Summary: Wow!!
Review: I cannot believe this book. The fifth installment in the Harry Potter series certianly contains its fair share of action, adventure, intrigue, humor, and surprises.
I would be hesistant to say that this is the best of the series, but it is delightful and the ending is crammed full of interesting tidbits. I was incredibly sad over the death of one of the characters, but I understand why that particular character was chosen.
I did appreciate how JK Rowling has attempted to prove the characters are growing up, the jealousy, anger, frustration, and romance displayed in the book are fair representations of the emotions found in a teenagers life, just modified with witchcraft and wizardry. I did not appreciate Harry's many temper tantrums, but then again, it's not my book.

It was also nice to see some new characters, as well as bringing Firenze back, he is such a cool centaur. oooo, that lady though, Professor Umbridge, she was a piece of work!!! i wouldn't like to have to serve a detention with that individual!

I was very pleased with the book overall and I am very much looking forward to the next book in the series!!

Summary: A good read, but definitely dark
Review: Having just read through my copy of OOTP, I have to say it was very interesting to see some of the plot twists. I laughed out loud more than once. But I will have to wait a little while before I read it again to get over my disappointment at the character's death. I only hope it has a greater meaning in a later book.

Summary: WHAT AN EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER
Review: Well, I stood in line and was home by 1:00 a.m., and finished the book @ 11:50 a.m. the same morning. I only took 2 hours off to sleep. After I write this, I will go back an re-read it, all 870 pages of it.

I went into this book with such trepidation, (by now everyone knows that someone important dies, I won't ruin the surprise.) This book was a lot darker than the previous ones, in part because we know going into it that something bad will happen and we are waiting for it; unlike in 4, where Cedric dying was a sprung on us at the end, w/no build up to it. There were several potential death scenes preceding the actual one, and you wanted to race through it to find out what actually happens. This is why I am going back to re-read the book.

As always, it was very well written. Harry has a lot of anger issues in this book, as he should, and Hermione manages to be the most emotionally mature one in the book, and really does a good job of smoothing over some of the rough spots. Ron finally has good things happen to him.

This book was great, but it did not leave me feeling happy and excited to read the next one, instead I find myself feeling bad for Harry and what is coming in the future. He has some great losses to overcome, and he finds out things about his family that he will have to deal with too. Snape may actually have more of a reason to hate Harry than any of us have ever guessed, (although it is wrong for an adult to take out frustrations on a boy, you get insight into why it is so hard for him.)

Fred & George are superb, they come up w/great hi jinks as usual. The Quidditch scenes are not very good, (I really miss Wood)

JK does a great job with a new character from the ministry dept., Umbridge is hilarious in her sheer pompous stupidity!!
It is great seeing her get what she really wants by becoming the "High Inquisitor" of Hogwarts. Dumbledore is gone, and chaos reins. McG, does a great job of putting her down!

Longbottom finally comes into his own, and finds the courage that we have continually seen glimpses of!! He really impressed me in the way he came through for Harry and himself, I can not wait to see more of him in the future.

Overall, this book was fantastic; however, I would never start the series with this book. As stated previously, it is the darkest of the series, I would start out w/one and work your way up, or you will miss some of the magic that makes Harry so special.

I eagerly await book 6, and hope with all my heart that things will get better for Harry, but fear they will get worse first. Also, I think that that as we are introduced to the possiblity of Harry being an Auror, that we should continue these books into his schooling from the Ministry and his later adventures!

DON'T WAIT FOR PAPERBACK!!! It would be awful to hear to much about the story before reading it yourself, part of the magic is seeing what the next page brings.

Summary: Halfway Through
Review: Halfway through the book now, I stop and think to myself; How could someone- anyone- write such a wonderful, aweinspiring piece? Luna Lovegood is now one of my favorite characters, and I'm sorry to see the character that dies go. I would recommend this book to readers over the age of 10.

Summary: A Big Blue Whale
Review: I don't want to spoil anyone's enjoyment of this book, so I won't say anything about the plot or the characters. But it is pleasingly large, with many chapters and pages, and it appears to have something to do with a kid named Barry. Top marks!

Summary: HARRY!!
Review: OMG HARRY POTTER ROCKS!!! THIS IS THE BEST BOOK EVER!!!!! READ IT OR ELSE!!!!!!!

Summary: JK Lives Up to Her Reputation Again
Review: I can't say that I have finished the book, but I am half way done. When you read this book you are actually put into the mind of Harry Potter. You can literally see what he is seeing. That is what I like about this series. It lets your imagination run in a magic filled way unlike any other book. In book five, the story gets deeper, darker, and more addictive. Expect to make some major free time in your week for this 900+ page treasure.

Summary: J.K. Rowling does it again!
Review: After a convient mix-up by the post office, I was able to get my hands on a copy of the newest Harry Potter book approximately 12 hours before it was released in stores. I immediately opened the package and isolated myself in my bedroom so I could have some alone time with the longest Harry Potter book yet, at nearly 900 pages. I read through the night stopping only occasionally to deal with the minor distractions my brother and sister provided seeing as they were just as eager as I to discover what lay before Harry in his fifth year at Hogwarts.

Upon reaching adolescence, Harry has developed into a much more complex and interesting character who is faced with an assortment of new challenges: the bitterness he feels toward people who don't understand him and what he's been through, the feeling that he is being "kept in the dark" by adults, girl problems, the feeling that Dumbledore has been avoiding him, and his ever-growing and dangerous connection to Voldemort, which is a crucial element in the book. Harry has also become much more defiant, especially with the arrival of a power-thirsty Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher from the Ministry who has her own opinions about how Hogwarts should be run.

Unlike the other books, there do seem, however, to be some loose ends and unanswered questions that the ending fails to address. The book also leaves you with the feeling that not that much has been accomplished against Lord Voldemort. In a sense, it returns to the place where the fourth book left off with a few exceptions. Please notice that I did give the book 5 stars because the unexpected plot twists and the amazing creativity woven in throughout the book is enough to make up for the not-quite-perfect ending.

Summary: OH MY GOODNESS
Review: I waited patiently for midnight to roll around, and even before i got home i was reading it in the dark of the car. It was by far the best one of the series. Harry has grown so much emotionally. He was not always the likeable boy he has been in the past. My emotions ran a gamut from laughter to sobbing. I don't want to give anything away. Just buy the book... read the book and live the magic once again!!

Summary: Short and Sweet(review, not book)
Review: I'll keep this simple: got the book at 1:30 AM. I had finished it by 1:30 PM. I literally could not put it down. If you don't have it, buy it.
