Summary: Another classic
Review: Having read the first four installments of the Harry Potter series, I was interested in the continuing exploits of Harry, Ron, Hermione and the rest of the gang at Hogwarts. Despite the substantial length, it was generally a fast and easy, yet compelling, work. Readers of the first four novels will be familiar with the style, the characters and the various storylines. In The Order of Phoenix, Rowling tells another intriguing story of a year in the life of Harry Potter, who is more rebellious and clearly more consistently angry than in past works. In this book, the plot builds upon what preceded it and provides the usual twists, turns and intricacies that readers have come to expect. The Order of Phoenix has a strong start and a strong finish, with the book clearing up some of the mysterious unknowns from the previous books. Thus Rowling pulls things together quite well in the end, while also setting the stage for the next installment. All-in-all, the Order of Phoenix is a very good effort and is well worth the time...even for an adult.

Summary: Not the best, but still a good part of a great story.
Review: My first thought on finishing was that this book could have used a good edit. It was pretty disappointing after the fine book that The Goblet of Fire was. That said, I did enjoy the "Order of the Phoenix" concept and the new charachters - especially Tonks and Luna. Harry's charachter development is coming along nicely, but some of the others seem to have stalled.

Summary: Still a great book
Review: Though Harry Potter is still one of the greatest series out there for all ages. The book has gone down hill since book three. Not to mention it is becoming more and more obvious in the rip off likenesses to lord of the rings

Summary: Not quite as good as Azkaban but still good
Review: Book 5 in a series of 7.

Towards the end of Book 4, Lord Voldemort, whom seemingly has been temporalily put to an end, returns in full-bodied form. This story is told time and time again to everyone by Harry and Dumbledore, but not everyone is convinced as even the Ministry of Magic is trying to discredit them both. Meanwhile Harry is going through puberty being very mean and having outbursts almost every other page. We're introduced to some new characters, in particular Luna Lovegood, a bit "off" girl with a small crush on Harry and Dolores Umbridge, an extremely vile character("hem hem")whom you're gonna dislike very much.

Now for the infamous "death scene": while he/she is one of my favorite characters, there's not much to the scene, just a few descriptions, and vague I might add and that's it.

This is definately more darker than Goblet(including a big battle inside the Ministry near the end) and you'll get annoyed at Harry's whininess and Umbridge's loathesome manner, but you'll be glued to it(sort of)

Summary: Has Rowling Lost Her Magic Touch?
Review: Yes, I admit it. I was one of the dorks waiting at midnight to receive my copy of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix". And I began reading it that very night...and it took me forever to get through it. For some reason, this particular installment of the Harry Potter series did not draw me in. It just didn't seem as magical as the first four installments and I found myself hating the characters. Harry spends most of the book whining, and it got so bad I began hoping that Harry was the character that Rowling decided to kill off. All the hype over the character who dies was the only thing that kept me interested. But then I was SO disappointed when I finally got to the "infamous" death scene. I could have cared less about the person who died (I won't give spoilers)...by that time I was just happy I had finally finished the book. I am not saying that this book was completely horrible. I just feel that this was my least favorite of the Harry Potter series. It lacked the character depth, awe-inspiring, nail biting plot, and humor of the previous installments. It does have a pretty blue cover though (haha)

Summary: please pray that NOBODY reveals who dies!!!
Review: Before you choose to barrage me with hate mail, I would like to establish myself as a long-standing J. K. Rowling fan!
As for the fifth book in the series, my rating would ideally be 3.5 stars out of 5, and not 3. I have to say it was a huge disappointment. Perhaps it was because of the obviously high expectations that had built up over the past 3 years.

First the BAD NEWS, because there is more of that. I was hoping it would outdo the previous book, but it barely measures up to it. Mad-eye moody's character wasn't half as interesting as in book 4 (he's been reduced to providing silly comic relief by playing around with his magical eye), the antics of Peeves the poltergeist became a bit too exaggerated (he managed to finally cross the line from funny to irritating), the final conflict in the department of mysteries could have been shorter, and the harry potter-dumbledore-voldemort duel was too cliched. Not to mention the dursleys. Their hatred of everything magical is slightly overdone here, especially in the beginning. Their indignation in the previous books was always amusing to readers, but here it became too childish. And I honestly felt that the house-elf Kreacher¡¯s character was a sad imitation of Gollum from The Lord of the Rings, (and let me tell you, unlike Kreacher, Gollum commands your attention þu even though you hate him, you can't help pitying him). Also, Harry's constant feelings of frustration, anger and insecurity throughout the book get on your nerves by the time you reach the climax.

