Rating: Summary: Harry Potters 5th year Review: I enjoyed the book Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling. In the story there are more twists and turns than ever. Harry, Ron, Hermione and the Order of the Phoenix try to convince everyone that Voldemort is back but no one believes them. Join Harry, Ron, and Hermione on there most interesting adventure yet. In Harry's fifth year, Ron, Harry, and Hermione are kept on their toes because Voldemort is back once again, but the three of them and the Order are the only ones who believe it. The new defense against the dark arts teacher doesn't help much by giving Harry detention as much as she possibly can. But the most horrible think of all is Hagrid is not at school and no one knows where he is. In the beginning of the book Harry is attacked by dementors and almost expelled for defending himself. In result of that Harry lives with his god father Serious at the Orders headquarters. Harry becomes mad at Rom and Hermione because they don't despond to his letters. "We couldn't tell you anything, Dumbledore made us swear" said Hermione in self defense. Hermione and Ron told Harry everything after he arrived at the headquarters. This book, like every other Harry Potter book, is one of the best books I've ever read. I liked it because I always wanted to know what was going to happen next. For example I was always wondering what happened to Hagrid. There were not many things I didn't like about the book. I really enjoyed the story. Harry, Ron, and Hermione had a lot of fun. The only thing I didn't like was that (though the book is very long) it progressed very fast so it seamed short. I hope it doesn't take Rowling long to come out with Harry's sixth year.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Review: J.K. Rowling expertly writes Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. This book is a great piece of literature. The main character is faced with many difficult decisions in which his friend's and his own life will change dramatically with each choice. Harry's story is an amazing tale of bravery and defense. When Harry learned he was a wizard nearly four years ago, he never expected the things that were waiting for him in the world of witches and wizards; the world to which he belonged. In this book and its precedes, Harry Potter's story comes to life right on the page. This book is such that you feel the emotions right as the character is feeling them, for example when Harry goes for his meeting in front of the Wizen Gamut you feel as much anxiety as he does. As the year progresses Harry finds things out about himself and his friends. Though the year is difficult Harry manages to get through it with flying colors, the same way he usually does. When he finds out his enemy and the most powerful wizard in a thousand years is at large again, he must learn to control himself. He has his own things to worry about; thus is why he must learn occlumency to close out his mind, to control his "hero problem" and to deal with his new defense against the dark arts teacher. It is a fantastic story for people of all ages. As you can see the book Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix is a great piece of literature. I hope that anyone who reads this review will be intrigued, and read this book. It is suspenseful however, I must warn anyone who does read it, it is addictive and incredibly hard to
Rating: Summary: J.K. Rowling does it again! Review: i actually did not start reading these books until the 5th one came out...i had no interest and thought they looked stupid BOY WAS I WRONG!!! they are truly amazing, never have i read books so quickly (i read the whole series in a week) people criticize the 5th one as being too dark and harry being a stupid greedy teenager...look around you what teenager doesn't act like that??? i'm 15 and i know i act like that when people keep important information from me! J.K. Rowling has really developed these characters we know things about them and can always relate to at least one character in the book. I think the books just keep getting better and better, i would recommend reading the books before seeing the movie though, my sister saw both movies and couldn't get into the books but now she is reading the 3rd book and can't put it down!Harry is the reluctant hero, it's not his choice that Voldemort wants to kill him, the situation was forced upon him just as things are in real life, he is simply "the boy who lived"
Rating: Summary: And the Magic Continues Review: JK Rowlings' magic continues with the Order of the Phoenix. The genre of this book is fantasy because it has sorcers and includes magic. The setting is at Hogwarts, a school for wizards and witches. The story takes place in today's modern world. The mood is normally exciting and full of action. The main character is Harry Potter a wizard who is good and his archenemy is Lord Valdermot who is an evil wizard. The plot starts off with Harry back at Privet Drive. One night Harry and Dudley, his cousin, are walking home. Dementors suddenly attach them. Harry fights them off with magic. He then has to go to a hearing to find out if he will be expelled from Hogwarts for being under aged and using magic in a muggle community. If you want to find out what happens to Harry you have to read the book for yourself.
Rating: Summary: A Long Waitng Climax Review: The fifth book of the Harry Potter series brings a little bit disappointment to me.The climax of the story reaches only after reading more than a half...The death of Sirius Black seems is a lousy description. The spells used are not variety as well.Sometimes, i did get bored with those spells. Yet,the description of the mentality changes of the characters through the time is something worth reading.
Rating: Summary: very good book Review: ever time you think the books can't get any better they do. here comes the 5 book from jk rowling.... read this book it is ver enjoyable!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Review: I have to say that I believe this is the best book in the series so far. Although I was not happy with who died in the book (it just seemed so very unfair). Harry has grown, and the stories have grown with him (just look at the book length). This story is more for grownups than for kids. In this book we also find out some important information (information that is going to have an important effect on the rest of the series).
Rating: Summary: more quality, not quantity is what I want to see... Review: This book is, in my opinion, much better than the previous book (book 4), but still pales to the first book and is probably comparable to the others. Everything seems so black and white in these books, but the author is starting to play too much upon this type of theme (good versus evil) instead of what made the series interesting in the first place (anticipation, the unknown, reasoning and solving skills, characters who felt that they were real people in real relationships - not unrealistic ones, as well as all the nifty creative ideas that makes this story much more unique than that of other series). Many of us can identify with some of these characters. Hagrid - the big caring brother for example (I sort of miss him, wished he was in here more). Peeves, the jokester. In these recent books, however, the character interactions are becoming too simple and too linear (and in my opinion, too unrealistic). Some of these characters, unlike the previous book, also get on your nerves sometimes (Harry with his temper tantrums, Hermione with her know-it-all I'm always right attitude, Ms Weasley the control freak). I wouldn't have minded this, however, if the relationships were real. But people aren't reacting to them in a realistic manner. Also Hogwarts felt like a fun place to be in some of the previous books, but in this book it felt like you were going to well -school. Instead of escaping to a place a wonder and discovery from a dull home - now you're going to school from a dull home. Luckily the pace picks up at the end, and it turns out into the book it was meant to be. If she had gotten rid of the slow parts of the book and made the book shorter, then it would have been a better book.
Rating: Summary: A Cool Book -- and not just for kids! Review: Approaching this book as a teenager who enjoys the Harry Potter series I have to disagree with some of the most recent reviews on this site. I found the story to be very entertaining and I thought the characters were very believable. I would recommend this book to everyone! This one is my favorite! Other books I also like, the losers club by richard perez and the perks of being a wallflower -- which is also great!
