Summary: Not just for the very young
Review: I was introduced to Harry Potter by my 7 year old niece. I am 56. After reading the 1st book I am hooked. This is by far a more complex tale than the first two but no less enjoyable. I cannot wait for my fourth volume to arrive. By the way, my 76 year old mother is anxiously awaiting my copies as I finish each one.

Summary: A book that fills me with joy and contentment!!!!!
Review: I was itching for the third Harry Potter book to come out in my local book shop. I had already read the first two, so I was full of anticipation for this one. Book number three was my favorite of the series. I thought that I had read the climax of the story about half way through the book so I was quite happy that the last half of the book would be so exciting!! There is a feeling of content that I get from reading the Harry Potter books. This series gives off a feeling of coziness, excitement, adventure, effection, and much much more. I have read each of the series so many times that i know every word of it practically. I would like to thank J.K Rowling for giving me the pleasure of reading such an awesome book! Or books should i say. I read quite alot and I have written some stories for fun of my own, but I must say that the Harry Potter books are the best of all of the stories that I have read. And i must say I have read alot too!! Harry Potter books are the best of the best!! I can never thank the author enough for the joy she has given to me and many many people all over the world!!!

Summary: This is a MUST HAVE collection!
Review: I was leaving for a conference and bought the 1st Harry Potter book and couldn't stop reading it. On the way back home I didn't even notice we had landed and the as soon as the 2nd book was on the self I bought it and could not put it down. Now I'm anxiously awaiting this 3rd in series and plan to collect all seven. I hope J.K. Rowling will continue to captivate her readers with Harry Potter adventures or similar adventures in the near future.

Summary: BEST HARRY POTTER YET!
Review: I was on vacation in Ireland and saw this book and I knew I had to get it! I also have many friends who ordered this book in June at Amazon's UK site. Now that it is out in the U.S. I reccomend everyone reads this book (from ages 6-106). There are more suprises than THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS and THE SORCERER'S STONE put together! I am not sure what will be the major competition book for this one (for STONE it was THE TESTAMENT by JOHN GRISHAM and for CHAMBER it was HANNIBAL by THOMAS HARRIS) but whatever it is PRISONER will be guaranteed to knock it down to #2. I do not want to give any plot summary, just enjoy the book for yourself

Summary: READ THIS BOOK! READ IT NOW!
Review: I was reading the reviews and came across one that gave this book five stars, but condemned the American mind because that particular person thinks we all hate this book.

Wake up and smell the coffee! Americans, like people from every other country in the world are as different from each other as their fingerprints - it's unfair to judge us by one review.

This book was fabulous, not only did the ending totally blow me away (too bad I can't say the same for Memoirs of a Geisha) but the plot doesn't drag at all - it keeps you guessing what'll happen next. And Rowling leaves the door wide open for another sequel, something I hope she publishes in the near future. Give it a try folks, you won't be disappointed!

Summary: It undermines the entire series!
Review: I was thoroughly enjoying this book, and it was all set to be my favourite of the series until I reached the part towards the latter stages which mentions Hermione's time-controlling hour-glass. A monstrous plot loophole suddenly opened up.
Think about it.
The simplistic technology (or spell) exists in the realms of the world of Harry Potter to enable time-travel. Don't you think a character as powerful and knowledgeable as Voldermort would be aware of this?
As such, no action can ever be final - and therefore the bad guy would be able to go back in time and do whatever he wants to do - so none of these adventures are the finished article, because they could always be changed through time-travel.
For example, Lord V could go back and prevent Harry's parents ever meeting.. and thus solve all his problems in one easy go. Or Dumbledore could do something similar to Voldermort or each of his cohorts, and so on and so on...
If time-travel is to be restricted to a minor part in the tales, it needs to be strictly controlled or very limited - but it isn't. Hermione gets to mess around through the entire story with it, in order to push herself ever-closer to a nervous breakdown.