Now, for the GOOD NEWS. Among the newly introduced lot, Bellatrix Lestrange and Dolores Umbridge r delectably hateful, especially Umbridge. Certain chapters in the book are unputdownable: Harry's hearing in the department of mysteries, ALL the spicy clashes between Umbridge and McGonagall, and many more. And the rest of the old crowd at Hogwarts is as good as ever. Even Dobby is less irritating this time. Rita Skeeter's small role went delightfully well. I even liked the new angle on Snape's past. I felt sorry for him, and I think his hatred for Harry is almost justified. Ginny Weasley emerges as a sensible and mature girl, but I still hope Rowling does NOT pair her with Harry in the ensuing books. The chemistry between the two is rather non-existent. On the other hand, the chemistry between Ron and Hermione is very much there.

And the hero (rather, the heroes) of the book is not the Boy Who Lived, but are Fred and George Weasley, in addition to Professor McGonagall!

So yes, I did enjoy the book, though it's not Rowling's best as many reviews claim. The best would be "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" for being concise yet funny and moving. Although not as moving, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" also scored high points for intrigue and high-adrenalin excitement. I didn't want these books to end.

And a WORD OF CAUTION for those who still haven't read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix : DON'T EXPECT too much from the book. Prepare to be a bit disappointed, and u might just enjoy it. And please PRAY THAT NOBODY TELLS YOU WHO DIES IN THE BOOK!!!

Summary: The Best Yet !
Review: In the 5th in the serious J.K Rowling really shows what an exceptional writer she is. We see Harry go through a tough time by being shunned by most of the magical community who think he is just attention seeking thanks to the Daily Prophet and Mr. Fudge, clashing with a cetain teacher, recieving some dreadful news about Quidditch, he is confused over his feelings concerning a certain girl, he is terrified by the thought of Voldemort returning,he becomes prone to the odd outbrust and is left completely devestated by THAT DEATH... It is a fantantic book that you will want to read time and time again and as it has been proved this is not just a book for kids it is a book for muggles of all ages!

Summary: WOW !!!!!!!!!!
Review: JK. R is the best !!! I dont know whether she had read again the book after she wrote it, because it's awesome. I couldn't put it down, eventhough I've read it many times.
The 5th book is very cool, it's almost explained the whole mystery. I hope on the next book, JK. R would told us about Harry's parent while they were in the Hogwarts.
I want to know more about Hagrid, Prof. Dumbledore, snave and absolutely VOLDEMORT.

Summary: Liked if, but I'm having doubts about the series
Review: The universal opinion I'd heard before reading this was that it was good, but had a more serious feel and was too long. Now that I've read it, I agree. I'm glad I read it and I'll certainly finish the series simply to find out how it ends (I'm not 100% sure about a happy ending after this read) but I won't reread as with the others. I could go into pages of specifics, but the truth is I simply didn't feel good during long parts of the book or after I finished it. 200 pages shorter, and I might've felt differently.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I was a HP fanatic.... I ripped through the other volumes like there was no tomorrow (the 3rd being my favorite).
I felt like there was SO MUCH regurgitation of old material. Its one thing to remind us- yet a totally different thing to act like we had forgotten EVERYTHING.
And Harry... what is UP with him???
From the first chapter to the last- Harry shows himself to be this angry, bitter child. Yes, teenagers have a lot of angst- but by the middle of the book- I was like, ENOUGH ALREADY.
He really just got on my nerves- and he never let up.
He had a very pissy attitude throughout the book, and frankly- it got old.
I thought JKR could have done a lot better with the story line- I also felt like she wrote this book just because she was pressured to write another in the HP series and didnt really care about what she wrote. There were too many fragmented story lines... and the stories werent even that compelling... there were no surprises here. Even when she killed a major character. I was left feeling... 'that was it'?
And what was with Harry and Cho?... and even Dumbledore?
I finished the book without any respect for the characters nor the author... with the exception of Hermione and Neville.
They were probably the only saving grace to this book.
