Summary: Movies affecting the books?
Review: Yes, I love Harry Potter books. Not that I think they are literary masterpieces, but still they entertain me immensely. I especially like the funny little details Rowling has created, like all the funny animals, foods, jokes...

This one is the most grown-up of the series so far, very dark from the beginning. (And by the way; I like this American edition more than the English one, the thick pages, the illustrations, the covers... Enjoyment also for your eyes and fingers!) And it also lingers more, giving hints, taking slowly closer to the real problems. POlitical plots and powergames, that affect the Hogwarts school are absolutely hilarious and accurate. Beware, children! This is just how stupid some of the adults really are!! Power should never be given to those who desire it most.

One thing gave me extra giggles: Professor Snape is played by Alan Rickman in the movies and somehow it seems, that Snape has become more like Rickman. And he has a bigger part than in the earlier books. Or is it just a coincidence, that Occlumency - a kind of mind-control - is taught by Snape, who is played by Rickman, whose best parts in earlier movies include Rasputin and Mesmer? When did Rowling get the idea of letting Snape teach it? And what made me wonder more, was that now Harry and others seemed to fly back when hit by magic - just like in the second movie - but earlier they giggled, grew extra limbs or did whatever the spell made them do. And didn't fly on their backs.

All in all I wasn't disappointed at all, though I'm not giving five stars. I think Rowling has still something better in store. And to tell the truth: I don't care for fantasy literature. Except Harry Potter.

Summary: best book I've ever read
Review: THIS BOOK IS BY FAR THE BEST BOOK EVER! I wasn't expecting to keep up the way she was able to keep the readers fascinated all the way through the book, but ooooohhh was I wrong. All the complex plots and subplots kept me reading. Some mysteries were solved, but enough were left unsolved to make me REALLY frustrated that the sixth book isn't out yet. A definite must-read for basically anyone who can read.

Summary: Simply good fun
Review: This is a charming 5th installment in this series. The book is somehow more enthralling and entertaining than the previous 4, and the plot is wonderfully imaginative. I loved this book. And any fan of the series probably will agree. If you like the Harry Potter series there is no reason why you will not love this book. Get it.

Review: We see Harry as he enters his teenage years, He is bitter and angry at the world. His attitude is a problem for some readers who preffered the child version of Harry, but I thought he was wonderfull. We join up with the group at Hogwarts where there have been some changes, including a certain new staff member and the absence of another. Of course, Harry battles Voldermort...but this time he has more help form the others. A beloved character dies...and new information is revealed. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. I give it two thumbs up.

Summary: Long Wonders
Review: A Review by Ben

Harry Potter is a normal teenage boy living a normal life but one day that all changes and he finds out he is a wizard and is going to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Now he is on his fifth year at Hogwarts with an all new evil Defense against the Dark Arts teacher. He starts his own Defense against the dark arts lessons and they call themselves Dumbledore's Army or DA. He is banned from his favorite thing to do, Quiditch. To find out more get the book and read.

What I really liked about this book is the length of the book because if you just read the book as fast as you can you will miss stuff. I am a person who likes to read long books so I am not done with it in two or three days. I still don't get why Hagrid went into the mountains and nearly killed. I like how Rowling really gave the characters a lot of parts in the book Like with Ron and Hermione prefects. Why would Dumbledore pick them, Harry's best friends? Hmm!

I would recommend this book to all people who like long fantasy books. But first of all you have to read the first four books first. If you don't it will be confusing.

Summary: Wands Out!
Review: A Review by Valaree

Secret clubs, power-hungry teachers, and being named a attention seeking liar is all about Harry Potter's fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. On top of that, he is diving head-first into the world of being a teenager. There is a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Umbridge. She is a toad-like woman working for the Ministry, seeking to put in affect all rules possible to give the Ministry maximum power over Hogwarts. Even with the rapidly approaching O.W.L.S. and suffocation by rules and regulations, Harry still has other things on his mind, Voldemort. Harry is looking into Voldemort's world through dreams. Through this, the question arises, his Voldemort looking into Harry's world, and if so, why?

Over all, this was as very enjoyable book, but some things really stood out to me that I found annoying or liked. One thing that I didn't like was the constant reminder that Harry was becoming more and more moody as he gets older. It is good to know what the character is feeling or thinking, but it was a little much. One thing that I did like about the book was the amazing detail all through the book. From the appearance of thestrals to the depths of the Forbidden Forest, it feels as if you are right there at Harry side. Another thing that I liked was learning about new characters, and better understanding the old ones. It was good to find new aurors like Kingsley Shacklebolt and Tonks, and some not so enjoyable characters at Hogwarts like Professor Umbridge and Marietta.

I would suggest this book to a person who is looking for a magical escape. Though it might not be the best installment in the series, it is still a book worth reading. I would suggest to read the book before it, so it the story will make more sense.

Review: A Review by Joe

Once there was a boy named Harry that lived with his aunt and uncle and his cousin. These people were always mean to him and never did anything for him. One night he was sitting in his room and then his family started to leave the house. Once they were all gone all of a sudden some wizards and witches came down to his house and they told him that they were taking him back to Hogwarts. Once Harry heard this he got all his things packed and they started to leave. A couple of days later Harry was finally back at his school with all of his friends and he was back to saving the day just like always.

I really liked this book because of the way Harry snuck around the school trying to be inconspicuous and he would always find out some kind of news that would help him save everyone that was in trouble. In this book the author does a very good job of being descriptive throughout the whole story. Towards the end of the book the author does a very good job at leaving you wanting more. When I read this book it seems like I can actually see the characters (especially if you've seen the movie).

I would recommend this book to people that have a really good imagination and people that really like action books. Before you read this book I recommend you read the other four books in this series.

Summary: The Best Of the Series
Review: It's been a long three years since The Goblet of Fire, but The Order of the Phoenix is well worth it. The fourth book was a bit of a dud, but this is the best in the series. It is by far the most complex, the most sophisticated, primarily becase Harry himself is so. Gone is the wonder-eyed, please-everybody kid of the first couple books. And rightfully so. This year, Harry must confront stunning family pasts, ominous dreams about dark corridors almost every night, and the fact that the magic community refuses to believe anything he says. Voldemort's presence gives the story an extra edge, and the ending is the best of any in the series. Dumbledore battling Voldemort at the end, a change from the usual Harry vs. Voldemort duel, is a marvelous scene, as is "The Lost Prophecy" chapter, in which Harry must confront a startling prophecy that will dominate the last two books. The death is stunning, and anyone who says it didn't upset them is not a serious fan. We can only hope that we don't have to wait three years for Book 6.