Up until this point, JK Rowling had been doing so well. The world of magic and spells was imaginative and mad, but suddenly the whole structure has been completely undermined by the introduction of a major shift in the credibility of the world she's created.

I can hear her bank manager laughing at everyone...

Summary: Best one yet!
Review: I was very impressed with the 3rd book of the "Harry Potter" series. It is, in my opinion, even better than the first. The book is fascinating from page one. It is very developed, and I bet Rowling spent awhile on this one. She has a bunch of little mini-plots running throughout the story, but they all tie together neatly at the end. Harry's character is much more realistic in this. he's gaining more of a definite personality and a mind of his own. It's Harry's third year at Hogwarts. There is a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher (no surprise there) who is very interesting, new classes, and all of the things we've come to appreciate in the first two. But Sirius Black, a convicted mass murder, has escaped from the wizard prison Azkaban, and no one knows where he is. I can't say that the book is deeply satisfying, and I don't want to. It leaves you thrilled, begging for more. The story goes on at a perfect pace, slow and fast in all the right moments. I think it is a lot scarier than the other two, but nothing kids can't handle. I wouldn't let myself read it altogether; I wanted to hold it out for as long as possible. that's how great it is. I'm a highschool sophmore, so maybe I shouldn't read "kids" books, but anyone can appreciate these. How else would the've made NYT bestseller? Trust me, this is the best book of the series yet.

Summary: perfect
Review: i was very surprised with this book. it's the end of a long day, in which i've read the first three books in the series (i'm picking up "goblet of fire" tomorrow, with any luck), and i have to say this is by far the best.

i read more or less anything i can get my hands on. after seeing the movie on friday, i decided to "give in" and buy the books. i was astounded. rowling may write for children, but her work has a depth that i haven't seen in any so-called "children's literature" since the narnia series.

"prisoner of azkaban" is surprisingly dark, thorough, smart, funny, and emotional. unlike the first two books (very good in their own rights), this one left me feeling like i just got off a wel-designed roller coaster.

i can't say enough good things about this book. if you haven't already, read this book. if you can, read it in one sitting. you will not be disappointed.

Summary: A great sequel to a lackluster predecessor
Review: I wasn't a big fan of the second Harry Potter book, Chamber of Secrets. It really failed to live up to the brilliance of the first book. Fortunately, The Prisoner of Azkaban completely redeems the series. I'm not going to repeat what has probably been said a couple hundred times already: this book is fun, imaginatively written, and oddly hard to put down. Book 3 features my favorite characters--Sirius and Lupin, and also sheds some light on the nature of Harry's parents deaths. Rowling knows how to make a good fast paced story and keep it going with style--Harry Potter is the perfect summer read.

What really attracts me to this volume of the series is how very dark it is. The Dementors are very reminiscent of Tolkien's Ringwraiths, an odd choice for a children's book. They inspire some of the extremely dark themes that litter the book. Harry hearing his parents screaming for mercy in his head when he comes in contact with a Dementor is shocking, but really brings the reader closer to an otherwise shallow character. Not everything is right for Harry, children's hero or not. In fact I question whether really young kids will appreciate the depth of pain the book manages to evoke, despite the light style.

If you've been reading the series, keep going. It really gets good with this one.

Summary: DA BOMB!
Review: I waz in a lot of doubt when my DAD bought me dis book. i'm a picky reader.. and i judged dis book by it's cover...(i know i'm ashamed of it...) but then out of boredom one day i picked it up (from tha shelf where it' was collecting dust) and started reading it. It was like i wuz teleported into "their" world. it seems as if u were living in the story. It's not one of those highly descriptive books wit all those new vocab. words, but still.. it stimulates ur imaginatiion. please don't judge a book by it's cover... it's a really TIGHT story. Even i say so.(who wouldn't n e ways?) Once u read it, u won't even notice it's dat long. buy tha book! it's 2 good 2 pass!
