Rating: Summary: abracadabra, rub-a-dub-dub, open sesame Review: Mmm. I get the funny feeling that the books are getting bigger and bigger (whats the spell for that - I think Alice in Wonderland had a potion for it) but that bigger is not better. Oh well. These books get the youngsters reading and talking about them and in these TV days that has to be a Good Thing. Harry is in one Bad Mood, and when I say Bad I mean not good. Harry shouts, he strops, he gets his hair off, he wears his jumper inside out just to be a rebel. I think that Dursley kid is under-rated. He gets a bad break, just cos' he a bit large for his age, he'll grow into his skin I reckon. He manages to show a bit of maturity and organisation, at least he has mates. If he manages to catch HP a good clip round the ear I'm sure it would improve him no end. Don't forget Harry is still not allowed to use magic outa school. Attaboy Duds, don't let 'em put you down.
Rating: Summary: The Harry Potter Strikes Back Review: When I first heard the reviews of Harry Potter V most of them told me that the book was "Not that Good", but I wanted to read for myself, to see if the rumers where right. First I would like to say that the Book wasn't that bad, It wasn't dull and the story progressed, but when I finished the book the big surprise and the big turn in the plot just wasn't there. Another thing that bugged me was the fact that there was a lot of recycling. The worse thing about this book is that there is a possibility that we will have another book just like this, a book which is just a connection to the seventh book, unless the plot will stretch to Harry's Auror Study year (three year=three book) Enjoy your reading!
Rating: Summary: Dark and Confusing Review: This book is full of angst and depression, not nearly as good as I thought it would be and definitly my worst favorite of the series. In the beginning, it will be confusing and hard to understand but you gain understanding as the chapters go by. It difinitly gives you a taste of the darker side of life.Harry's personality gets a change after someone close to Harry, REALLY CLOSE, dies trying to protect him. If you don't mind all of this, I'm sure it would be a good read!
Rating: Summary: Worth the extra? I think so. Review: .... What do you get? Basically a very beautiful book. The feel of the book is wonderful, the additional artwork suitably gloomy and mysterious and the cloth cover is a wonderful thing to have. And, who knows? It could end up to be a sought-after item in years to come? If you're on a budget, by the standard edition. If you have a little extra to spare (I used an unexpected gift certificate) and are a big Potter fan, get this edition - it's truly beautiful.
Rating: Summary: Amazing and left me wanting more!!! Review: In this fifth book..i was quite suprised..JK Rowling has pulled off yet another AMAZING story..it feels so real to me that sometimes i look out my window expecting to see young children on broom sticks or owls bringing me mail..its quite incredible how something so fictionized could seem so real. But i must say being the emotional person that i am..the person she decided to kill off in this story was MY favorite character and i cried for oh about 3 hours..i cant wait for the 6th book and i expect it to be as good!
Rating: Summary: J.K. Rowling Writes On And On Review: I was very excited when I first heard of this book, and I ran to get it. I was quite disappointed as I finished it, as it was EXTREMELY LONG! I mean, the things he did could take up 3 books. The story plot is great and all, and J.K. Rowling's writing is fantastic, but it just doesn't live up to the other Harry Potter's that I know. But I must say it was good, as all Harry Potter books are.
Rating: Summary: Harry is back and darker Review: This book does not have a twist at the end like all the other Harry Potter's had. Maybe the twist is the character which dies at the end. And I felt 750+ pages for a showdown with You Know Who is a bit much. Could have been edited by 100-200 pages but then J.K. would not have made that much money. And she deserves the money she gets as she shows other people like Clancy who also write 750+ page books that you can write loads of things ut still keep it sensible and entertaining. Details about Harry and Cho's budding romance are quite cool in their innocence. Would have given 5 stars if this book had more skirmishes with You Know Who and would have been a bit shorter. But still a welcome addition to the Harry Potter pantheon. Not one of the best ( which will be Goblet of Fire) but still cool enough. J.K. is now the undisputable heavyweight book writing champion of the world. Now I await the next Harry Potter which will be 900 pages long. And the next one which will need a forklift to carry. Cant wait till Harry actually does a Avada Kevadra to Voldie.
Rating: Summary: diasppointment! Review: Like many others I eagerly awaited the Order of the Phoenix. I had my own theories about what it was that Dumbledore had to tell Harry and raced through the book to try and find out the big secret. At the end I was very disappointed. I think more because the other books were so good and I had expected much more from this one. A tip for JK Rowling - bring Sirius back for the next book!
Rating: Summary: The Best Yet!! Review: Harry Potter #5 was great!! It had a great plot and great adventures. Though Harry seemed very very angrier than usual. But don't think J.K. Rowling did it for no reason. You figure out why he is always soooooo angry later on in the book. Harry experiences many new things. Again it's very very good and I suggest readin it. But make sure you read the other 4 first!!
Rating: Summary: Definitely going downhill Review: Although I found the first three Harry Potter books enthralling, and have started reading them to my 6-year-old son, the fourth was WAY too long (where's the editor?!?)... and the fifth is even worse. While it's understandable that Harry would be dealing with adolescent angst, Rowling's portrayal of the teenage Harry just doesn't seem consistent with her previous books, and he comes off as a much less sympathetic character than formerly... and Ron and Hermione, who are continually trying to put up with Harry's tantrums, also seem less believable than before. The actions of many of the adults seem less believable in this book, as well. The decision of Dumbledore to keep Harry completely in the dark, and not even check on his well-being while things were going terribly wrong, again seemed inconsistent with his characterization in previous books... and the reason given (finally!) at the end of the book seemed quite lame. I doubt my opinion is likely to sway many Harry Potter fans... but if you, too, weren't thrilled with the fourth book, don't rush out and buy the fifth - you may be disappointed.
