it, even after two best sellers.

Summary: Wonderful, Wonderful Book!
Review: By now nearly all the reviews you've read have five star ratings and endless praise, right? Thought so. And it's probably getting pretty boring. But every Harry Potter book deserves a SIX star rating. Number three's third best! In book three, The Prisoner of Azkaban, suspense is BIG. Humor is LARGE. Harry gets absolutely fed up with the Durselys. Quick as a flash he is outta there. After an exaggerated ordeal, Harry returns to Hogwarts School of Wizardry. But not after he finds out the dangerous and mad murderer Sirius Black has escaped from the wizard prison and the mysterious dementors...and he's after Harry Potter! This is the story of how Harry discovers answers to many of his questions, and how he has adventures along the way. I must admit it is a bit dissapointing not having Harry have an exciting battle with Lord Voldemort, though. Well, the Fourth book has plenty of that! A wonderful, interesting, don't-want-to-put-down book for the entire family. The kids'll love it, you'll love it. There are loveable characters, a fast moving plot, and it's just overall a fantastic, thought provoking story. My MANY MANY compliments to J.K. Rowling. She, of all people, knows how to write.

I would like to also reccommend clicking the "More Fantasy Books" link. It has super children's fantasy books. If you're a dedicated Harry Potter fan, why not try the Harry Potter store, if you haven't already. Happy Reading!

Review: Calling all readers! If you haven't read Harry Potter, boy areyou missing somthing! If you like Wizards (lots of those) and witches(plenty of them, too) grand feasts, owl mail, or anything magical, read this book! First, Harry Potter accidentaly blows up (not explode, blow up like a baloon) his Aunt, so he runs off. When he is on the train to his school, a "Dementor" shows up and Harry has a fit. Then at school, Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster, had to set Dementors all over the school because Sirius Black, an escaped crimminal, is trying to get in the school. He starts taking Care of Magical Creatures, and Divination, the study of the future. Ron Weasly (Harry's friend from the other books) has a fight with Hemironie Granger (a know-it-all witch who is another of Harry's pals) because he thinks her cat, Crookshanks, ate his Rat Scabbers. This is a exellent book. I definatly reccomend it!

Summary: Ladies and Gentlemen, she's done it again!
Review: Can she get any better? By far author J.K Rowling's greatest achievement, "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", though being the third installment in her delightful wizard tale, manages to fill magic and mystery in every single crack that needs filling. Her delightful characters and inventions are only getting better, and incredibly, for her third time in a row, she scores a triumph beyond ten stories.

Summer holidays are a hope for young students in school, but not for thirteen-year-old wizard Harry Potter. After blowing up his Aunt Marge, Harry is reunited with fellow students Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. But something's troubling in the wizarding world: Sirius Black, a mad prisoner of Azkaban, the dreadful wizard prison, has made an escape, and is on the loose. Wizards, Witches and even Muggles are on the lookout for this mad murderer. But is Sirius Black somehow related to Harry's dreadful past?

Harry, Ron and Hermione are thirteen and now possess a suspensful feeling about the world of wizards, that somethings out there are not right, and that evil is indeed growing. The third book is where darkness falls and the plot is beginning to twist and turn. Voldemort seems to be growing stronger, and servants around the world are clinging to his side. What happens when Voldemort regains power, and the wizarding world falls under his manipulating spell once again?

Rowling has expanded her enchanting world, which was already filled with strange and magical invention. In the third novel, the scope becomes bigger with newer material, creative creatures, unexpected characters and new magical powers. The action sequences possess a feeling of rush and speed, and the climactic scene in the end puts every single plot twist from the first two books to shame. A stunning surprise perfectly closes Harry's third year at Hogwarts.

This is longer than the first two novels, but the more the merrier, right? It's amazing that Rowling is able to create such a huge world in a small 400 pages. The next novel is even bigger and contains even more than what the first three books tell combined. To see wizard Harry Potter grow from an eleven-year-old to a seventeen-year-old, unsure of the treachery and magic all around him is one satisying experience.

It's a bit longer than the first two books, but when a story is filled with so much imagination, flair, unexpected creations and magic beyond belief, the short length seems to be the only flaw in this book. It has the most humanity of all the books, and emotion definitely comes into play for Harry, Ron, Hermione and the rest of the supporting characters. "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" is everything it should be: Imaginative, enjoyable, captivating, enchanting, dramatic, adventurous, stunning, rich and much, much more. I sure hope J.K Rowling has another fifty books on the way, and not just Harry Potter-related.

Summary: Good fun, but not all its cracked up to be.
Review: Certain books always fall into the field of 'Adulty Childrens Books' - Children's books which adults can enjoy. Harry Potter has been the most obvious amongst these from the past couple of years, but I wouldn't call it the best. You could certainly do a whole lot worse than the good storylines of Hogwart's Castle, but on the other hand, you could do better. Whilst the storylines are very good, its fun to read with some quirky twists and tied all together well, the fact remains it doesn't have too much deep meaning.

Not that all children would mind this. But as a crossover child-adult book it certainly dents its credibility. I'm sure your child will love to read about Harry and co. and their great adventures. But its no masterpiece, it just got a lot of publicity. For a great young adult book which adults can enjoy with deep philosophical meaning, try Philip Pullman's 'His Dark Materials' trilogy, totally amazing.
