Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Rocks Review: Harry potter is a great book for all ages. It takes a lot to spark a child's imagination these days, but Harry Potter does it amazingly. The latest of the series, The Order of the Phoenix, is one of the best. It has ever aspect of a great novel.
Rating: Summary: Not flawless, but still ... good Review: In reading other reviews, I've been noticing dislike, and sometimes outright hostility directed towards this book. I get the feeling that much of this "hostility" comes from the fact that it is a much darker addition to the HP series than the other books. WHile some may say that this detracts from the quality of the book, I feel that it makes this the most genuine of all the books. The world is not always the cheerful happy place that far too many fantasy novels seem to want to depict these days. Death is always present in our world, and this is one of the few books that actually adresses that concept. Others seem to be convinced that the lenght of the book makes it bad, using the idea of "quality, not quantity." Try telling that to JRR Tolkien. The Lord of the Rings is over 1000 pages in its totallity, but funnny, I hear far fewer complaints there. This book is long because it needs to be long, and I don't feel there is any "wasted space" in the novel. No, this book does not have the innocence of the first three books (the fourth one didn't either, again, where are the complaints?) but adolescent life rarely has the innocence of late childhood. By refelcting these chainging values and being unafraid to pander solely to an audience of children, I believe thet Ms. Rowling has proved, more than anything else, that Harry Potter is not just some kids fad, and that she can hack it as an author. Read it all the way before you judge it. DOn't stop in the first 50 pages just because it reminds you too much of life. After all, we can't just put life back on a shelf when we don't like it, can we?
Rating: Summary: Very Boring Review: I thought the book was very boring and it was very hard to get through it. It was too long and it was like the other 4 books. Harry gets into trouble, meets Voldemort etc. In each book the same things happen...I thought the 5th book was VERY boring. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. The other ones were better.
Rating: Summary: JK's Best Yet Review: This Book Took You On A Wonderfull Ride I Would Tell All My Friend (who read the first 4)To Read This Book!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Review: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, fifth in the series by J.K. Rowling, is not the best so far, but it is pretty good. I like how it explains a lot about the other four. It is kind of confusing, but it tells a lot. I can't wait for the next to come out. I like how it shows Harry's moods as a teenager. The book gives a lot of suspense, and I enjoy that. There was a lot that happened, like Ron becomes Keeper, they have O.W.L.'s to write, Harry is having horrible dreams, and feelings, the new Defense against the arts Teacher tests everyone's limits, and so much more. This was a good book, but I think the fourth was much better. This one was a little long, but I was still interested all the way to the end.
Rating: Summary: BIG DISAPPOINTMENT Review: It's sorry to say that the much awaited book of the series is very dull.It is terrible literature. The main point is it lacks the exitement which is found in the other books. The content also shows that Harry is in his adulthood. There is nothing childish in this book.Harry looks pretty angry in this book.No one beleives him, nobody trusts him.I like the beginning pretty much, but the Cho Chang thing makes it dull. Also,Harry does not get to do anything just and only by himself.Overall,it is fun to read but it is not super.Ihope the next book is much better.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Review: Once again Harry is stuck with the Dursleys for a long and boring summer. He has had hardly any contact with his friends and isn't hearing much from the wizard world. He becomes worried when Voldemort will come back. He is very excited to return to Hogwarts and be with his friends once again, but what he thinks will be a great year turns into a disaster. The Daily Prophet, a newspaper in the wizard world, has depicted him as someone in search of fame and publicity. He is looked down on by many of his classmates. As he is getting older he is making his transition into adulthood and dealing with all the problems associated with that, namely girls. No one willl admit that Lord Voldemort is back, not even Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts. Dolores Umbridge, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts is also against him as were all of the other teachers of that class. Harry Potter is in hard times and things won't get much easier for him as he is taking the O.W.L. exams, or Ordinary Wizarding Level. Harry Potter, once known as an innocent boy made victim of the evil Lord Voldemort, is reputed as a rebellious teenager which make his 5th year through Hogwarts tough. Harry Potter is having dreams that start to irritate his scar and is becoming worried. Harry's year at Hogwarts is very exhausting. He returns home after facing death yet again, which would trouble me forever. I liked this book and recommend it to anyone in 5th grade and up.
Rating: Summary: it's pretty good Review: This book was longer and it took me longer to read. That is true.It took me 18 hours to read it (including breaks)the 4th one took me 15 hours straight. But I have to say with all the negative opinions out there;the book has to be written this way. Harry is growing up; it was shown through his actions and how he reacted to people. I admit it is difficult to read because it is such a divergence from the previous one including the 4th one. Harry's world seems like it's crashing all around him and everything goes into total chaos. That is why it differs because it doesn't really go in a straight line.Everything is jumbled and Hogwarts was struck with insurrection because of the close scrutiny of the ministry of magic. All in all, it was great and it showed new facets of the characters. Plus, it starts to break the bonds of innocence completely. Besides, I like long books.
Rating: Summary: Poor Harry! Written into a corner. Review: This series is going downhill fast. Three quarters of this enormous, formulaic book is Harry feeling sorry for himself. Not without reason. Everyone's out to get him. That theme is completely worn out. Wouldn't you think that after all these years the adults would start trusting him more? He's always proven to be right in the end. The book drones on and on. I didn't need another long, long description of a quidditch match. Finally, in the last quarter of the book the plot starts moving and gets interesting. The book could have been trimmed 500 pages and been much more entertaining.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable book Review: I think that this books is the best in the whole series. It has a lot of action and suspense that tops the other four books. I thought that the plot was great and that the stuff they do over the school year is specacular. I would recommend this book to everyone I meet. I read it in three days because I could not put it down. All in all this was the best Harry Potter book in the whole series and it will be hard to top it.
