Rating: Summary: Not the best.... Review: The Harry Potter books are a really surprising collection of children's books, in that they are fairly complex, very vivid and manage to engross readers of all ages. I'm a nineteen year old male who listens to Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson. I only picked up the first one while my sister was reading it to see what all the fuss was about. The first book I found was a fairly typical, but better than average, children's book, nothing to really write home about. The second, however, blew me away, so I could wait to get my hands on the third - which is supposedly the best in the series (so far). As far as continuing the narative goes, this book doesn't disappoint, I couldn't put it down for two days. However, the actual parts of the plot involving Sirius Black (the antagonist of this installment) are all crammed into the final four chapters, while the rest of the book is spent fleshing out the new characters, dropping tiny hints here and there about Sirius Black, and developing the characters of Harry, Ron and Hermione, who are thirteen now What keeps the reader glued to the pages for the majority of the book are the Quidditch matches, which is an amazingly well-crafted and entertaining game for a make believe sport. Overall, this book is definately worth the read, especially for the information about Sirius Black and the night Volemort killed Harry's parents. Of course, if you've never read Harry Potter before, start at the first one.
Rating: Summary: This book was awsome!! It captured me at the start. Review: The Harry Potter books are all enthralling, and seem to become better and better as the seris contuinues. I love reading books about dragons and magic, the Harry Potter books are some of the best yet. Many people have told me that I read an extordary amount for my age, and I have to say that that is very true. I am in my early teens, but I have read books like Jane Eyre, Little Women, Gone With The Wind, and many other titles. Favroit authors of mine include: C.S Lewis, Roald Dahl, Brian Jacques, J.R.R. Tolkien, Lloyd Alexander and many others. The Harry Potter books are great, and it is my opion that everyone should read them.
Rating: Summary: The Best Books I've Ever Read Review: The Harry Potter books are amazing. They are the best books I've ever read and whenever i read a book that is not part of the Harry Potter series I dont like it as much as I no I would have if I hadn't had such high expectations. So all i do is wait for the next Harry Potter book to come out so i can read another great book that will last me until the next one comes out. The only thing i'd like Rowling to do is write a little faster!
Rating: Summary: Addictive book for all ages Review: The Harry Potter books are bestsellers, and there is no confusion why they are. The plots are entertaining, the characters colorful and detailed, and the writing great. The third one is just as good as the previous two. I thought that the dementors were fascinating. The storyline as always was addictive; I finished the book in just a few days. The wait for this book was well worth it. I recommend that everyone read the entire Harry Potter series, even if you are not a kid.
Rating: Summary: MISS O LOOK! Review: The Harry Potter books are definitely the most enjoyable books I've ever read. This one is my favorite of the ones I've read so far. This book keeps you in suspense through every chapter. You'll really find it hard to stop reading, especially towards the end. Some people may be intimidated by the size of this book, (as well as the other Potter books) but JK Rowling writes with such great detail that you'll really feel like you're in Harry's world. Most people will get so lost in this book that it will take them less time to finish than even a much shorter book. As much fun as Harry Potter is to read it's great to listen to also. Jim Dale portrays the characters perfectly with different voices for each. Some people might think they're to "cool" or "mature to read (or listen to)this book but I'd recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter books got my daughter back on tracks! Review: The Harry Potter books are just great. My daughter who is herself at boarding school in England has always been an avid reader, but for some reason last year stopped reading like she used to. We became a little worried at this tendency. The Harry Potter books changed all that. She could not put them down and has in fact read all of them twice now! I really feel sorry for the parents in South Carolina who want these books banned from their schools libraries. If they do not want their own children to read about evil and good where the good always wins anyway, then do not let them borrow these books. But to ban them from all children is just ludicrous. I love reading the books for my second daughter who is 7 and we talk about all the happenings in the book. She knows it is all fiction. But then of course we are not fanatically religious like some parents seem to be these days, but we take very well care that our children knows right from wrong and books the ones about Harry Potter helps show them rights and wrongs although in a fantasy world. How long are these parents going to protect their children from the notion of evil and good, I wonder. One day they will meet the real world and have a bigger shock than from the Harry Potter books. The gun laws and criminals in the U.S. makes sure of that! My daughters and I can not wait for book number 4 to come out!
Rating: Summary: The third Harry Potter is even better than the first two. Review: The Harry Potter books are not just for kids. Younger kids might even have a few nightmares after reading this one. I read the UK version (thanks to Amazon.co.uk) and look forward to buying the US version so that I can read it again! I dare Ludlum, Clancy or Grisham to author a "page turner" this good!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter is Great! Review: The Harry Potter books are one of the best series I have ever read! If you like fantasy and real life put together you will love Harry Potter. Also, this book teaches you not to judge someone right away.
Rating: Summary: I Love Harry Potter!!!! Review: The Harry Potter books are so awesome! There plots are so typical yet so original. J.K. Rowling is such an amazing author, capturing both adults and children with her books. They are truly amazing. And to that reader from Canada who "didn't want to sound like a damp rag" to truly enjoy Harry Potter and have him become important to you, you have to read all three of the ooks. Otherwise you can't come to love his character or understand why he's special. So what if his a regular child of the nineties? He's a wizard with a certain air of mystery about him that makes him special.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST BOOK YET. Review: the harry potter books are the best books ever created by any human being. this is the best one so far. i have the book covers taped on my walls along with the cover from time magazine with harry on the front-i only wish these people were real so that i could meet them!
